ebruary 10th, 2020 is the first anniversary of a historic day that was proclaimed and decreed one year earlier. What was that historic day? CECIL BROWN DAY was declared by the Mayor and Board of County Commissioners of Miami-Dade County, Florida (population 2.76 million).

that day off from work and everyone everywhere is supposed to buy ME an expensive gift! I'm just playin'. (Or am I?)

Miami-Dade County, Florida includes such world-renown cities as Miami, Miami Beach, Miami Gardens, North Miami, Coral Gables, Doral, Hialeah, Homestead, Pinecrest, Coconut Grove, Palmetto Bay and more. MDC is also where numerous celebrities and others live, vacation, do business and/or own property. But why did this global destination choose to recognize and honor Cecil Brown with this prestigious decree? The document at right says, "because of exemplary achievements" (such as publishing Gospel USA Magazine) "which symbolize the characteristics which make Miami-Dade County a thriving metropolis" – and more. Read the full text in the document. We all know what to do on other historic days that have been proclaimed – such as Christmas, Easter, Passover, New Years Day, Thanksgiving and others. But what are we supposed to do on Cecil Brown Day? Well, here is my suggestion: Everybody everywhere is supposed to take

wenty-two-year-old acclaimed singer-songwriter Jekalyn Carr earned her 4th career Billboard Top 5 radio hit and her second this year within months. Her chart-climbing song, "I See Miracles," spent its 5th week in the Top 5 on Billboard's Gospel Airplay chart in November. "It's Yours" maintained that position for 9 weeks. "It's Yours" follows 2018's GRAMMY®-nominated song, "You Will Win," – which spent six weeks atop the list (Feb. 3, 2018). spotlightgospel chorale James Fortune's New Album, Dream Again, Garners Hit Single, "I Am"

ames Fortune understands that if you're going to preach redemption in the 21st century, you're going to have to make a production of it – and his albums are a bit like urban gospel hip-hop soul revues all done up in showbiz style on Broadway – complete with Fortune's spoken, sung and shouted encouragement. As much or more a preacher, choir leader, master of ceremonies and worship service manager as he is a straight-up singer – Fortune's strength is in understanding how to put gospel and praise songs over to a young 21st century audience. With his featured choir, FIYA (which stands for Free in Yahweh's Abundance), Fortune freely incorporates hip-hop arrangements and urban beats into his recordings. His latest album is entitled, Dream Again. The album contains 12 tracks, including the hit single, "I Am," which features Deborah Carolina (Fiya World Music Group / Entertainment One). As of press time in early December 2019, "I Am" had been charted at #1 on Billboard's Gospel Airplay Chart for nine consecutive weeks. In addition, on, the song had garnered over 6.8 million streams from listeners in 79 countries. More at and Facebook.

"Can I Trust You?" by Bishop Huden S. Roberts. It has been said that the richest place on earth is the cemetery. This statement is true because most of us never really reach our true potential in life. This book speaks very clearly about how you ought to make the time to study and develop your God-given gifts and talents – then share them with the world. Most of our time is spent wondering if we can trust God, but in this God-mandated book, God asks you... "Can I trust YOU? Read this book and begin to discover true life – the God kind of life. askdr. carl Dr. Carl answers your questions Dear Dr. Carl:

Should Christians Carry Guns To Protect Themselves? – D. Harry Dear D. Harry: In this day of increased danger and lawlessness, it seems as if more and more Christians are turning to firearms in order to protect themselves. Often people who live in rural areas have guns to fend off wild animals. Others such as hunters may possess a gun as a sporting tool. Gun ownership is a personal decision. I will say this, however: followers of Christ should be aware of His teaching in Saint Matthew 26:52 that says all who take (up) the sword shall perish with the sword. If you think that you need a gun for protection, remember that when Paul and Silas were locked in jail, they prayed and sang praises. God dispatched an angel to set them free. Daniel was in the lions' den, yet the Lord protected him there, just as He protected Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the fire in the furnace. David testifies of God's ability to keep us from danger in Psalm 139:10, which says God shall hold us in His right hand. Saints of old, who did not carry guns, used to "plead the Blood" whenever in danger. There are many other references in the Bible that speak to this issue. Study the Word, then decide for yourself. Whether or not you carry a gun is up to you. – Dr. Carl
