Wempen, 50 years CLEAR LAKE — Richard and Rita Wempen of Clear Lake will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 14. They were married at Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy, Minnesota, on June 14, 1964. The couple’s children and spouses are Michael (Julie) Wempen, David (Molly) Wempen, Sara (Jason) Jones. They also have eight grandchildren, Luke, Oppermann, 65 years Matthew, Jacob, Kain Wempen, Katie and Harold and Dorothy Oppermann celebrated their Sophie Wempen 65th wedding anniversary on June 4. AWARD & ACHIEVEMENT Students recognized at St. Olaf College Honors Day NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Amber Wood, of Charles City, Lydia Feldman, of Clear Lake, and Michael Betz, of Mason City, were among more than 1,000 St. Olaf College students recognized for academic achievement, at the college’s annual Honors Day convocation. Wood is a social work major and Betz is a theory/ composition major. Feldman is a nursing major and was awarded membership in Sigma Theta Tau. Honors Day recognizes students who have
a cumulative grade point average of 3.60 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The convocation also recognizes students awarded scholarships and fellowships, and senior members of leadership and academic honor societies.
