Respect Manifesto

A BRITAIN FAIR FOR ALL

A BRITAIN FAIR FOR ALL Foreword

There was a time when Britain was known as a nation in which peace, justice and equality were the big words of the day. A time when people were put before profit, and everyone payed their fair share to society. A time when people spoke about global co-operation and antidiscrimination instead of wars and massacres. This is not the Britain we have today. During the past decade we have had two governments: A Labour one and a Conservative one. We have seen Britain participating in war against the Middle East, massive cuts in welfare, the wallets of the already rich growing even bigger and fatter, and we have even seen continued discrimination against minority religions and cultures. All of these incidents are strictly against everything we believe in Respect. We have seen Britain hitting recession, an expenses scandal occur and jobs being slashed. We have seen MPs commit fraud, weakening our democracy for their own benefit. Under Respect, this would not have happened. Respect is committed to get Britain back on the track of an innovative nation when it comes to civil rights, global partnership, social security, anti-discrimination and solidarity. But we are also going to graft very hard for a renewed and strong Britain with green energy as a primary consideration, focus on battling unemployment, a stronger democracy and a strong, international voice. All of these things can only be achieved if you vote Respect, and in this manifesto, we will explain why.

OUT OF RECESSION Jobs and growth

Britain’s economy is in a perilous state. The past years under conservative rule have seen Britain hitting recession not once, but twice. Jobs have been lost in thousands, and unemployment has never been higher. In Respect, we do not believe that the way forward is one of cutting and keeping what we have - in Respect we believe that we have to invest us out of the crisis, get our economy back up and running. We believe that we need to stimulate our economy instead of relying on foreign bankers to do so. Therefore, we have many exciting plans to make this a reality in Britain.
