20 Goa students ill after eating mid-day meal
Panaji: Twenty students of a secondary school in Goa were admitted to a hospital when they started to vomit after eating the midday meal. The students said they saw
a dead spider in the food, an official said. The incident occurred in Kamleshwar School in Pernem, 25 km from here. "The children are in hospital and their condition is stable," the education department official said. The incident comes less than two weeks after 23 school children in Bihar's Saran district died after eating contaminated food. On July 19, 20 primary school students were admitted to hospital after some of them fell ill after a mid-day meal at a school in Ponda in eastern Goa. Students of a school in Canacona in south Goa were hospitalised June 23 after eating mid-day meal.
Canoe capsizes, 11 fishermen rescued Panaji: A fishing canoe capsized in the sea at Mobor, with 11 fishermen on board rescued safely. The mishap occurred in the morning when the canoe ventured into the sea, which is currently choppy due to bad weather. There were 11 fishermen on board the motorized canoe which capsized little away from the shore in
South Goa, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohan Naik said. While three fishermen managed to swim ashore, the others kept holding to the net. Indian Coast Guard helicopter, which was pressed into service, brought two fishermen to safety while the others were saved by private lifeguard services which man the beaches.

Luxury goods may cost more as Chidambaram looks to hike duties
NEW DELHI: Finance minister P Chidambaram indicated that the government may increase customs duty on luxury goods as well as those that can be manufactured locally as part of a fresh assault against non-essential imports to rein in the current account deficit (CAD). "There is no specific proposal. We have only done gold. We are looking at some more import compression and at various scenarios on how CAD will play out. We have to look at goods which we can produce and therefore need not import in such large quantities or goods which are clearly non-essential, which some may call luxuries," the minister, who completes a year of his return to the finance ministry, said in an interview. Chidambaram did not elaborate on the products on which duties will be raised, but the move will leave a bigger dent on your pocket.
The government has been grappling with a sharp economic slowdown, rising prices, a weak currency and a downbeat mood in industry. While it has announced measures to revive growth, which slowed to a decade's low of 5%, global economic uncertainty and the sharp swings in the rupee has added to
its headache. The finance minister also blamed US Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke for the rupee's volatility and there were some harsh words for former comptroller and auditor general Vinod Rai as well. But when it comes to a swift economic recovery, Chidambaram said there are no quick fixes. "The world economy is challenged, so is India's economy. We will have to rebuild the economy brick by brick. We have got a pretty good idea of how to fix the fiscal deficit. We are trying to find ways to finance the current account deficit and the most obvious way to address issue of consumer price inflation is to improve the production of goods and services. I think if we do the right things, say even by the text book, we will get the results over a period of time."
Tata Steel eyes UK firm's Indian assets
London: India's largest steel giant, Tata Steel, has set its sights on the Indian iron ore assets of one of Britain's largest independent steel trading companies - Stemcor, according to a media report. The British firm has run into trouble as a result of a global slowdown in the steel industry and is in rescue talks with banks after de-faulting on more than USD 1 billion of loans. The cash crunch has forced the company to offload some of its physical assets, including its iron ore mine in Orissa which could fetch an estimated USD 800 million. According to sources, Tata Steel is keen to grab the iron ore to feed its Indian steel mills. The company, which bought over British steelmaker Corus back in 2007, faces stiff competition for the iron mines from
another Indian rival Jindal Steel and Power. Stemcor has been granted a payment holiday by banks on its unpaid debt until September 16. It presented a recovery plan last week that proposed shrinking the business. The move would slash revenues by about 30 percent. Stemcor is to present a full debt restructuring plan to lenders by the end of August. The company's Indian beneficiation plant takes low grade iron ore fines from various local mines and refines them while the pellet plant, located near local steelmakers, converts lowgrade iron fines into valueadded pellets. Iron ore is a key ingredient to produce steel and India is a main supplier of spot cargoes to China, the world's largest buyer of the metal.

Molesters set 11-year- ATM heist accused arrested in old on fire in Howrah Goa with cash worth Rs 1.16 crore
HOWRAH: Two goons who tried to molest an 11-year-old girl poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze because she said she recognized them and threatened to tell her parents everything. The Class IV girl is fighting for life in hospital with 70% burns. Her alleged tormentors, one of them a local goon called Kundan and the other his friend, are on the run. Police said they had detained Kundan's brother and his friend for interrogation. The girl's father said Kundan had threatened to harm his wife after he had a disagreement with her a few days back. He said the goon had attacked his daughter "in revenge". The residents of Tinkori Nath Bose Lane in Salkia were horrified to see the girl screaming for help, her entire body in flames. They doused the flames and took her to Howrah State General Hospital. She was later shifted to Calcutta Medical College
and Hospital. The girl's father said: "My daughter had gone to relieve herself, when some local youths tried to molest her. There is a chance that they tried to rape her. When she recognized them and said she would go home and tell us everything, they poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze." "A few days back, my wife had a scuffle with Kundan, who is local anti-social. He threatened that he would take revenge. What has happened today is fallout of that," he added. "A girl was brought with 70% burns and we admitted her to Howrah State General but as her condition was very serious, we shifted her to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital. Kundan, the prime accused, and one of his associate are absconding. We have detained his elder brother and his friend. We are interrogating them," said Basudeb Das, the inspector-in-charge of Golabari police station.
Maharashtra Police arrested three men at a Miramar beach hotel near Panaji in connection with an alleged ATM money heist in Ahmadnagar on July 20. The operation was conducted jointly by the Pune-based Lonikand police station and the Panaji police, which nabbed them in a hotel with stolen cash amounting to Rs 1.16 crore. Pramod Ingle, Sandip Kadam and Santosh Sonadkar were arrested by the Maharashtra police, solving an ATM heist that was reported near Wagholi petrol pump near
Ahmadnagar. The cash belonged to State Bank of India and the accused were supposed to load it in an ATM, when they allegedly committed the crime. Panaji police inspector Rajendra Prabhudesai said that Ingle was the driver of the van which had been carrying three containers of cash to be loaded into three different ATMs. The robbery was reported after Ingle drove away with two boxes containing Rs 1.16 crore, while guards accompanying him were in the ATM.

With new app, passport services now on phones
NEW DELHI: Ministry of external affairs launched its ambitious mobile app, MEA India, described by foreign secretary Ranjan Mathai as a one-stop shop. The app will make it possible to apply for passport and avail other services related to the travel document — as also visas and consular assistance anywhere in the world — using your smart phone or other handheld devices.
for the Haj, this one stop-shop will provide you all you need to know," said Mathai, who played the lead role in the development of the app. "Diplomats were earlier encouraged to work in anonymity but the requirements of communication have changed and evolved and so have we in MEA," he added.
"Whether it be information on passport status applied anywhere in India or location of centres which attest documents in India, or pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia
The app is designed and developed by engineers from National Informatics Centre and Silver Touch Technologies and MEA under-
Tiger census shows rise in population
MUMBAI: The number of tigers in Maharashtra are increasing, says the latest census. The numbers are either stable or rising in other states too. But wildlife experts still see red over conservation efforts, which are hampered by rampant poaching and construction of infrastructure projects in forest areas. While the source population has been better protected in most states including Maharashtra since 2006, the offspring dispersing to areas beyond the core sanctuary fall prey to poaching and human development, said experts.
As per the latest data, the average number of tigers in Maharashtra grew from 103 in 2006 to 168 in 2011. Other states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Assam and the Western Ghats region too saw a rise in the tiger population, reveals new surveys conducted by using camera traps. "This is primarily due to some measures taken by the various states. For instance, Maharashtra has declared five new tiger sanctuaries in last three years and brought 620 sq km area under legal
cover. These new sanctuaries are in strategic locations for the breeding and safe dispersal of tigers. No other states have declared so many sanctuaries for the tigers. The government has also relocated over 17 villages from core areas of tiger sanctuaries," said Kishor Rithe, member, national board of wildlife. Rithe, however, points out that these figures are only a mirage as bigger perils still threaten the survival of tigers. According to experts, poaching is a crime more ignored and undetected. Independent estimates show that only 2-3% poaching cases are detected, of which only a miniscule reach the conviction stage. "There is a complete lack of intelligence network to prevent poaching. The poachers are more aware of the movement of tigers and the exact time when they would appear at a specific waterhole than the forest officials," said Nitin Desai of Wildlife Protection Society of India (WPSI). There are very few safe corridors which link reserves in Tadoba, Pench and Mehghat to other
secretary E Vishnu Vardhan Reddy. On an experimental basis, the app will allow ordinary Indians to ask questions about India's foreign policy which will be answered directly by the foreign minister. While the app will also make it possible to apply online for passport on your phone, it can also be used to seek consular help while travelling abroad. "MEA India helps you find the nearest Indian Mission/Post and establish contact with Indian officials there. Consular help is now just a click away," said an official.

How to Make Your Eyes Look Bigger Who doesn’t want bigger, brighter-looking eyes? When it comes to making your eyes pop, we know it takes more than just swiping some shadow across your lid. Above are some tricks that you can do yourself to maximize your eyes! Get the Perfectly Shaped Brow when it comes to working with brows, keeping them well groomed is essential. Brush them upwards, trim them, and make sure that anything underneath them is either waxed or plucked away so you can see the shape of your brows. Make sure your brow arch is directly over your pupil, this way your eye will have more height and look bigger.
Max out Your Lashes with Mascara A lot of people make the mistake of doing just one layer of mascara and calling it quits. Instead, apply a layer of mascara, let it dry, and then add a little more. You can even add a third coat to outer lashes, which will really accentuate your eye shape.
Enhance Your Eye Shape with Eye Shadow Many people think creating the illusion of a bigger eye means piling on a ton of dark, heavy shadows. Apply a shimmery pale eye shadow, like gold or a soft bronze, on the upper lids. The more light
that’s reflected from your eye area, the brighter they’ll look. Next, use a dark, matte brown or grey eye shadow in the crease to create the illusion of more depth. This will open up the eyes but in a more convincing way, because the whole thing isn’t dark; we are playing with dimensions a bit. Another tip is never to use the same color shadow as your eye. Then everything blends together and nothing stands out.
Widen Your Eyes with Eyeliner The mistake people make with eyeliner is that they line their entire eye with one thick line all around. The best way to open up your eyes with eyeliner would be to start from three-quarters of the way in and work your way out, and if you give it a wing tip, that would open up the eye as well. Definitely avoid putting anything dark in your inner corners, which would close up the eye area and make it look smaller.

Bronchitis is a respiratory disorder in which the tubes that carry air to the lungs are inflamed and irritated. This causes the inner lining of these tubes to swell and produce mucus, leading to cough.
Bronchitis (Cont. from last week)
Diagnosis of Bronchitis Timely evaluation of any disease helps significantly in instituting the right kind of treatment. In case of bronchitis, the presenting symptoms and examination findings are usually enough to confirm the diagnosis. However, your physician may advise you some investigations in case deemed necessary: • X-ray chest: This is generally to rule out pneumonia • Sputum examination: Your sputum may have to be examined in a laboratory to look for bacterial infection • Sputum culture • Pulse oximetry: This test enables the physician to see how well your blood has been saturated with oxygen • CT scan may be required in cases of chronic bronchitis to visualize the extent of damage • Pulmonary function tests may be conducted to check the overall functioning of the lungs
Onions • Take plenty of vitamin C and betacarotene rich foods such as amla, guava, mango, papaya, carrots • Minimize your intake of mucus forming foods such as dairy, red meat, white flour, sugar and bananas
Cases of chronic bronchitis require to be evaluated regularly in order to monitor the progress of the condition. Regular checkups can also help the physician to chart the improvement occurring with the medication.
Self Care for Bronchitis Dr. Batra's has the proficiency and experience of treating patients for the last 35 years and we have seen a few things to be very useful for our patients in controlling bronchitis. Incorporation of these can help you to be in better control of your illness and lead a superior quality of life. Help yourself with these tips for dealing with bronchitis: • Increase your intake of essential fatty acids (present in oily fish, flaxseeds, nuts, cold pressed oils) • Increase rich foods such as Garlic and
bronchial irritation • Note the colour of your sputum and report to your doctor from time to time • Your physician may advise you some breathing exercises to improve your lung functions • Contact your health care provider if any of the following symptoms develop: • Severe short of breath • Unexplained wheezing • Coughing up of blood • Very high fever
• Don't smoke – it can only do you harm and prevent you from recovering • Rest as much as possible – this helps your body to heal itself faster • Take plenty of fluids (unless your doctor has advised you to restrict your fluid intake). Fever causes the body to lose fluid faster and hence it’s important to hydrate the body well. The sputum formed will be thinner and can be easily expectorated if the body is well hydrated. • A humidifier can assist in decreasing
At Dr. Batra's, we have treated thousands of patients of bronchitis with Homeopathy and have given good relief and a better quality of life to most of them with our holistic approach. Homeopathy indeed has very good scope in the treatment of both forms of bronchitis. It can offer significant relief from symptoms as well as improve the general well being of the patient. In cases of acute bronchitis, Homeopathy can shorten the duration of the illness and rule out the need for prescribing antibiotics to the patient. There is a marked reduction in the toxicity experienced by the patient when he is on Homeopathic treatment. Chronic bronchitis is a stubborn condition in general but homeopathy has an answer to this condition as well. There are homeopathic remedies that significantly improve symptoms of chronic bronchitis and can even aid the patient in quitting smoking. In addition, the treatment can help to prevent complications such as pneumonia, respiratory failure, right sided heart failure (cor pulmonale), emphysema, etc.

(Architect /Interior Designer) The living room is one place in the house that best showcases a sense of style which everyone is free to see. We accept guests in this room – there and then, these people get to know by looking around this space how much style we have in ourselves. It need not be extravagant or huge, as long as it is able to portray who we really are and what we truly love, it is but enough. So, here are a few things to know before you take the plunge to decorate your living room. 1. It is always advisable to set off with a plan in your mind and a generic outlook of what your living room should be like. It does mean that you should know every head and tail in advance but a general idea will add the icing on the cake. It will help you during the decoration. As behind every successful project, there is a strategy and a plan, same should be applied here. 2. You should do a lot of research work before
deciding on the look of your room. I agree that a lot of confusion will also prevail but you should be able to think and act fast and come to the conclusion as confusion will eat your time and take you nowhere. Also, once decided, you should not regret. So, you should also decide carefully and be firm by sticking to the decision. 3. Lighting plays a significant role in the success of your decoration. It does create a good ambience. It adds to the shine and glitter of the room, also making our moods shine and glitter. It can spur our senses and raise our oxytocin levels which are responsible for emotional joy. Also, scented candles can bring in an additional spark to the room. 4. Choosing the right furniture is as essential as oxygen is for our body. After choosing, placing the furniture in a proper way is also equally important. Mostly, you should not place the furniture lined up against the wall. Your room will be looking smaller by this kind of arrangement. 5. Another thing important is making use of the right curtains. Your efforts may seem like a flash in the pan if the curtains are not proper. Mostly, choose the curtains which match he color of the furniture. So, do not lose it all in the last minute just because of one silly mistake.
Ideas to decorate your living room
6. Adding to the most important things, flooring is also another thing that should be kept in mind. It is essential for furnishing. The coverings of the floor can be tiles, carpet or wood. You should see to it that it should be of a similar color or a darker shade than the walls. 7. There should be proper amount of free space for the functioning of daily activities, or else, the room will appear like a furniture shop. 8. Any cool accessories could add a zing to
your room. You could pick up some pieces from craft shows and flea markets. Mostly, accessories should be artifacts, goodies or some items that you treasure. 9. One could use plants, flora or trees to provide a kind of natural beauty to the atmosphere of the room. It will also fill in the empty spaces. 10. Some interesting paintings can really bring in a wave of deftness to your room. It acts as a style to your room.

DIY FACIALS FOR ALL TYPES OF SKIN Facials are a great way to keep your skin glowing, but they can be pricey. Louisa Macan-Graves, author of Hollywood Beauty Secrets & Elda Argenti, owner of the Plantogen skincare line Lalitha Rego have emerged with some remedies to the rescue, with make-at-home face masks crafted from common household ingredients.
Oil - Cleanse
“Believe it or not, I love to cleanse with oil,” says Argenti. For this facial, she combines 1 Tbsp plain Greek yogurt with 2 tsp olive oil and 1/2 tsp lemon oil (not to be confused with lemon juice; lemon oil is an essential oil that can be found at health food stores). The mixture should be a little bit runny but not easily poured out. Massage it over skin, then immediately wipe it off with a washcloth soaked in tepid water. This can be done daily. “You want to use good-quality oil and you’ll be surprised at how clean your skin will feel,” says Argenti. “You don’t need a harsher product, even for skin with acne. Just be careful around the eye area…[the mixture] tends to be very sticky.”
Lemon Juice & Yogurt Brighten : Cut a slice of ripe papaya and remove the seeds and pulp (save the pulp for a snack later—it’s great for digestion). Rub the inside of the papaya peel on your cleansed face, focusing on lines around the mouth and eyes, crow’s feet, thinning temples, neck and hands. Let it dry for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse with tepid water. This mask can be done twice a week. The enzymes in papaya exfoliate, repair sun damage, diminish age spots and smooth skin. Your skin will look brighter, with a more polished finish.
Exfoliate: Combine 1 tsp honey and 1 tsp olive oil. Separately, prepare a packet of plain oatmeal, using less water than called for so it forms a thick paste. Next, add the honey and olive oil mixture to the cooked oatmeal. Apply as a scrub, gently rubbing it in small circles over your skin, avoiding the eye area. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry. This mask can be done twice weekly. “The oatmeal in this scrub exfoliates, while the honey and olive oil moisturize,” says Argenti.
Fennel & Oatmeal - Moisturize Macan-Graves recommends oatmeal and fennel to help moisturize dry skin. Grind 1 Tbsp oatmeal in a blender and set aside. Add 1 Tbsp fennel seeds to 1/2 cup boiling water to make a tea. Allow the seeds to steep for 10 minutes; strain the seeds and discard. Let it cool down to room temperature and then combine 1 Tbsp of the fennel tea with 1 Tbsp ground oatmeal and 1 Tbsp honey. Apply the mixture to your clean face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with tepid water followed by a cool rinse. This mask can be done twice weekly.
Lift & Tighten: Combine 2 Tbsp plain yogurt with 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice (the juice of one lemon) and apply to your cleansed face and neck. Let it dry for 20 to 30 minutes. You’ll feel the mask tighten on your face and neck, which creates a lifting and firming effect. Leave it on longer (up to one hour) for even more face-lifting effects. Once done, rinse with tepid water followed by a cool rinse. This mask can be done two to three times a week or whenever you need a face lift. “This instant face-lifting mask helps fade age-spots, acne scars and even helps keep blemishes and acne in check. It also gets rid of uneven-looking skin tone,” says Macan-Graves.

DIY FACIALS FOR ALL TYPES OF SKIN
This toning eye treatment helps to “de-puff, relax, refresh and energize your skin,” says Argenti. “It’s much more cooling than the traditional cucumber slices.” After cleansing your skin, brew a cup of chamomile or green tea and allow it to cool. Then soak two clean, round makeup sponges in the tea and squeeze out any excess liquid. Place one on each of your eyes for 15 minutes. Do this daily. “You need to use an alcohol-free toner on your skin to cleanse and tighten pores. Alcohol is very detrimental, and tea works just as well,” adds Argenti.
Green Tea - Tone
Sour Cream, Honey & Apple Cider Vinegar - Brighten Combine 2 Tbsp sour cream with 2 Tbsp honey and 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice. Apply to your cleansed face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with tepid water followed by a cool (not cold) rinse. This mask can be done twice a week. “This mask heals, exfoliates, brightens and moisturizes skin. It refines pores, fades acne marks and prevents blemishes from coming up,” says MacanGraves.
Combine 2 Tbsp honey with 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice. Apply to your clean face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with tepid water followed by a cool rinse. This can be done three times a week. “This mask heals, moisturizes and balances the pH of the skin,” says MacanGraves. “Honey is a humectant and natural antibiotic that heals and moisturizes. Apple cider vinegar helps balance the pH of skin and soothes damaged skin.”

In a shaker, add Absolute Citron (or any citrus flavoured vodka), simple syrup, a splash of club soda and ice. Stir or VERY gently shake. Remember...... this has club soda in it so do not shake it very hard. Strain and pour into glass with mint and lemon. Finally garnish with a fresh sprig of mint (serve it martini glass). • 500 g potatoes, such as desire, peeled and cut into chunks • 2 tablespoons low-fat ricotta cheese • 125 g peeled prawns, thawed if frozen, roughly chopped • 170 g can white crabmeat, well drained • 2 spring onions, chopped • a few shakes of Tabasco, or to taste • 125 g English spinach • 4 large tomatoes • 1 lemon, cut into four wedges • BREADCRUMB COATING • ¼ cup (30 g) wholemeal flour • 1 egg, beaten
• ⅔ cup (75 g) dried wholemeal breadcrumbs • 1 teaspoon dried thyme or oregano • 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil, warmed
1. Cook the potatoes in a saucepan of boiling water for 12–15 minutes until tender. Drain and return to the pan over the heat to dry out a little, then mash until smooth. Beat in the ricotta. Season and set aside to cool completely. 2. Pat the prawns dry with paper towel, then chop roughly. Mix with the crab, chopped spring onions and Tabasco. 3. Put the spinach in a covered bowl with just the rinsing water clinging to the leaves. Cook in the microwave until just wilted. Then squeeze it dry and chop roughly. Mix the potato with the seafood and spinach.

Season and sprinkle with any leftover crumbs. Brush the fishcakes with the warmed oil, then bake for 20 minutes until they are crisp and the tomatoes soft. Allow to stand for 3–4 minutes before serving. Serve with lemon wedges.

really thin ones if you don't want them in the dish. But it will sure add some flavor at least. To snap the claws you need to hold the crab with one hand and twist and pull the claws with the other. After your crabs are done you need to put them on the fire with enough water to just cover them, boil for 15
minutes. While that is getting done, work on the masala, crush the pods of garlic, chop the onions and keep them aside. Grate one coconut and add the garlic to it. Add a teaspoon of the Xacuti masala to the coconut, remember if you are making your own masala following the other
recipe, you will use only half a coconut here as there would be half in the masala, also you would need to add more masala than a teaspoon around 1/4th of the masala and no garlic. If you want the authentic colour, use less coconut with the chicken xacuti recipe. In the mean time sauté the onions, garlic and curry leaves, add some of the masala to the sauté and fry it. By this time, your crabs should have boiled and hopefully cooled down for you to begin splitting them open. Split the crabs by pulling on the top and lower halves, you can clean out the meat and throw out some of the shells if you like. Keep the eggs and other edibles in some part of the boiled crab water that you can use to cook. Add the crabs to the sauté. Add the xacuti masala, to the dish and let it come to a boil with occasional stirring.Add the water that you kept aside with the eggs and edibles. Bring the dish to a boil and let it simmer for a few minutes. Serve hot delicious crab xacuti..

The Usgalimal rock carvings are now one of the most important prehistoric sites in western India as they are thought to date between 20 and 30 thousand years ago from the Upper Paleolithic or Mesolithic eras. The mysterious rock carvings of Usgalimal were discovered in 1993 by the villagers of Usgalimal, which is situated at about 16 kms south of Rivona in the Sanguem taluka in south Goa.The villagers informed the archaeologists about the traces of pre historic settlement who were led outside the village to a bend in the river Kushawati. Here they saw a shelf of laterite, which due to the monsoon floods was covered in a layer of mud that was swept downstream. Once they cleared this it was seen that the rock had carvings of around one hundred distinct figures, which included images of
Usgalimal rock carvings‌ gone unnoticed by Goans
bulls, spirals, lines and human figures. Now a day’s one can easily get to the carvings at Usgalimal as a board has been erected by the ASI along the roadside for advertisement. This makes it easier to get there as the site is hidden behind an old iron mine and it is also situated quite far away from the coast. The engravings are situated on the bed of the river Kushavati, beyond old iron ore mines, outside Usagalimal village, accessible via a winding pathway. It is about one km down from the main road between Rivona to Neturlim, and about 16 km south of Rivona in the Sanguem taluka in South Goa district The rock art is full of carvings depicting symbols of religious cult, cosmology, animals like bison, bull, deer, dog, peacock etc. Along with animals, there are a number of human figures too, the most prominent being that of a dancing woman. The best preserved and most striking of all the carvings though are the shapes known as triskelions- circular mazes of seven concentric furrows, around 15cms wide and 2-3 cms deep, centered on what would
be symbolically rendered cobra heads. These mazes could possibly be used to measure time; beyond the carvings are a small reservoir and a metre wide canal which has been excavated to channel and collect excess water during the monsoon and to avoid it from flowing onto the
carvings. A visit here is recommended for those interested in pre historic archaeology and carvings. Most probably, the engravings were carved using specially prepared using sharp pointed stone tools. Today Usgalimal is a famous place among the European tourists who visit Goa. To Indian tourists, other than the localities this place is rather unknown. So this weekend celebrate friendship day with your friends by planning an adventurous hike to this heritage site as you will have the most amazing day and weather as monsoons are perfect for hiking and trekking.

WORLDS TOP 10 BEACHES Of course I know it!
Yes it is quite an arguable point if this ranking has been done with my own presumptions!
A recent survey done Vernon Rego on the internet had frequent well versed travelers from across the globe vote for the world’s top ten beaches and this was their verdict after thorough investigation. They examined the evidence then finally tipped the sand from their shoes and washed the brine from our eyes and put together a guide to the best beaches on the planet. Consider this list a premise, a platform from which you can jump into a dazzling, turquoise ocean of "further recommendations."
10. Palaui Island, Cagayan Valley, Philippines Glorious white sands meet volcanic rocks and blue-green waters topside, while coral gardens and a rich marine reserve meet divers under the surface. Palaui is all about raw beauty. Treks to get there require
battling thorny grass, muddy ground and a mangrove forest. Good to know: With no resorts or hotels, Palaui has only two real options: camping under the stars or home stays.
9. Champagne Beach, Vanuatu
The South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu broke into the headlines a few years ago when the Happy Planet Index ranked it the happiest nation on Earth. With beaches like this, how could locals not be euphoric? Highlight: The beach gets its name from a phenomenon witnessed by the first travelers to the region -- the shallow waters appear to fizz at low tide, as if the beach is swimming in bubbly. The effect is caused by gas escaping from volcanic rocks on the seafloor.
7. Wineglass Bay, Tasmania
White sands, pink granite rock formations and green peaks make for one of Tasmania's most stunning coastal scenes. It's part of Freycinet National Park, northeast of Hobart. Highlights: Hiking, snorkeling, kayaking and boating are popular pastimes, but so is lying on the beach admiring the scenery.
8. Matira Beach, Bora Bora, Tahiti
Bora Bora is like the Gwyneth Paltrow of beaches: a little too perfect to be believable. But the spell that this small island in French Polynesia has cast on probably every traveler ever to dip a toe into its soft sands or calm waters has yet to be broken. Bora Bora is a An inappropriate name does nothing to spoil the flawless aesthetics of this lengthy strip of sand. The chair, umbrella, bracelet and Jet Ski touts might be a challenge to your good mood, but if you walk eastward away from the busy section you'll be able to take in one of the world's best beaches uninterrupted. Worth knowing: There are strong undercurrents in the waters offshore.
heavy tourist destination -- luxury resorts and budget bungalows dapple the white sand perimeter. But its best spot, Matira Beach, reminds you why places like this become popular in the first place. Highlight: Visitors can feed sharks, hunt for black pearls, look through World War II memorabilia or just laze on the sand.
6. Cabbage Beach, Paradise Island, Bahamas
Friday, 2nd August, 2013
WORLDS TOP 10 BEACHES This ribbon of sand on the Seychelles' third-largest island, La Dique, mixes salt-white and flamingo-pink sands to create one of the most photographed beaches in the world. A reef keeps the water calm for good snorkeling.
5. Anse de Grande Saline, Though nudity is technically banned on St. St. Barths Barths, this is one of two beaches on the French
Highlight : Nearby restaurant Lanbousir offers local Creole dishes, including a tempting fruit-bat curry. DIY eaters can fix their own picnic with food from a supermarket just five minutes from the beach.
4. Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue, Seychelles
Leeward Island that attracts naturists (perhaps due to its distance from developed areas). It can get windy and there's little shade, but the photo ops are magnificent. Highlight : A marsh area behind the beach is a habitat for tropical birds.
2. Rabbit Beach, Lampedusa, Italy With blinding white cliffs, fluorescent blue waters, warm temperatures and dry-desert land, it's little wonder this place frequently tops favorite beach lists. Protected turtles lay eggs
here and dolphins can be seen in the water. Highlight: The nearby volcanic isle of Linosa, featuring a spectacular black and red Mars-like beach.
3. Grace Bay, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands
You need only hear the name of this beach to feel a little calmer. The pride of Provo Island is tourist heavy, but that's because it's one of the best (third best, we say) beaches in the world. Just offshore, a coral reef protects the beach and harbors marine life normally seen in Jacques Cousteau documentaries. Highlight : This perfect, tranquil beach destination has few touts to disturb your lazing and abundant restaurants and resorts.
1. Grande Anse Beach, La Digue Island, Seychelles Secluded and easy to skip because it takes some effort to get here, Grand Anse on La Digue is the archetypal beach, the benchmark against which others must be judged. It's a must, especially if you're a surfer. Worth knowing: The waves can be boisterous and there's not much shade. With this insight I can pretty well guess you could have your next summer vacation well in advance.

Happy Friendship Day!!!
Have you ever wondered life without friends? Don’t you think the thought itself is scary? FRIENDS a seven letter word but their importance cannot be defined. They fit in every important role in your life they scold you like fathers, guide you like mothers, tease you like sisters and take care of you like brothers. They are part of every small and big moments in your life they also add colour into your life. So, to express your appreciation and celebrate the joy of being friend, Friendship Day is just the perfect occasion on first Sunday of every August. The day has been celebrated in several southern South American countries for many years, particularly in Paraguay, where the first World Friendship Day was proposed in 1958. Friendship Day is all about celebrating the bond of friendship with friends. It is an occasion to remember wonderful moments that you have spent with your pals in the school, college or workplace. Friends they stand aside you at times when you feel lonely and seek support from bad times. Friends cheer you up when you are depressed or sorrowful. No matter how much drama they create, life is incomplete without them. They motivate you when you’re ready to give up. They provide support when life falls apart. When you want to have a good time, act silly, laugh and share life’s pleasant and memorable moments, you can share all this with a friend. It is a relation that never
grows old but strengthens with time. Friend’s are like shadows they are with you for all the crazy things you do and continue to do in life whether it’s your first break up party, your first class bunking, your first car or bike crash. They are ready to stand with you no matter what you do. Friends are like banks you can take loan from them without paying any interests. No matter how good the friendship is fights are bound to happen.
Today remembering those fights now make you laugh for acting so crazy and stupid with your friends. A true friend creates memories with you to laugh about and strengthen the bond. Friends simply accept you they way you are. Some stories are not easily forgotten specially when you get drunk for the first time in your life with your friends. Those drunk confessions and then feeling embarrassed in the morning for telling your friends that you still love your ex or
that you hated one of them at one point of time and how much you love them now. Friends are not judgemental they listen to you regardless what time of the day it is. After all, they add spice to your sweet and boring life. Friends teach you many things in life and one of the most important things is sharing, whether it’s a piece of cake or pizza with bunch of friends having a million dollar smile on each ones face. Today the day is celebrated by sending fancy gifts, greeting cards and short SMS to your friends to express your love and affection to them. But sadly as the days gets busy people are losing touch with their friends. I am sure life without friends would have been boring and monotonous. Friendship like any relationship is worth having, so take efforts to find balance between your friends and everything else going on in your life. So guys, celebrate this Friendship Day and have great fun with your friends. It is rightly said that good friends know all your best stories, but best friends live them with you. They are always there, in good times or bad. Take a few moments this friendship day to thank them, surprise them and make them feel special. Their unconditional love and support makes this bond of friendship everlasting.

Canon EOS 700D review Canon EOS 700D is the 'flagship' device in company's entry-level consumer DSLR range. Canon has included some creative features as well as a very responsive capacitive touch screen to make sure this camera appeals to first time users as well as those looking for an upgrade. Bundled with the camera are the 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 stock lenses.
In the box
• Canon EOS 700D body • LP-E8 rechargeable battery • AC adapter kit ACK-E8 • Manual • Warranty card • USB cable • Hand strap • 512MB SD Card • Software CD • Canon EF 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 lenses
Build/ Design The first thing you notice about the 700D is its petite frame, slightly smaller than the previous generations and much lighter when it comes to weight of the body alone. Canon EOS 700D is one of the lightest DSLR cameras that slightly smaller than most entry-level DSLR cameras, and lighter, at just 580 grams for the body with the battery and a SD Card inside. The bundled kit lens adds another 200 grams to this, making it pretty light to carry around on a holiday or a trek. The body is made of stainless steel covered in polycarbonate resin and glass fibre making it durable to take on the challenges of day to day photography. The controls are well placed and easily accessible, and the 180 degree tilt touch screen is bright, responsive and full of detail. The card slot is on the side and not at the bottom. This means you easily swap out the card when you have the camera mounted on a tripod. The bottom part of the camera has just the battery slot and tripod mount, while
the front of the camera has no buttons or controls. On the top side of the Canon EOS 700D, over the grip, you have the shutter button, the Aperture and Shutter control dial, ISO Button, a Mode Dial, and three-position toggle on-off switch, that switches off power, switches it on and moves to the video mode. Also on the top, next to the hot shoe are the built-in stereo microphones, and the pop-up flash. On the back are your usual buttons, including a D-Pad that lets you choose between whitebalance, multiple shots and AF Mode. A big advantage with the camera is that all the settings are clearly visible on the big 3-inch vari-angle touch screen LCD, so if you don't know how to move around using the buttons, you can always touch the screen to get to the setting you are looking for. There is also a dedicated button that shuts off the LCD and switches to the viewfinder. What is nice to see is that though all functions and settings of the camera can be accessed via the touchscreen, Canon has still included the buttons that let you scroll through the settings, which come in particularly handy if you are an experienced Canon user who's used to things being a certain way.
Features / Performance The Camera can shoot JPEG and RAW Images, and also save both of them, though remember that if you choose to save images as RAW (or indeed both). On the Mode Dial, you choose between Av (Aperture Priority), Tv (Shutter Priority), M (Full Manual), Portrait (P), SCN (Scene), High Speed Sports, Macro, Landscape, Portrait, Full Auto (A+), CA and a No Flash Mode with Full Auto where flash does not fire. It was also good to note that the lens Canon is now including in the kit is image-stabilised and is the new avatar of its entry-level lens, giving you a good control on image
stability both in video and still mode. There is no built-in GPS but the camera can take an optional GPS-E2 unit if you need GPS functionality. The Canon EOS 700D does not charge via USB so you need to take the battery out and use the supplied charger. The battery lasts you anywhere between 400 and 440 shots, so if you are a light use photographer out for a holiday over a weekend, you can probably leave the charger behind, but in most cases you will need to carry it along with you.
Focus System The Canon EOS 700D features a smart phone like interface, that lets you touch the screen to indicate the area you want to focus on while taking pictures and videos, which gives you more control than the traditional autofocus points. The camera, though an upgrade on its predecessors, the Canon 600D and Canon 650D, does not seem to have an in-body improvement on the focussing system, but the bundled 18-55 kit lens from Canon now has a stepper motor that does a much faster autofocus, which makes the 700D seem faster than the earlier generation cameras. The sensor on the 700D has 9 cross-type AF points. The focus points are superimposed both on the LCD when using live view mode and on the view finder when shooting. You can switch to manual focus by toggling the switch on the lens.
Battery Life The battery on the Canon EOS 700D is rated at 400 shots and my testing gave similar results. The LP-E8 is the same battery that shipped in the previous generations, hence getting a spare battery is not an expensive affair in case you propose to shoot a lot of pictures.

Amanda Bynes' parents, Rick and Lynn, have revealed that prior to moving to New York, their daughter was extremely paranoid about being 'watched,' even at their residence. In court papers released, they wrote that the former 'Disney' star would cover smoke alarms with towels; tape windows shut, and cover her car's dashboard with cardboard and tape out of fear that cameras were watching her from inside these places. It seems that the parents are concerned about the behaviour of the 27-year-old, who is now under a 14-day psychiatric hold at a hospital just outside L.A. In the documents filed with the Ventura County, Calif., Superior Court, the Bynes Nargis Fakhri will soon be seen in Madras Cafe and family outlined their daughter's disturbing behaviour this time she will be saying her dialogues in her own beyond her multiple voice for the film. Fakhri was born in New York to a Pakistani father Mohammed A. Fakhri and a Czech mother Marie A. The director of the movie has tried to portray her character natural in Madras Cafe.
