Hosting Foreign Students EF’s mission is to break down barriers in language, culture and geography and help people become citizens of the world. For nearly 50 years EF has welcomed students from all over the world to the UK to stay with local Hosts. Anyone can apply to host students – young, old, single or a couple, with or without children. Exposure to the culture of others is a valuable education for us. The most obvious way to get this exposure is to travel, however sometimes budget simply won’t allow it. Hosting international students can be a great alternative to enrich your life and they are fantastic company! Deciding to host students can also be a useful way to supplement income and help make ends meet. A six week stint in the summer can make a tidy contribution towards a holiday or home improvements. Students are swept up in a whirlwind of English lessons, sports, day trips and local activities from start to finish but are always keen to practice their new found lingo when they come home for their evening meal. Practical planning is straight forward enough – procure some second hand bunk beds, bulk buy the pasta and have an open mind!
