Raquel and Ryan’s wedding day dawned sunny and beautiful, and continued to be perfect into the evening. Paper hearts on dowels lined the aisle to the ceremony gazebo. Inside the Club, chalkboard signs welcomed their 160 guests and directed them to the ceremony and reception sites. The couple’s 14 member wedding party included Ryan’s brother Matthew as Best Man, Matthew’s wife Rhonda as bridesmaid and Natalia Figura as Maid of Honour. Young cousins Peyton and James De Rosa were ring bearer and flower girl. Dressed in a mermaid style gown by favourite designer Lazaro, Raquel looked forward to walking down the aisle and seeing her groom. “I thought I would be nervous but when I walked down the aisle and saw Ryan, I don’t think I’ve ever smiled so much,” Raquel recalled fondly. “When my Dad gave me away, Ryan said I looked beautiful. Unknown to us, his microphone was on. His words caused some tears among our guests. Our pastor was Roelof Peereboom, husband of our amazing photographer Kristin.” At the reception, tables were adorned with candles set in lace-circled mason jars on wooden bases cut and finished by Raquel’s Dad. Guests dined on salad and pasta, a meal celebrating the Italian heritage of the bride’s family. The newlyweds chose to have a naked – icing-free – chocolate wedding cake decorated with real flowers and powdered sugar. “It sounds weird, but it looked great,” said Raquel. During the reception, two of Ryan’s uncles played the song for the mother and son dance with one, Uncle Ralph, also providing the vocals. Music selected by DJ Michael Roberts of DJ Master Mix was popular with dancers of all ages. Between dances, guests grabbed props and posed in the photo booth. Raquel and Ryans’ fabulous wedding day was followed by a surprise for the bride - a honeymoon road trip to historical Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and a relaxing stay at Virginia Beach.
