The building geometry was inspired in the particular shape of the terrain. This characteristic gave the building a strong personality, which is reflected in the interior spaces, giving the school a particular and dynamic space quality. Horizontal and vertical windows works as sunscreens as well as a light filters. Common use areas are characterized by angular spaces and lines.

Natural lighting in corridors brings warmth to the space while contributes to energy saving. Due to region´s climate, white was the color selected for the entire exterior surfaces, which will help reflecting sun radiation as well as saving energy.

The new building will be located between two highly recognized places, the Monjes Agustinos Winery and the Mamallama Farm. The main idea came out inspired in the colorful mountains of Santa Maria. This mountains have, mainly, vertical stripes and incredible colours that plays with light and shadows. The main facade is composed by a large red plane, which represents the passion of teachers and students, vertical windows that mimics mountain cracks and an inclined roof that rises as protagonist. On the other hand, white volumes contrast with natural stone, concrete, and an inclined roof rises as a protagonist.

special school #6 An inclined plane welcomes the students in the main hall, playing with their perception as well as giving warmth to the space. As this school is for special children, senses have an essential role in this building. Wood, stone, glass, concrete, different textures encourages the students to explore their perception.

SCHOOL CHILDREN

FOR

A water fountain together with a double facade will help to improve interior air quality, at the same time that will naturally illuminate the main hall. Entrances will be characterized by different perfumes: The Main entrance will be characterized by Jasmine plants, and Kindergarten´s entrance by Lavender plants. Another double facade is placed in the Museum of the school to provide the space with soft indirect illumination. Finally, a second water fountain is placed in the central school yard; this fountain has different heights waterfalls to orientate children in space.

BLIND 998

school for blind and visually impaired children #998 Since this school is for visually impaired children, senses were an essential part in the development of this educational building; different textures, perfumes and sounds will be used to guide the students. The different levels of the visual abilities are represented by a perforated double facade which’s transparency level fades away on the top.

adult´s school #31 The building is located in a farm area characterized by a dense vegetation. The main idea was to incorporate literally a small forest inside the building. This forest will improve air quality by decreasing and purifying external air. The roof will cover and protect this forest as well as the main hall. The interior equipment is flexible, allowing different configurations. Outside, a terrain will help to rise the thermal inertia.

This project is located in a suburban area. The Tree inspired the idea for the development of the project, imitating how the tree canopy faces the Sun in search of energy, at the same time that leaves creates a safe space from the UVs rays at lower levels, giving shelter for different species. The house is formed by two volumes connected by a gallery. The first volume has a public function (studio/ office), while the other volume contains the house in a more private context.

sustainablehouse The volume consists of a inclined box seeking protect the indoors at the same time the sun gives energy for its functionality. White colour helps reflects radiation efficiently and local wood and stone provides warmth as well as reducing CO2 emission.

The project is located in the neighbourhood of Torre Baro in Barcelona, Spain, a very informal area without any kind of public facilities. The idea was to place a facility that is capable not also to place activities but also to be energy self sufficient and at the same time generate different conditions for the people to use the space freely. The adaptability to different slopes and plots is given by the arrange of modules and a minimal and maximun slope built in design.

m.dusse

(maa final project) Three systems (algae, ferrofulid and sodium acetate) merges with the building to generate energy cicles during the different seasons. The algae produces biosiesel to power up the pumps while at the same purifies water and CO2 sequestration. The ferrofluid captures inner space and sun`s heat to store it in a seasonal storage to use it later during the colder seasons. And the sodium acetate allows the flexibility of the space creatin with the pipes.
