There is something to be said about a man who proposes while touring a reception venue ‘just to see’ where they may marry one day.

aniel Albert was that romantic, audacious man. Daniel and his love Raeanne Kupraty toured Belcroft Estates, a splendid restored rustic barn and event centre in Gilford, Ontario, in March 2015. He knew Raeanne was interested in marrying there when the time came and organized a family outing to see the space. “During the tour, he proposed to me with a ring on the covered bridge,” Raeanne recounted with a smile. “We went directly inside and booked our wedding for June 4, 2016. Six is my favourite number and four is Daniel’s favourite and soccer number, so that date was perfect! My Mom, brother Daniel and my Matron of Honour Marianna Peluso Andreacchi were with us, and we FaceTimed my Dad in Florida. Daniel gave me roses and had brought champagne for everyone. Later I learned he had gone shopping for my ring with Marianna and planned the roses and champagne with her.” Belcroft Estates is a tree farm, but couples started asking to be married there. A gazebo for wedding ceremonies and a marque tent for up to 250 guests were added. The property’s long lanes, old train cars and the covered bridge are perfect places for wedding photos. After Raeanne and Daniel exchanged vows, their 140 guests filled the air with cheery clouds of bubbles. The reception began with a tradition celebrating Raeanne’s Ukranian heritage. “When Daniel and I walked into the barn, we had a shot of vodka with our godparents in front of the head table,” the bride said. “My brother Daniel talked about this tradition and what it means. Then my brother gave his speech to Dan and I, followed by Marianna, my Matron of Honour, Matthew the Best Man, and Daniel’s brother, and both sets of parents.”
