Use Stress to Your Advantage When facing competitive situations, women in particular, often feel they a great deal of stress. Stress refers to the release of a hormone, adrenalin in the body which helps to boost performance. Some women are able to use stress to their advantage and in a positive way however there are some women who use it negatively, sometimes even turning it on themselves. Stress can be used to your advantage by setting deadlines for your work. When you have a deadline, the stress can be used positively and the results achieved can be better. If you stay focused on one task at a time, work is one of the areas in which stress can be used positively. Every woman has relationships to deal with - be it at home between family members or a certain loved one. Accepting everyone has different agenda’s using stress to fine tune clarity can be helpful in these situations. You can use your stress and get through the issues which are coming in your way and preventing you from performing your best, if you stay positive. This applies to women in particular as it is often the woman who takes care of relationships, home, family and also work. Women aim to make them all succeed and last. A situation which everyone experiences in their daily life is to suffer the dreaded traffic jam. There is of course, a certain degree of stress involved in the situation but why not use the stressful situation to your advantage? You could listen to music & just relax or perhaps use the time to learn something new. If there is a traffic jam, there is nothing you can do apart from waiting for it to sort out, so why not enjoy your time? A misconception which many people have today is that stress is bad. All stress is not bad; in fact sometimes it can be healthy for the body. Even research has shown that when the body goes through a certain amount of stress, it can be beneficial. Stress can be managed and it should not be taken as something negative. Many women tend to have a lot of stress during the day. With work at the office and other responsibilities at home, there is no doubt a woman has to deal with a lot of stress. Don’t turn the stress inward towards yourself – by overeating or drinking too much alcohol. Instead of looking at stress negatively, think about the good things about it. It keeps you moving towards your deadline for one thing. Try to relax and believe that whatever you are going through is for the benefit of yourself and/or your family. When we undergo a stressful event, we tend to remember it clearly. The best part of this is that we can then learn from our mistakes, come out of the situation more positive and having had the experience. The best thing to do with stressful situations is to look at them with a positive mind and instead of looking at the glass as being half empty, think of it as half full! Stress is something which people fear to deal with. When managed correctly (exercise helps), it is not something as bad as people imagine it to be. Women are strong people and can handle every situation as well as a man and in fact, women have shown they can handle stress as well as any man!
