BIRTHDAY My Grandpa Finally Retired! ROCK FALLS — Cliff Weatherwax of 103 N. Cerro Gordo St., Rock Falls, will celebrate his retirement with a trip to Hawaii with his wife, Linda, this fall. Cliff was an electrician for close to 47 years, most of which he worked for Determan Electric. Cliff and Linda’s children are: Tracie (Steve) Siemers and Lisa (Adam) Brock. They have one grandson, Sebastian.
Ruth Umbarger, 90 MASON CITY — Ruth Umbarger, of Mason City, will celebrate her 90th birthday at an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at the East first floor dining room at Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City. AWARD & ACHIEVEMENT Mike Brock Retires as University of Custodian at MCHS Northwestern-St. MASON CITY — Mike Paul Dean’s List Brock of 1025 First St. N.E., Mason City, Iowa, celebrated his retirement with a family fishing trip last weekend in Cable, Wisconsin. Mike was a custodian at Mason City High School. Mike is married to Deb Brock. Their children are Chris and Diane Brock of Humboldt, Iowa, Jeremy and Tracey Brock of Overland Park, Kan., and Adam and Lisa Brock of Mason City, Iowa. They have seven grandchildren.

BIRTH Sawyer Landon Adams MASON CITY — Paul and Emily (Weaver) Adams, of Mason City, are the parents of a son, Sawyer Landon Adams, born at 12:12 a.m. May 31, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa. He weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 20.5 inches long. Sawyer is welcomed by big brother, Gregor; grandparents, Ed and Karen Ries, of Mason City, and Mike and Sue Adams, of Rockwell; great-grandparents, Bill and Virginia Ames, of Rockwell, and Doris Drury of Mason City.
AWARD & ACHIEVEMENT Muench named to Concordia University Dean’s List ST. PAUL, Minn. — Shannon Muench, of Forest City, was named to the Dean’s List at Concordia University, for the 2014 spring semester. To qualify students must have a 3.5 or higher grade point average.
