YOUTH SOCCER 3-5 YEAR OLD SOCCER The soccer program will introduce preschoolers to basic soccer skills such as dribbling, shooting, and passing as well as give them a solid foundation for the future. The emphasis is on having fun while playing the great game of soccer and not on winning.
SCHEDULE: Tuesday Thursday Saturday
6:00 pm to 7:00 pm 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm 10:00 am to 11:00 am
Ages: 3-5 (born between August 1, 2007 and July 31, 2009)
Practices are held once a week on Tue or Thur evenings (you will choose which night during registration) and games are held Saturday morning. Practices begin the week of March 26 and the first game is March 30. the season concludes on May 11. The Y is a volunteer organization that relies on volunteer coaches and team parents to help run the program. We are always in need of more people to help coach. U6, U8, U10 , U12 SOCCER The Goochland Y and GUSA are excited to offer 2013 soccer programs for youth ages 6-12. the program is designed to provide a safe family friendly environment for children of all levels to learn about the beautiful game of soccer. Our goal is to increase the opportunity for youth to play soccer by offering two practice schedules for parents.
YMCA afterschool practices: transportation is
provided from Byrd, Goochland and Randolph elementary Schools to the Y for practices afterschool until 5:30. U6 and U8 practice once a week and U10 and U12 will practice twice a week
GUSA: offers practices during after work hours. U6 and U8 practice once a week and U10 and U12 will practice twice a week
AGE REQUIRMENTS U6—Born between August 1, 2006 and July 31, 2007 U8—Born between August 1, 2004 and July 31, 2006 U10—Born between August 1, 2002 and July 31, 2004 U12—Born between August 1, 2000 and July 31, 2002
FEES: $95 includes a soccer jersey, shorts, and socks.
SCHEDULE U6 and U8 season will begin in mid-March and end in late May U10 and U12 season will begin in late Feb and end in late May

We are always looking for volunteers to step in and be a HERO for our community. The success of the YMCA sports programs are due in large part to the strength of our volunteer program. The Goochland Family YMCA has partnered with the Piedmont Family YMCA to bring lacrosse to Goochland. As one of the fastest growing team sports in the United States, lacrosse builds speed, agility, and coordination as well as teamwork and confidence. Recognizing that while skills and drills are critical to the improvement of your child, making the sport FUN is essential to developing the passion for the game and we aim to create a fun yet competitive atmosphere.
AGES: Boys age groups are K - 1st grade, 2nd grade - 3rd grade, and 4th grade - 5th grade. grade and 3rd - 4th grade.
Girls age groups are K - 2nd
SCHEDULE: Practices start in early March and games are played on
Saturday and/or Sundays mid-March thru mid-May. Games will be played in Charlottesville and in Goochland. All practices will be in Goochland. Exact schedule will be given closer to the season opener.
FEES: $115—Facility Members $135—Community Members IMPORTANT: In order to field a full team, we must have 12 - 18 players in
each age group. If we have less than 12 players we will not be able to play as a team.
Equipment Needed: The Goochland Y will provide all the equipment for interested players. If you would like to purchase your own equipment the following equipment is needed:
Boys: lacrosse stick, helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, mouth piece Girls: lacrosse stick, goggles, mouth piece.

T-BALL The Goochland YMCA T-ball program is a skill development program designed to introduce children to the basics of the Great American pastime. Have your little slugger learn the basics such as catching, throwing, running the bases and, everyone’s favorite, hitting.
SCHEDULE: Practices and Games will both occur on Monday evenings beginning at 5:30/ Practice will take place from 5:30 - 6:00 and the game will take place from 6:00 - 7:00. At the beginning of the season more emphasis will be on the practice portion and as the season progresses the kids will play longer games.
LOCATION: All games and practices will take place at the baseball field located on the J Sergeant Reynolds Campus

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT FLAVOR OF DANCE
Learn the joy of movement to music with the Goochland Family YMCA's flavor of dance class. This all-level dance class is geared towards American dance styles, such as Broadway-based numbers, jazz, modern and even hip-hop. The goal is to promote a positive body image, learn some basic and mid-level dance moves and introduce youth to the wonderful world of dance.
This progressive program for children ages 6 - 12 is divided into six levels rangering from beginner to advanced. Beginners focus on developing freestyle, emphasizing proper rotary breathing, while advanced levels focus on other skills such as backstroke. Classes range in length from 30 - 45 minutes depending on skill level.
Dance classes will be held at Goochland Family YMCA on Tuesday afternoons from 3:00—5:30. Transportation will be provided from Byrd and Goochland Elementary School.

Using the floor, balance beam, bar, and mini trampoline, children will be introduced to beginning skills and vocabulary to teach them the basics of gymnastics. We will also work on strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance.

Transportation Authorization/Rules: My child has permission to be transported by a YMCA vehicle and participate in all YMCA program activities and my child must follow these basic safety rules while being transported. With the first infraction, a parent will be notified and asked to discuss proper behavior with his/her child. With the second infraction, transportation services may be denied for a minimum of two days, and the parent will be notified. With the third infraction, transportation services will be terminated. - No fighting, swearing or abusive behavior - Must remain seated properly with seat belt on at all times. - Cannot have any part of his/her body out of the vehicle. - No eating or drinking on the vehicle. - May throw nothing out of the window. - Potentially dangerous actions will not be tolerated. - Must be respectful to and listen to the bus driver. Parent Statement of Understanding: - I understand the YMCA Staff and Volunteers are prohibited from babysitting or transporting children in their personal vehicles at any time outside of the YMCA program(s). - I understand that I am not to leave my child at the YMCA of Greater Richmond or program site unless a YMCA Staff is there to receive and supervise my child. - I understand that my child will not be allowed to leave the program with an unauthorized person. Any person authorized to pick-up my child must either be listed with the YMCA of Greater Richmond or other arrangements must be made by calling the YMCA office to inform them of a change. - Failure to update personal information may result in withdrawal from the program. Emergency Medical Authorization: I give the YMCA of Greater Richmond permission for my child to be given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid treatment by a qualified staff member of the YMCA of Greater Richmond. The Goochland Family YMCA agrees to notify the parent/guardian whenever the child becomes ill and the parent/ guardian will arrange to have the child picked up as soon as possible if so requested. The parent/guardian authorizes the Goochland Family YMCA to obtain immediate medical care if any emergency occurs when the parent/guardian cannot be located immediately. The parent/guardian agrees to inform the Goochland Family YMCA within 24 hours or the next business day after his/ her child or any member of the immediate household has developed a reportable communicable disease, as defined by the State Board of Health, except for life threatening diseases which much be reported immediately.

Disciplinary and Behavior Management Policy: The YMCA of Greater Richmond will not tolerate unacceptable behavior and the consequences will be explained to our program participants. Participation in an activity will be denied for repeated poor behavior and the child will be directed to an alternate activity. The parent/guardian will be informed by phone, in writing and through parent/guardian conferences, if the child continues to display poor behavior. Physical discipline will not be used nor will food be denied as punishment. If the unacceptable behavior endangers another’s safety or the child’s safety, immediate suspension/termination may result. The parent/guardian of the child will be notified and the child MUST be picked up WITHIN ONE HOUR after notification. If you are unable to pick up your child immediately, please make other arrangements for someone to pick up your child immediately. Failure to pick up your child within ONE HOUR after notification may result in withdrawal from the program.
Failure to comply with the following rules may result in an unacceptable behavior notification: - Repeatedly engaging in fighting (physical aggression) as a way to solve an issue. - Stealing of defacing YMCA or other’s property. - Refusing to follow basic safety rules. - Repeated disrespect for staff or rude and discourteous behavior toward other children. - Repeatedly displaying an inability to follow established guidelines. - Any act(s) that is(are) deemed unsafe or unacceptable as determined by the staff. The YMCA requires the support of the parent/guardian in encouraging appropriate behavior of their child. The YMCA staff will strive to provide a safe and fun environment for all program participants; however, the YMCA will not allow children who continually display disruptive behavior to hinder the safety or enjoyment of others.
