Seasons Come and Seasons Go

by Leslie Bennett

Daylight hours are getting longer. Trees are beginning to turn green again. Flowers are budding as they get ready to bloom. The earth is bursting with new beginnings. Spring is here!

However, there are seasons of the year and there are seasons of the soul. The problem is, the outward seasons do not always match our inward seasons.

The internal seasons go deeper into the depths of our soul. They are personal and interwoven into the human fabric of our being. We experience different stages of spiritual development. Although spring has arrived, you may still be stuck in a season of winter inwardly.

It isn’t possible to always live life in the season of the soul we choose. There are reasons for the deeper, darker, colder seasons. We must take the time to look deep within ourselves. We must reflect on the mistakes we have made, the opportunities we have missed, the losses we have experienced, and the disappointments we have felt. We may feel frozen, trapped, buried under our circumstances. It is during these seasons that we must be still and wait on the Lord.

“Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge Him. As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth” (Hosea 6:3).

If you are still held in a season of winter, don’t rush it! Allow God to speak to you there. You have not been abandoned or forsaken. The Lord is preparing you for a new path ahead. Spring is just around the corner for you. There is hope!

“The Son Is Shining”

As the rain beats down on the dainty daisy, Its delicate petals bow low. After the rain when the sun starts to shine, The daisy lifts up its face all aglow.

A Christian under a similar burden may fall When troubles and trials weigh him down.

Yet when he feels the Son shining on him, He lifts up his face free of frown.
