location for their 120 guests. It was also a sentimental choice as the city where Jamie and Robert bought their first home. With an amazing view of Kempenfelt Bay and plenty of space, Southshore Centre was a stunning venue that required a minimum of reception décor to take advantage of its stylish features. “The entire back wall of the hall is windows overlooking the Bay,” said Jamie. “There are windows on the side as well and high ceilings. Decoration was mainly on the tables. For the centrepieces, a tall vase holding a floating orchid was lit by a light in the rocks on the bottom.” The bride arrived at the Southshore Centre in her Dad’s treasured 1972 Oldsmobile. The burnt orange vehicle was also featured in photos with the bride and groom. “When my Dad was leaving with the car, everyone was telling him to do a burnout,” smiles Jamie. “My Mom said he wouldn’t do it, but he did. After the pictures, I think he had a friend drive the car back to the hotel. He doesn’t take this car out in the rain, so the fact that he drove it from Sarnia to Barrie was a big deal.” After the wedding ceremony, guests sat down for a plated meal followed by a scrumptious dessert buffet. Rob’s cousin Janet, a cake maker, created a small black and white wedding cake for the couple. The exquisite cake had little pearls on the sides, a black ribbon around the bottom and a black fondant bow on top. Janet also made cupcakes filled with caramel cream. DJ Matt Williams supplied the tunes that brought everyone to the dance floor after a choreographed first dance by the bride and groom to “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran. The couple had prepared for their rumba with dance lessons. “We only took five lessons, so it wasn’t like ‘Dancing With the Stars’,” said Jamie with a smile. “He swung me out, we did a dip and he picked me up at the end.” Jamie and Robert’s wishes for their wedding day were to get married and have a great celebration with all of their friends and family. Making those wishes come true while staying within their budget was due largely to the generous help from the grateful couple’s friends and family. The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Greece, visiting Athens for a day before sailing to Santorini and Mykolos.
