Review of the Sunday Club at Encore

Sunday Club at Encore has been running for a while now and if their Facebook page is anything to go by it’s a popular event. The page currently has 1,538 mem bers . So, we thought we’d go and have a look for ours elves to s ee what had led to s uch high intere s t. Turning up on Sunday 27 October with the very reasonab le £1 entry fee in hand we soon found out what people are raving about! Presented by Carl Gac, the opening DJ of the night and hosted by Bash, there were two live acts during the evening – J ohnny Lavin and The Youthful Two. J ohnny kicked off the night playing acoustic 16 | GLANFORD VILLAGER NOVEMBER 2013

guitar and playing a mix of covers and some original material – the latter obvious ly going do wn very well with his own fans. The Youthful Two, a doub le act of guitarist and sing er played individually and a set which was a mix of chart hits and older tunes which the audience lapped up. A very enjoyable evening which culminated in Carl Gac playing some great mixes late into the night . Encore’s Sunday Club features different acts each and every Sunda y, so why not go and have a look?

Winter will be upon us s oon and it could be a rough one this year s o we are pas s ing on s ome pointers from the A.A. on how to prepare for driving in bad weather. Before you go • Get up at leas t 10 minutes early to give you time to prepare the car. • Don’t drive off like a tank- commander, with a tiny hole cleared in the winds creen. Clear all windows us ing a s craper and de-icer. • Us e a cigarette lighter to warm a key or a frozen lock. Don’t breathe on the lock, as the mois ture will condens e and freeze. • Plan routes to favour major roads which are more likely to have been cleared and gritte d. • Put s afety before punctuality when the bad weather clos es in. Allow extra time for winter journeys but be prepared for

20 | GLANFORD VILLAGER NOVEMBER 2013

the inevitability of being late for work due to unexpected delay. Driving in s now and ice Gentle manoeuvres are the key to s afe driving - s topping dis tances are 10 times longer in ice and s now. Wear comfortable, dry s hoes for driving. Cumbers ome, s now- covered boots will s lip on the pedals . Pull away in s econd gear, eas ing your foot off the clutch gently to avoid whee l-s pin. Horosc opes

Your fortune for November 2013 Aries - (Mar 21 - Apr 19) This month there would be a mixture of s omething s weet and s omething bitter in your life. You’re aware now of s omething that could caus e dis comfort but are ignoring a likely way alleviating it. Take advantage of help that is being provided for the time being. The month brings favourable res ults in your s tudy area. Health needs to be tackled with caution and beware of s kin ailments that might haunt you for quite s ometime during the cours e of this month.

Taurus - (Apr 20 - May 20) You would not be able to get s econd chances to make firs t impres s ions during the month ahead. As quick as people are to make ins tant as s es s ments of you, you ought to tread carefully in this time period. It’s likely you’re being watched or monitored by a pers on or organization you’re keen to impres s . Trus t that, where you might believe you didn’t meet certain expectations the firs t time, an opportunity to s et the record s traight and impres s them will pres ent its elf. Some luxury items would be purchas ed for the hous e for this month. But it would burn a big hole in your pocket!!

Gemini - (May 21 - June 21) The s ky s peaks clearly about s ens ible and productive allocation of your very valuable time for the month ahead. Your lis t of duties and obligations has increas ed lately and is likely to increas e for a little while longer till around the end of the month. An out-of-theblue development would probably help your s pirits to s oar high up in the air. Trus t that, des pite your waking hours being accounted for, there are s everal people who want to lend a hand. Be willing to accept whatever help is offered now for this month.

Cancer - (Jun 22 - July22) You can probably eas ily identify a repetitive and tedious s ituation that you know, in your heart of hearts , is going to continue repeating its elf unles s you take initiative to change it. An eas y option involves leaving it as it is and accepting what comfort is available through predictability. A more interes ting but challenging option involves s wallowing pride and taking a brave s tep to ring a change or two. It’s the latter option that might be proving to be irresis tible for no w.

Leo - (July 23 - Aug 22) Leos pos s es s unique leaders hip qualities . You can, with little effort, receive s upport and admiration from others during the cours e of the month. This pres ents you with the need to recognize the influence you can have and you’re being looked toward now for leaders hip and ans wers . At leas t one pers on believes you can provide both in a particular area. If you’re willing to accept the challenge, then you will benefit pers onally in s everal ways through doing so.

Virgo - (Aug 23 - Sep 22) You res erve the right to change your mind when it comes to matters clos e to your heart. You have to accept that you are being led to believe that you are entitled to recognize how your needs change and what you believed to be s uitable or appropriate is s ometim es no longer s o. It als o works the other way around. You have the right to purs ue a plan of action you probably vowed you’d never purs ue. That was then, this is now. By doing s o, you are s ing your mos t important need. 28 addres | GLANFORD VILLAGER NOVEMBER 2013

Libra - (Sep 23 - Oct 22) One by one, your lis t of confus ing and uncertain things is becoming s maller and s maller, particularly for this month ahead. In more than one area of your world, it’s finally becoming clear where you s tand. Pieces of information are coming together to help form a much clearer picture now than was the case even a matter of weeks ago. A few developments will require brave acceptance on your part but the overall picture now is one of long awaited clarity and reass urance.

Scorpio - (Oct 23 - Nov 21) The pres ent planetary pos itions for the month ahead have very s pecial plans jus t formulated for you. A boos t to your finances will help facilitate the pursuit of a creative opportunity you’ve been unable to give much cons ideration toward of late. Where things romantic are concerned, there does appear to be a need to alleviate tens ion between you and a certain pers on. Get s ome time to s how others what you are capable of doing. Soon, where love, money and creativity are concerned, you really will have something to smile about

Sagittarius - (Nov 22 - Dec 21) There’s a difference between being efficient and effective for this month. If efficient you would be all day involved with paper s huffling and lis t making. If effective you would be able to demons trate to others what true, indis putable progres s you have made. It’s time to as s es s where you’re giving effort and accepting res ults that fall s hort of thos e you’d like to be s eeing. It might be time to turn up the gas and purs ue a certain plan with a bit more vigour and determinat ion.

Capricorn - (Dec 22 - Jan 19) A balance needs to be met now between what brings you pleas ure and what you don’t want to do. Be aware that, once pleas ure has been had, you’ll s till have to face s omething that does n’t ins pire or motivate you. Although it won’t go away, you have abs olutely no reas on to fear it and once confronted, the is s ue will dis appear permanently. This is the time when new things come into your life. It would be a new hous e or a new as s ignment in your workplace. Make sure that you get the best one for now.

Aquarius - (Jan 20 - Feb 18) During this month you need to unders tand no matter how hard you act on a certain thing only that which is des tined to happen s hall materialize. Might this attitude be one you’re cons idering now. You could be thinking along unneces s arily exces s ive lines to make s omething happen. Trus t that a pleas ing development will occur with a much more sens ible and minimal approach.

Pisces - (Feb 19 - Mar 20) You probably s ens e purs uit of a particular plan is far from over. In the s ame way s ome fis h refus e to let go once they’ve sunk their teeth into som ething, you too are not ready to throw in the proverbial towel or accept defeat where s omething is concerned. Where you’ve experienced rejection from one s ource, another option is likely to pres ent its elf. Be bold enough to as k for what is due for you. This is more a period of reckoning than lis tening for your Pisces .
