Dear CroYdonites, With Spring in the air and dam levels at 82%, it looks like a great Summer is on our doorstep! The Vineyards are out the starting blocks early this year, and residents will soon experience the beautiful views across the lush green vineyards of the Estate. Our team at Croydon Wine Company is expanding their footprint and Croydon Vineyard wines are now available to the public online at www.croydonvineyardestate.com at cellar door prices. The Integrated Landscaping Plan, now in its third year, will focus on the berm along the R102 and completing the Aquarius Lane planting. The devastating effect of the drought resulted in many plants dying on the berm and coupled with the increase in traffic has raised the noise level along the northern boundary of the Estate. Re-establishing the berm vegetation is essential in creating a noise barrier.

It is with sadness that we’ll be saying goodbye to one of our colleagues. Cecile Bridgens will be leaving the HOA at the end of September to take up a position at Eikendal. Cecile has been instrumental in the success of the effective management of the financials of the HOA and WineCo. We wish Cecile all the best with her career and thank her for her contribution to the Estate. Kind regards,

Tobie Esterhuyzen Estate Manager

A very big THANK YOU to one of our residents, Jacques van Rensburg, who donated good quality suits, shoes, caps, pants etc. to our Landscaping staff. It was very much appreciated! Thursday 18th July marked a legacy in the calendar: MANDELA DAY and 67 minutes of kindness! The CroYdon office ladies decided that a good place to start was in their own backyard and provided the Landscaping and Security staff with hotdogs for lunch! Venesia and Cillie who are a part of our office team kindly prepared the hotdogs in participation.

SHARING & CARING CONT. Mandela loved children, and this inspired our visit to CroYdon Kindergarten School to spoil the children with party packs. What perfect timing as they woke up from their afternoon nap – the absolute delight on their cute little faces was all the reward needed!

The Estates Magazine The Estates magazine came about after Estate Press (aka FabMags) had been producing and publishing Estate magazines for various national Estates for 9 years. It was time to create a magazine for all Estates and complexes that allowed them to gain an insight into Estate living and also to celebrate community based living. The magazine is focused on people living in gated Estates and complexes. 10,000 copies are printed and distributed.

As part of a stable of 14+ magazines, The Estates magazine offers its advertising clients a tangible connection with the hard to reach residents in high profile Estates, both in print and online. Moving forward, the magazine has a clear path of where it wants to get to, and that is a deeper, more connected relationship with the people and businesses vested in Estate and community living. Croydon is the featured Estate in the 19th Edition of The Estates Magazine! The article can be seen on page 14 – 17. CLICK HERE to see the full publication. 13

Family Dinners

The last two family dinners have taken a twist, with homeowners volunteering and putting on their chef hats.

WineCo Quiz Evening

This exciting event was hosted on 9th July with a number of teams participating. Various categories were covered, however the one I’m sure everyone learnt the most about was CroYdon Vineyards. There is unfortunately always only one winner (in this case one team) who won a box of CroYdon wine! One would be inclined to think that there was an unfair advantage to the winning team, however we will give them the benefit of the doubt as the focus was on a fun, entertaining evening which it most certainly was!

On 24th July, Petra Wium provided an Italian inspired meal of Spaghetti Bolognaise and Cappuccino Coffee Cake for dessert. Croydon Kindergarten School also benefitted and received a large bowl of the leftover Spaghetti Bolognaise which provided a hot lunch for the kids. On 28th August, Stef Nagel catered with a hearty Hungarian Goulash and Lemon Cake with Custard for dessert. Due to a number of WineCo events, the next family dinner will take place on 2nd October with Hilda Heymans, Lanie van Schalkwyk and Anel Jordaan catering, so watch this space …. The family dinners are a way of actively socialising with and getting to know your fellow residents while involving yourself in community living. Any residents who would like an opportunity to show off their cooking skills and participate in the family dinners, are encouraged to please email Nicole on the following email address: lifestyle@croydon-estate.co.za Ticket prices are determined to cover costs of the ingredients and the “chef’s” are reimbursed accordingly.

Women’s Day at CroYdon was celebrated this year with a Sip & Paint event which was hosted in collaboration with Call 2 Care. “Call 2 Care is a Non-Profit Organisation located in Cape Town that improves lives through educational outreach projects and events while offering a sustainable end to end service to corporates, government, and the general public. Call 2 Care offers professional corporate outreach projects and events that deliver sustainable results. Their key services include corporate volunteering, CSR projects and team build events, engaging experiences with a social impact element, brand and product activations within communities, community outreach experiences, CSR advisory & beneficiary matching and CSI at a beneficiary in need.” Since women are synonymous with multitasking … painting and sipping CroYdon MCC was effortless …. well the sipping part was! A lovely lunch was included and prepared by Venesia which the ladies thoroughly enjoyed!
