Henry and Donna Rayhons, and the late Marvalyn Rayhons of Garner, and John and Karen Monson of Forest City. In honor of her memory, Kelly wore a necklace that had belonged to Dale’s mother, Marvalyn. Jake Schneider and Isaac Schneider, sons of the bride, escorted her to the altar. Kelly’s attendants were Roxanne Johnson, friend of the couple, and her sisters, Kris Monson and Kim Oulman. Dale’s attendants were Lonny Smith, friend of the couple, and his sons, Brian Rayhons and Chris Rayhons. The groom, a graduate of Garner High School, is a paramedic with the Forest City Ambulance Service. The bride is a Forest City High School and Kirkwood College graduate and is employed by Forest Plaza Assisted Living. The couple is at home in Forest City.

AWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS DeMaris awarded the Mildred Wolf Scholarship through the Matinee Musicale Club MASON CITY — Chad DeMaris, son of Michael and Marci DeMaris and Anne DeMaris, of Mason City, is the recipient of the Mildred Wolf Scholarship, presented through the Matinee Musicale Club. DeMaris attended Mason City Community Schools and graduated in 2008. His high school music achievements and honors include: ICDA Outstanding Senior Award and the Maestro Award at the Heritage Festival in Chicago. He received Division I ratings at the Iowa High

School Music Association solo contest all four years of high school. DeMaris was a member of the Concert Choir, Mohawk Chorale, Madrigal Choir and Chamber Choir. While at Simpson College he was selected a member of the Opera Camerata for outstanding performances in several roles. DeMaris performed as tenor soloist in Mozart’s Litaniae Laurentane and Handel’s Messiah. He graduated from Simpson College and will be attending the University of Mis-

souri, Kansas City, in the fall of 2012, to pursue a Master’s Degree in vocal performance. The Mildred Wolf Scholarship is given to a student majoring in music who demonstrates outstanding musicianship, ability, talent, and achievement. Mrs. Wolf was a longtime member of the Matinee Musicale Club and was especially interested in encouraging young musicians. Her family established the scholarship fund as a memorial to her.

Graduating high school seniors who plan to enroll as full-time students in agriculture-related majors, are eligible for the Viafield Ag Youth Scholarships which are worth $1,000. Luther College Leadership Award DECORAH — Mackenzie Pierson, of Mason City, received a Luther College Student Leadership Award, at a banquet held May 6. During the banquet, certificates were presented to students who completed the Leadership Certificate program. Pierson helped organize the 16th annual All-Sports Second Grade Mini Clinic which brought in approximately 120 second graders from the Decorah community to experience a variety of Luther College sports. Students who work toward a Leadership Certificate, complete and document learning in four areas: organizational leadership, service to others, leadership skill building and education, and personal development.
