TEACHERS SOAR! A few of Bolton’s Teachers took a helicopter ride over the city of Memphis. The trip is sponsored by the National Guard every year and Bolton represented well!
Look at those smiles! It looks like Ms. Stephenson and Dr. Renaud had a wonderful time.
Meet Mrs. Kathryn Denk, September 2019 Teacher of the Month
This is Mrs. Denk’s 5th year of teaching at Bolton High School, but her 37th year of teaching English, primarily in the Midwest: Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois. She moved from Green Bay, Wisconsin (GO PACKERS!) to Cordova five years ago and has not missed the snow and cold. Mrs. Denk and her husband of 37 years (they started dating in 10th grade, and dated for 6 years before they got married), have two daughters: Jenny, who is finishing her Master’s Degree at the University of Miami in Music Therapy, and Jodi who works for ESPN and helped launch the ACC Network. Jodi used to produce graphics for the NBA; now she produces ACC college sports. Congratulations Mrs. Denk!

September 24, 2019
Greetings Parents and Guardians of Bolton High! Our school’s cellphone policy has been revised to meet the needs of our students, to ensure safety, and to maintain the focus on learning. The increase use of cell phones and personal communication devices by students during the school day has become far more than a distraction in the school environment. These devices are being used by students as a means of cheating on tests, taking inappropriate pictures and video of students and staff for sharing and posting across the internet, threatening and/or bullying other students, and engaging in an excessive amount of social interaction during instructional time. Therefore, all students are banned from possessing any type of phone or personal communication device that is turned on or in visible/audible use at any time during the regular school day. Students who wish to carry a cell phone with them to and from school must keep the device turned off and stored. Students can have the phone stored in their purse, backpack, locker, pocket, or car. All electronic devices, including earbuds, should not be visible during class time or transitioning between classes. District Board Policy #6024 A student found in unauthorized possession of any type of cell phone or communication device during the school day shall have the device taken from him or her and is kept until the parent is notified. The parent may pick up the device at a 2:15 pm from the Main office at the close of the next school day following the day that the parent received notification of confiscated phone. Any cellphone infraction afterwards, students shall receive additional consequences in accordance with the district-wide discipline policy. The District does not take responsibility for confiscated items and will not compensate the owner for any lost, stolen, or damaged confiscated items while in the custody of the District. Thank you for partnering with us in this endeavor! Sincerely,
Shanda Gnintedem Principal, Bolton High

WIFI NETWORK SWITCH Remember to switch over to the new WiFi network before the old network goes offline Oct. 14! On October 14, the District’s current WiFi network will go away for good. Our IT team has upgraded the WiFi network to help keep the District’s info more secure. Plus, they’ve made it a whole lot easier to log in! Make sure you log into the new “SCS_WLAN” network NOW so you don’t lose access. Just use your Active Directory ID, which is the same username and password as your email. It's simple to log in: 1. Select “SCS_WLAN” from the available networks in your device’s WiFi settings. 2. Log in with your Active Directory ID. 3. The first time you log in on a device, you will be asked to trust the certificate. Once you do, you won't be asked again. 4. If you’re a Mac user, there is one extra step. After completing the three steps above, you will see another pop-up window asking for a username and password. For this, you will enter the password for your actual device, not your email password. Once you do, you won’t see the popup again. Need help? Call the IT Help Desk at 416-2700, option 5.
