Ask Lady Wanda.... your feelings which remain unacknowledged, you may want to try bringing in articles to initiate open communication on excessive computer usage and addictions. University studies are also available online. You can also look for workshops on this subject and invite your spouse to attend.

Dear Lady Wanda, I am very concerned that my spouse spends an incredible amount of time on the computer. We discussed my concerns on a few occasions, but there is always denial that an issue exists even though our relationship has changed. What should I do to make my feelings heard? Sincerely, Silence is not golden Union County, New Jersey

RESPONSE: Dear Silence is not Golden, Unfortunately, this cry rings out in too many relationships. Although I do not believe that you should draw a final conclusion or bring accusations without reason, pursuing open communication for some type of resolution is a wise move. Since you have tried to discuss

Another consideration is to ask your spouse if counseling would be an option. But, be advised that often times if an individual does not see that a problem exists, he or she may not be willing to submit to counseling. Do not be discouraged. Be persistent. Your feelings do matter. Since you recognize a problem, you want to be careful that you do not enable by ignoring the problem. If Internet addiction is in fact the issue that your spouse is facing, community organizations, as well as many local churches provide support. They also offer support for family members as well.

Dear Lady Wanda, I am a minister and was recently married. After three months my husband’s true abusive and deceptive character came out. I am not staying in this relationship. My Pastor and other ministers at my church told me that it would be a mistake to marry this man. They were right, but I am too ashamed to stay in this relationship and especially to tell my Pastor that I made a mistake. I feel like leaving my church. What should I do? Sincerely, Lady in Regret Baltimore, Maryland

Ask Lady Wanda continues. RESPONSE: Dear Lady in Regret, It may not have been easy to come to this reality and admit that you made a wrong choice. However, I applaud the fact that you took the first step and have accepted accountability. Next, you should speak with your Pastor. I do not think leaving your church is the answer. This is just a situation that stings now because it is fresh and you are facing the repercussions. Despite the decision to marry, your Pastor and the other ministers have love for you and will, no doubt, lend support so that you can get through this difficult time and move forward in your life.

MANIFOLD WISDOM IN THE GOSPEL the milk, and drawn from the breasts. (Isaiah 28:9. ) Then until a babe is weaned from the milk and drawn from the breast, what is he or she being taught? Romans 2:20 gives us a good answer to this question, it claims that babes in Christ are given a “form of knowledge and of the truth in the law”. The word “form” in Strongs Greek Translation number 3446 is “formation i.e. appearance. Rev. and Mrs. James Anderson The manifold wisdom (Eph 3:10) in the Gospel show us that there exist more than one level of education in the New Testament. Figurative expressions such as ‘meat’ and ‘milk’ (Hebrews 5:1314 and I Corinthians 3:1-3) signify two different levels of teaching in the Gospel.

Jesus speaks of those who have the appearance of truth and says that that form of the truth shall be taken away: “Luke 8:18. “Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.”

As we examine Hebrews 5:13-14 we see that babes in Christ on milk are ‘unskillful’ in the word of righteousness, but that word ‘unskillful’ in Greek, according to Strong’s interpretation is “inexperience i.e. ignorant”.

Those who seem to have are ignorant about the word of righteousness and feel they have the whole truth until they are weaned. It seems today that that tradition of weaning one from milk has been long forgotten.

In I Corinthians 3:1-3 the Apostle Paul show that there are two methods of teaching based on whether a believer is considered to be a babe in Christ or not.

Another operation that we don’t hear about in today’s teaching is in Isaiah 8:16-17 ” Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples. And I will wait upon the Lord, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.” The testimony needed to find the Lord of the Second Advent whom God manifest to the Gentiles has also been long forgotten. Therefore Jesus says in Luke 16: 8. “…. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? Think a minute; How would you answer that question?

As instructions in Isaiah 28:9 the way of God is to not give the knowledge of sound doctrine to believers on milk. It says, “Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from

New Credit Card Scam This one is pretty slick since they provide YOU with all the information, except the one piece they want. Note, the callers do not ask for your card number; they already have it. This information is worth reading. By understanding how the VISA & MasterCard Telephone Credit Card Scam works, you’ll be better prepared to protect yourself. One of our employees was called on Wednesday from ‘VISA’, and I was called on Thursday from ‘Master Card’. The scam works like this: Caller: ‘This is (name), and I’m calling from the Security and Fraud Department at VISA. My Badge number is 12460. Your card has been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern, and I’m calling to verify. This would be on your VISA card which was issued by (name of bank). Did you purchase an AntiTelemarketing Device for $497.99 from a Marketing company based in Arizona ?’ When you say ‘No’, the caller continues with, ‘Then we will be issuing a credit to your account. This is a company we have been watching and the charges range from $297 to $497, just under the $500 purchase pattern that flags most cards. Before your next statement, the credit will be sent to (gives you your address), is that correct?’ You say ‘yes’. The caller continues - ‘I will be starting a Fraud investigation. If you have any questions, you should call the 1- 800 number liste d on t he back of your card (1-800-VISA) and ask for Security.’

You will need to refer to this Control Number. The caller then gives you a 6 digit number. ‘Do you need me to read it again?’ Here’s the IMPORTANT part on how the scam works. The caller then says, ‘I need to verify you are in possession of your card’. He’ll ask you to ‘turn your card over and look for some numbers’. There are 7 numbers; the first 4 are part of your card number, the next 3 are the security Numbers that verify you are the possessor of the card. These are the numbers you sometimes use to make Internet purchases to prove you have the card. The caller will ask you to read the 3 numbers to him. After you tell the caller the 3 numbers, he’ll say, ‘That is correct, I just needed to verify that the card has not been lost or stolen, and that you still have your card. Do you have any other questions?’ After you say No, the caller then thanks you and state s, ‘Don’t hesitate to call back if you do, and hangs up. You actually say very little, and they never ask for or tell you the Card number. But after we were called on Wednesday, we called back within 20 minutes to ask a question. Are we glad we did! The REAL VISA Security Department told us it was a scam and in the last 15 minutes a new purchase of $497.99 was charged to our card. Long story - short - we made a real fraud report and closed the VISA account. VISA is reissuing us a new number. What the scammers want is the 3-digit PIN number on the back of the card Don’t give it to them. Instead, tell them you’ll call VISA or Master card directly

New Credit Card Scam....continues verification of their conversation. The real VISA told us that they will never ask for anything on the card as they already know the information since they issued the card! If you give the scammers your 3 Digit PIN Number, you think you’re receiving a credit. However, by the time you get your statement you’ll see charges for purchases you didn’t make, and by then it’s almost too late and/or more difficult to actually file a fraud report. What makes this more remarkable is that on Thursday, I got a call from a ‘Jason Richardson of Master Card’ with a word-for-word repeat of the VISA scam. This time I didn’t let him finish. I hung up! We filed a police report, as instructed by VISA. The police said they are taking several of these reports daily! They also urged us to tell everybody we know that this scam is happening.

Gospel News Magazine July/August 2012 7 Things To Do For Your Next Release It’s easier than ever to release your music to the world. And there is now a wealth of online services that will help you promote, distribute, and share your music. But even though musicians can release material whenever they want – and many fans are happy with the idea that they can download singles – the press, fans, radio stations, podcasts, and even digital distribution stores still ask the same question: “When’s your next album coming out?” Of course, an album in today’s music world is more than just a physical object. It’s a concept that helps promote your music; it gives everyone something to focus on. Having an album enables events such as a record-release party, gives you a story to tell to help get you reviewed or mentioned in the media, provides you with a group of songs for sale in a digital music store, and gives you something tangible to sell fans after a live show.

Page 18

10. Put Your Best Song on Track 1

There’s more music out in the world than ever, which means that musicians have to fight even harder for the 30 seconds of consideration that they get from any media outlet, radio programming director, or reviewer that gets their album. In a recent interview in EM, Bob Boilen, the music reviewer for NPR’s All Songs Considered, said that the show receives 200 to 300 CDs per week. Their review method: toss the press release in the recycle bin, slot the disc in the player, and listen to track one. If that doesn’t grab them, they put it on the giveaway pile and move on to the next disc.

Don’t lose the opportunity to reach far more people by leading with a weak track. The rest of the music on the CD won’t matter if no one hears it. Although the actual sequencing of the song order for your CD will likely happen during mastering (see step 8), it’s No matter what you plan to do with something you want to decide on your album, you want to put out the before that point. strongest product you can. The ISRC code is widely used in digital commerce sites and by collecting societies, so it may affect the royalties that you get for your music. Note that you need an ISRC for each track separately. In fact, if you have multiple versions of the same song, each of those tracks should get its own ISRC code, as well. 8. Get the Album Mastered

Many musicians are tempted to save money by skipping the critical mastering process before sending their music off to be reviewed, played on the radio, or replicated 1,000 times. Don’t make that mistake. Mastering is a critical and very specialized process, and it is best done by an experienced engineer with the right gear in an acoustically treated studio. Evening out volume between tracks, smoothing out EQ, adding compression and limiting, and getting the benefit of an experienced pair of ears with a fresh perspective on your project is key. It will add that critical polish to your album and help it stand out from the crowd. Listeners and reviewers will

look negatively on problems such as jarring volume changes between songs, too much bass, or overly bright or dull mixes, and these problems can’t easily (or cheaply) be fixed once the CD is made and the songs have been put up for sale at digital music stores. To learn more about Mastering services, 7. Legally Protect the Music

Although U.S. copyright law doesn’t require that a work must be registered with the government to get copyright protection, you can get statutory benefits, such as the ability to recover your legal costs if you prevail in a lawsuit, if you register it within a few months of publication. For musicians, that publish date is usually when a CD is released. Take a little time before the album is released to register both the music (form PA) and the recording itself (form SR) with the U.S. Copyright Office as a collection so you get the full benefit of registration as it is more cost-effective to register them as a whole than each song separately. Also, before the album release, register the songs with a Performance Rights Organization (PRO) and the sound recording with SoundExchange so that if it’s played and picked up in their surveys, you can get paid for it. If you wait until after it’s been released, you might miss out on their surveys if it’s played.

WHAT IS FAMINE? By Prophetess Catherine Jernigan

Famine lack of food brought on by drought, insects, war. God sometimes used a famine as a discipline for his unbelieving and disobedient people in Amos 8:11. Lack of word God-- or of hearing the word of- is called a famine.

death was on the land because of the water shortage, Grocery and all items was rocked high. Starvation became great on land, the trucks that brought food was rob on the highways and did not make it to the stores, violence will be great on the land.

I am a prophet of God Amos 3-7 Wake up the church is sleep- Mark 1336 Famine is throughout the Bible. Ruth 1:1, Luke 15:14, Amos 8:11<Jeremiah 29:17, mark 13:8, genesis 42:5, Matthew 24:7

Wickedness of Man!!! Genesis 6 verse 5 and god saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Days of Noah are on the land!! Wake up the handwriting is on the wall. Who can read it? Hosea 4:1-3 verse 3(languish) become weak- THE NEWS broadcast Texas has lost thirty thousand cattle beast of the field –News reported. The foul (birds) of heaven fell from the sky dead without and explanation. News broadcast thousand of tilapia fish wash up on the banks dead, no explanation. Yes, the fish of the sea shall be taken away- when I saw the broadcast I cried out to God what meant this, God said the church is sleep!! Wake up and let us repent– Let us cry out like never before. God took me into the sprit realm and this is what I saw . A Famine on the land, the water shortage was first, much

Those who will take heed to this warning and store up water, dry goods will have a stay before the LORD for the arm of protection. The famine will effect the cities the hardest, first Texas,California, New York and Chicago but the famine will be worldwide. The people in the city will immigrate south. No one will expect the church will fill up, people will seek a word from the True men and Women of God. I do not write this for your approval . When God showed me this I cried how long will this famine last? God answer was it will depend on how quick my people repent, II chronicles 7:14 God said warn my people about the famine, I said God they won’t believe me. God said they didn’t believe Noah their unbelief did not stop the flood. Warn my people when you see me, I’m not looking for you to say I believe or say I don’t believe. I want us to repent as God creation and tell God we are Godly sorry for our sins and that our heart will return to Him. The famines are on the way, the earth will become extremely hot and dry, and pestilence (bugs, mosquitoes, gnats, etc.) will become very bad. Everything will move out the forest when the water shortage starts. God is sending the famine but he loves so much he gave us a way to survive, the

“The Close Up” Gospel Doctor Gospel Artist: Ida Hudson (Chicago, IL) CD Release: Let Your Light Shine (2010) Gospel Doctor: How did your gospel music ministry begin? Ida Hudson: Well first let me say that I’m not your average artist, you know the kind that came from a singing family or grew up singing in the church. I loved church and my family, but my gospel music ministry started from a dream (vision) that God gave me about being a song writer and singer. Gospel Doctor: Looking back on the rich influence of traditional gospel music and quartet to the new contemporary style, what would you say to individuals interested in the music ministry now? Ida Hudson: It’s a great ministry to be involved in, but it is important to know that it first must be a ministry to you (self). It is also important for new artists to be honest and open to the Holy Spirit as well as the community. God’s people need God’s word, and through song many will listen and hear the message. Gospel Doctor: And all of your music is originally written? Ida Hudson: Yes, I write all of my songs. The bible inspires me to write, I write from the word of God so that the people of God will hear the message. I pray a lot, as well as meditate and God reveals my music to me, its a gift. I love what I do. Gospel Doctor: You have so many songs, which song(s) are your favorite to perform? Ida Hudson: “Jesus is the Answer”...it is a testimony for me and to the world, that Jesus is the only way and the only answer to any and every problem! Life is all about living for him that in all things we give glory to him. This one I wrote with our children in mind because there are so many who don’t know him. Gospel Doctor: Thank you so much for sharing your gift with God’s people and allowing his message to go forth. It is a blessing to have your CD available to all whom are seeking...”Jesus is the Answer”. This is the Gospel Doctor Reporting Live from Jackson, MS!!! The Close Up Gospel News Magazine, P.O. MARRING FOR GOD Over 6000 years ago, God created Adam and Eve. Male and female He created them in his image and likeness for His and their eternal joy and happiness. The first blessing that God gave them, as they were growing up in the garden as brother and sister, was ‘Be Fruitful’. To become Fruitful means to become spiritually and emotionally mature(perfect, complete). Like a tree that has to grow to maturity in order to fulfill its purpose of bearing fruit of the highest quality, Adam and Eve were to grow up and substantially embody God’s true love and bear that quality of fruit (Matt 5:48) The manifestation of God’s original ideal world required His children’s obedience to His commandment “DO NOT EAT of the fruit.” God watched and waited as His handsome son and His beautiful daughter grew up in the Garden while being cared for by the archangel. Once Adam and Eve had matured and inherited the true love of God by became fruitful, (ready for a true marriage), God wanted to bless them in a beautiful Holy Wedding and sanctify their eternal ONENESS. We know that holy wedding did not happen at that time. God watched His pure blood lineage, became tainted by Satan, the false father. This brought excruciating pain to the heart of God. Heaven and Earth were being torn apart. It agonized God more than any earthly father that had ever worked and sweated all his life to accumulate assets for his children, only to have a thief steal everything in one night. Heaven and Earth were torn apart. Due to the disobedience of his son and daughter, which resulted in their

Page 37

spiritual death, God lost everything, and was forced to hand over ownership of the nations and the world to Satan. God is our True Heavenly Parent, and we can read throughout biblical history that He never stopped trying to reclaim us from Satan’s bondage. God has suffered in pain and sorrow in the background of human history as He relentlessly struggled to bring us back to Him. After thousands of years, God could finally bless a couple in that long awaited holy wedding ceremony that would start His True lineage on the earth. For the first time in human history a man succeeded in attaining the original position of Adam. This Adam secured the status of the owner of True Love, and received God’s anointing as the True Parent of humanity. The horizontal True Parents have come to rescue fallen humanity. This is the highest and the greatest blessing humanity has ever received. We are in the era when marriage can finally receive God’s Blessing. Brothers and sisters, if you don’t have a mate, pray for God to lead them to you. Preparations are being made for the next Holy Wedding Blessing ON JANUARY 13, 2013. It offers the grace of being grafted to the true olive tree. It was instituted by the True Parents, Rev Sun Myung Moon and Dr Hak Ja Han Moon, who bring God’s true blood lineage to humankind. The Holy Wedding is God’s way of reclaiming His children that were stolen from Him by Satan. God longs to finally bless ALL of His children and multiply His lineage. ONE FAMILY UNDER GOD.

To Preach God’s Word Is To Give Information GLASS OF MILK One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water! She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it so slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you?” You don’t owe me anything,” she replied. “Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness.”He said ... “Then I thank you from my heart.”As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit. Many year’s later that same young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor’s gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to her case. After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on

the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words ...”Paid in full with one glass of milk”(Signed) Dr. Howard Kelly. Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: “Thank You, God, that Your love has spread broad through human hearts and hands.”There’s a saying which goes something like this: Bread cast on the water comes back to you. The good deed you do today may benefit you or someone you love at the least expected time. If you never see the deed again at least you will have made the world a better place - And, after all, isn’t that what life is all about?

5 Things Bands Can Do to Book More Live Shows Upload a live performance video on YouTube that represents your band at its best. Include a phone number and e-mail address too, so that anyone who wants to book you can contact you easily. Say something like “Contact ________ to book us for a live show.” To show professionalism and interest, try your best to respond to every inquiry within 48 hours. 2. Print up nice business cards …with your band name, links to your music, live videos, and a phone number and e-mail address that can be reached for booking purposes. Also, include a link to your website so they can learn more about you. You’d be surprised how many bands STILL write down their phone numbers on dirty napkins and torn pieces of paper. Wherever you go, tell people who you are, how good you are, where you are playing next, and how easy it is for them to book you directly. 3. Go watch other bands that sound like you. If there are any bands in your area with large followings, get out to a couple shows and become friends with other bands. Ask the bigger bands to let you open for them, maybe in exchange for some kind of help like designing a website, flyer, banner, etc. The harder you work for a band bigger than your band, and the more respectful you are to them and their efforts, the more likely they will consider you for an opening slot. Talk up how good your band is and why you are better than similar bands in the area. 4. Tell your fans how easy it is to book you. Wherever you play – the street, house party, club or major venue, make sure your fans are aware that you’re willing to play anywhere. After playing a gig, you should walk around the audience, engage people, ask them what they thought of the show, and let them know you are available to play live anywhere they want you too. Telling them that will definitely help you stand out from the pack. 5. Get guerrilla. Set up wherever there is a crowd of people who might like your music and play for them. Club, high school, venue, and stadium parking lots. How many tailgate parties do you think would love some free entertainment? Play outside clubs where bands are playing that fit in with your style of music. Those people waiting in line are going to be bored, so playing a spontaneous gig right on the spot will definitely make an unforgettable impression.

Indie Music Tips – 1. Believe In Your Product

4. Use Google Alerts

It’s difficult to look someone in the eye and ask them to buy something you don’t believe is a good deal. The idea is to focus on giving a potential buyer something of value at a fair price. Don’t underestimate the intelligence and intuition of your fans – and remember, nothing is more powerful in sales than the truth. The first step is creating a product that you believe in. Your belief and enthusiasm will shine through.

The best way to make sure you catch every press write-up or album review (or even just fans talking about you online) is to use Google Alerts. With Google Alerts, you’ll receive an email any time Google indexes a new instance or mention of your band or artist name on the web. (You can adjust your settings to specify how often you get emailed.) Use it to track album reviews, press mentions, fans talking about your music, and show reviews.

2. More Music – Less Marketing 5. EQ With Mic Placement Spend less time on marketing and more time making sure you have a product worth marketing. There is more music out there than ever before – everyone you know is a musician, or at least a hobbyist, and consumers are very jaded. Before shotgunning your product and blogging and tweeting about your new release, make sure you have a product that is not only competitive, but stronger than most of the stuff you see and hear, or it’s over before it starts.

The closer a microphone is to the center of the speaker, the more low and high end will be picked up. As the microphone is moved to the outside of the cone, the midrange becomes clearer. The angle of the microphone in relation to the cone can also change the tone of the guitar sound. Angling the microphone 45 degrees outward will reduce the upper midrange frequencies. Angling the microphone 45 degrees inward will increase low midrange frequencies.

3. Before you look for a manager…

6. More isn’t always better.

Before seeking out a music manager, have most of these items together: no apology recordings of your music; professional photos; a basic website with a custom URL; a mailing list and a place where people can sign up; a social network presence; live performance footage (preferably in front of a crowd); and a well-written bio. Having these materials will get you more gigs, taken more seriously by your peers and fans, and will ultimately help you build a business in music.

Having more songs doesn’t necessarily make a better record. While 40-45 minutes is a time bite easily digestible for a listener, 60-70 minutes may not be. At worst, the extra songs could be perceived as filler. You might consider filling the additional space available on a CD with enhanced materials, like a video, photos, wallpaper, or a digital press kit. Adding value by way of extra goodies on the disc can easily outweigh filling up the CD with “B-side” content.

2 Music Licensing Tips: How to get your music ready for Film and TV If you’re like many independent artists trying to get your music heard far and wide, you might dream of having your music licensed for use in movies and TV shows. Music placement can indeed be a potent career booster – when it comes to visibility, credibility, and getting paid – but it’s a tough world to break into, and many talented artists don’t know where to start. Here are some tips to help you get your house in order before you ever talk to a music supervisor on the phone – so when that precious licensing opportunity comes, you’ll be ready. 1. Get the levels and format right. “It’s very important to get your tracks mastered,” says Lindsay Fellows, music supervisor for movies like The Avengers, Bridge to Terabithia, and Journey to the Center of the Earth. “It’s a good spend. You end up with a volume level that is going to be competitive with major label commercial releases. A lot of indie stuff I get is 30 decibels lower than major releases. It’s flat and it doesn’t pop, which isn’t good.” When it comes to file format, diversity is key. “MP3s are usually fine to start off with,” says music supervisor Gary Calamar, who has worked on shows like Weeds, True Blood, and Men of a Certain Age. “If we end up using the song in production, I will need a higher quality WAV or AIFF.” Make sure that you have both the lowrez MP3 and higher rez WAV or AIFF files ready to go. 2. Choose your very best music. “Focus on your strongest material,” says Fellows. “Either tag your physical CD with standout tracks or, if you’re sending MP3s, send your three best songs.” But how do you know which tunes are your most powerful? “Choose the ones that work best live, the ones that your friends say are great,” advises Fellows. “Music supervisors look for a mood,” adds Cheryl B. Engelhardt, an indie singer and songwriter who has had music placed in shows like The Real World and All My Children. “If a song doesn’t evoke a lot of emotion, it won’t do anything on screen. When I was choosing which songs to push for placement, I asked a lot of people. And even though I took everyone’s advice with a grain of salt, it turned out that my favorite songs to play live are also the most licensable. It just kind of works that way.” Choosing your best songs also means choosing your best recordings – and the vast majority of the time, that means nothing that isn’t the finished, polished master track. “I do want the final version of the song,” said Calamar. “Sending me an unfinished demo to check out is generally a waste of my time.” More in next issue Gospel News Magazine, P.O. Latest Drug in Middle School - Dusting ‘Dusting’ First, I’m going to tell you a little about me and my family. My name is Jeff. I am a Police Officer for a city which is known nationwide for its crime rate. We have a lot of gangs and drugs. At one point we were # 2 in the nation in homicides per capita. I also have a police K-9 named Thor. He was certified in drugs and general duty. He retired at 3 years old because he was shot in the line of duty. He lives with us now and I still train with him because he likes it. I always liked the fact that there was no way to bring drugs into my house. Thor wouldn’t allow it. He would tell on you. The reason I say this is so you understand that I know about drugs.

On March 1st, I left for work at 10 PM. Just before midnight my wife went down and kissed Kyle goodnight. At 5:30 am the next morning Kathy went downstairs to wake Kyle up for school, before she left for work. He was propped up in bed with his legs crossed and his head leaning over. She called to him a few times to get up. He didn’t move. He would sometimes tease her like this and pretend he fell back asleep. He was never easy to get up. She went in and shook his arm. He fell over. He was pale white and had the straw from the Dust Off can coming out of his mouth. He had the new can of Dust Off in his hands. Kyle was dead.

I have taught in schools about drugs. My wife asks all our kids at least once a week if they used any drugs.

I am a police officer and I had never heard of this. My wife is a nurse and she had never heard of this. We later found out from the coroner, after the autopsy, that only the propellant from the can of Dust off was in his system. No other drugs. Kyle had died between midnight and 1 AM.

I like building computers occasionally and started building a new one in February 2005. I also was working on some of my older computers. They were full of dust so on one of my trips to the computer store I bought a 3 pack of DUST OFF. Dust Off is a can of compressed air to blow dust off a computer. A few weeks later when I went to use one of them they were all used. I talked to my kids and my two sons both said they had used them on their computer and messing around with them. I yelled at them for wasting the 10 dollars I paid for them. On February 28 I went back to the computer store. They didn’t have the 3 pack which I had bought on sale so I bought a single jumbo can of Dust Off. I went home and set it down beside my computer.

I found out that using Dust Off is being done mostly by kids ages 9 through 15. They even have a name for it. It’s called dusting, a take off from the Dust Off name. It gives them a slight high for about 10 seconds. It makes them dizzy. A boy who lives down the street from us showed Kyle how to do this about a month before. Kyle showed his best friend. Told him it was cool and it couldn’t hurt you. It’s just compressed air. It can’t hurt you. His best friend said so. Kyle was wrong. It’s not just compressed air. Continue from page 46 Kyle was wrong. It’s not just compressed air. It also contains a propellant called R2. It’s a refrigerant like what is used in your refrigerator. It is a heavy gas, heavier than air. When you inhale it, it fills your lungs and keeps the good air, with oxygen, out. That’s why you feel dizzy, buzzed. It decreases the oxygen to your brain, to your heart. IT KILLS YOU.

The horrible part about this is there is no warning. There is no level that kills you. It’s not cumulative or an overdose; it can just go randomly, terribly wrong. IT’S NOT AN OVERDOSE . You don’t die later,

3 Sales Tips for Independent Artists Sell your music better and you’ll have resources to make more music, better-sounding music, and get more people to hear it. 1. Believe In Your Product It’s difficult to look someone in the eye and ask them to buy something that you don’t believe is a good deal for them. If you’re trying to sell a CD to someone for $10 that you believe is worth $5 then you’re going to have a hard time selling it. The idea is to focus on ‘giving’ them something that’s valuable to them at a fair price. You can always tell when someone is just trying to ‘get’ something from you. Don’t underestimate the intelligence and intuition of your fans. Nothing is more powerful in sales than the truth. The first step is creating a product that you believe in. Your belief and enthusiasm will shine through. 2. Examine Your Beliefs About Sales Sales is really just about connecting people with things that are valuable to them. If you have other feelings that make it difficult for you to sell then you might want to examine your beliefs. Try this: Get out a piece of paper and write the words “People who sell are…” and then write down the first 10 things that come to mind without censoring your thoughts in any way. The first step to changing your beliefs to something more empowering is to become aware of what your beliefs are. You may have had bad experiences in the past or inherited beliefs from your parents that are holding you back. Once you become fully aware of what you believe you have the power to choose and adopt more powerful and supportive beliefs. If you have a hard time promoting or asking people to buy things from you then you’re going to be severely handicapped in your efforts to make money with your music. If you get these first two right then this should get much easier. 3. Have a Clear Pitch You need to be clear in your communication from the stage, on your website and beyond. Ex. “We have CDs and T-shirts in the back. Go see Tina – she’s right over there.” Have clear and clean linked images on your website where people can purchase your music and merchandise. Remove obstacles and make buying easy.Repetition, Repetition, Repetition Sales are not usually made on the first pitch. Tell people more than once that you have CDs and merch for sale. Make your mailing list a priority and put clear purchase links in all of the emails. Selling as an indie artist is not a one-shot deal. Gospel News Magazine, P.O.
