near the cottage, where Amy attended mass in the summer while growing up. Mike’s uncle, Father Frank McDevitt, married them. “It was special because his uncle married Mike’s sister and her husband,” said Amy. “He also baptized our baby daughter Ella who was born in the spring of 2016. The church was very warm, but Father Frank is good at keeping things quick.” Wedding party outfits were planned for the hot summer weather. The bridesmaids’ light pink sweetheart dresses were short and simple. The bride’s tea length white gown featured a pink tulle underlay echoing the bridesmaids’ frocks. The reception décor was simple and elegant with white linens, white flowers, 18 Wedding trends 2017

chair bows and lots of candles. The tent ceiling was swagged with white linen and soft white lights. After dinner, DJ Josh Fournier got the party started with dance music designed to get everyone moving. The end of the night was a memorable one. Guests lit and released 150 Chinese lanterns and watched them float off over Georgian Bay through the clear, calm evening. A friend’s drone caught the entire spectacle on video. When looking back on their wedding day, new mom Amy cherishes the memory of her husband staying right by her side during their entire wedding day. “I don’t think Mike stopped holding my hand the whole day which was amazing,” said Amy. “We don’t like to be in the spotlight and we were both nervous. The ceremony was wonderful, but the memory of Mike not leaving my side is pretty incredible.”
