KYLE GRISWOULD NOTES

n Griswould’s 112 career receptions has him ranked seventh on the all-time list. He needs three more to tie Malcolm Beyah for sixth. n Griswould enters the bowl game with 1,280 career receiving yards and is the sixth receiver under Stockstill to obtain 1,000 career yards (Malcolm Beyah, Anthony Amos, Sancho McDonald, Patrick Honeycutt, Tavarres Jefferson). n Needs 25 more receiving yards to tie Tavarres Jefferson (1,305) for 10th on the all-time list. n In the season opener against WCU, Griswould returned a punt 57 yards for a touchdown. It marked the first punt return for a score since Kerry Wright brought one back at Akron in 2004.

KEVIN BYARD NOTES

n Earned First Team Freshman All-American honors last year by the FWAA. n In 24 career games played, Byard has forced or gained 13 turnovers (9 INTs, 3 FF, 1 FR). n Had his 9th career interception in win over USM, which he returned for a 51-yard TD. Has 5 picks on the season which equals the 8th most in school history.

TAVARRES JEFFERSON NOTES n Owns the Middle Tennessee career record with four

interception returns for touchdowns. n Had a career-best 17 tackles against North Texas. n His 326 interception return yards makes him MT’s all-time leader and currently puts him No. 1 on the NCAA active list. The all-time NCAA record is 501 yards set by Florida State’s Terrell Buckley.

REGGIE WHATLEY NOTES

n Had a career-high 155 yards rushing at UAB and now has three 100-yard games on the season. n Whatley has rushed for a personal-best 631 yards in 2013 and his 6.8 yards per carry average is tops on the team. n Reggie Whatley ranks 29th nationally in kickoff return average this season at 24.7 per attempt. n Had a 96-yard kickoff return for a TD vs WKU in 2012 and a school record 222 kickoff return yards. n Whatley’s 762 kickoff return yards in 2012 ranked 4th on the single-season list. n Whatley currently has 1,247 career kickoff return yards to rank third all-time at MT.

2013 BELL HELICOPTER ARMED FORCES BOWL MIDDLE TENNESSEE FOOTBALL

n Jefferson registered the first 100-yard receiving game of his career in loss to UNC earlier this season. Jefferson turned in a personal best 101 yards on seven catches. n Made game-winning catch with no time left against Marshall and accounted for 70 yards on five catches in final drive. n Jefferson saw his streak of catching at least one pass in 17 straight games come to an end at BYU. n Jefferson’s 126 career receptions (1,305 yards) has him ranked 4th on the career top 10 list at MT. n Ranks 10th on the all-time list in receiving yardage with 1,305. He needs 63 more yards to move past George Dykes for ninth.

ALL-CONFERENCE

n Despite finishing with a 6-2 league record, tying for second in the East Division and defeating the East champion, the Blue Raiders placed just two players on the all-conference team. Linebacker T.T. Barber was the only first team selection while offensive lineman Josh Walker earned second team honors. The following players were placed on the honorable mention team: Kevin Byard, Josh Davis, Darius Johnson, Stephen Roberts and Jimmy Staten.
