Enroll in Round Up for Recreation through the City of Grand Junction utility billing, or email gjprscholarships@gjcity.org to discuss a donation to the program.

The Grand Valley Parks and Recreation Foundation was recently formed! This new non-profit, called the Grand Valley Parks & Recreation Foundation (GVPARF), raises funds to supports parks and recreation scholarships, projects, and programs throughout Mesa County. To donate, visit www.gjparksandrec.org. Currently, the GVPARF has pledged to help raise funds for the Blue Heron Boat Ramp renovation off of Redlands Parkway.

We welcome in-person registrations at the Parks and Recreation Office located at 1340 Gunnison Avenue. Hours: 8:00 AM12:00 PM and 1:00 PM5:00 PM, Mon-Fri. Credit card, cash, or check.

Required Camp Paperwork To register for Little Sunshines, STARS, SCORE, or Tween Camp, you must fill out the “Required Camp Paperwork” prior to registration. It can take our office up to 48 hours to process your required paperwork. The required paperwork can be found online at gjpr.org/summercamp.

Payment Information

Payment in full is required at the time of registration. Spots cannot be saved for any program. For example, if you want to register your children for 11 weeks of STARS, full payment for 11 weeks is due at time of registration.

Photo Policy Photographs taken of Grand Junction Parks and Recreation programs are often used in marketing materials in print and/or online. If you do not wish to be photographed, or have a family member you do not wish to be photographed, please indicate this on the camp registration form.

Summer Camps Camp Information for Little Sunshines, STARS, SCORE, and TWEEN Camp

You will receive a schedule by email with detailed information about your week at camp the Thursday before the start of each week. Please make sure we have a correct email on file! Campers will need to wear active clothing, including tennis shoes, for our full day activities. All of our camps are mobile camps and will include field trips and day excursions around the valley. Registrations less than one week before the start of camp will incur a $10 late fee.

Tween Camp

SCORE Camp This isn’t your average summer camp! Get your Tween out from in front of the TV and in camp. They will be inspired to stay active, discover new interests, and make life-long friends. Tween campers have a style and a pace all their own. Through a mixture of structured activities, our program has been designed to meet their needs. Just like your preteens, Tween Camp is always on the go. Drop-off and pickup locations will change daily based on activities.

Junior lifeguarding is an eye-opening introduction to the world of professional lifeguarding, and teaches skills ranging from basic rescues to CPR. Junior Lifeguards learn the value of teamwork and professionalism while developing character and having fun! Swim Camp I Love Ponies The I Love Ponies Club allows young boys and girls who don’t have a horse the opportunity to be around horses in a fun and positive environment. Each child will be paired with our ponies to learn the basics of horse care and handling. Our curriculum emphasizes building a relationship with a particular horse, which allows children to gain empathy, self-esteem, and confidence throughout the program. There is no riding in this class. Summer Camps Little Rockers Summer Camp Bring your child in to engage socially and physically through roped climbing and a variety of fun climbing related games and activities to help teach simple technique and movement. Focusing on top rope and problem-solving skills. As the week goes on your child will build skill and climbing fundamentals both on top rope and in our bouldering area. This non-competitive week long camp will guide your child into more advanced skill sets such as rope handling and climbing techniques. Rental gear is provided daily, including a harness and shoes. Summer Camps Intro to Wilderness Survival Learn the basics of thriving in the wild. Campers learn confidence, initiative, communication and common sense through fun survival scenarios in teams and on their own. Skills taught include shelters, fire building, cordage, navigation, knots, traps, primitive skills and more. We won’t get to everything, there’s too much, but the week is packed! We play survival themed games and the week ends with an exciting final scenario and a certificate of achievement. No prerequisites. Bring appropriate clothing, snacks and lunch. Jeremey takes participants through a well developed progression to their best ninja self! Campers build strength, timing, balance, flexibility and explosiveness as instructors take participants through a challenging and fun progression of skills and exercises. Instructors incorporate obstacle courses, martial art forms, acrobatic movements and props to learn and choreograph key parkour and free running movements.
