Living

rom my first experience up until today, I am understanding that every day that I live on earth in this body, I am to experience joy and bliss here. The lives we live here on earth don’t happen by chance; our lives are a direct consequence of what the mind creates. I am here on earth to open my heart every day to unconditional love. I am here in this body to leave behind every remaining fear and attachment. I am here on earth to express every day the joy that I am. I am here to discover here and now, how much more space for freedom lies deep within me. I am here to learn freedom and expand it throughout the world around me. I am here on earth to live happiness and lightness of being. I am here in this body and in this dimension of space and time to learn that each and every moment is the only reality which exists. Everything else is an illusion created by thoughts created by the mind. I am here to remember that in every moment, I can rediscover who I really am and that I am here to have fun and to play because this world is the joyful creation of the Divine. I am here on this earth because I have the full and holy right to do everything that makes me happy and it is my duty to create even more joy in order to contribute to the expansion and the happiness of all and everything in Creation. I came into this body, on this earth, to be lighthearted and carefree, here and now.

“T

he crux of the Light’s messages to me were that our souls live on after we die, our relationships are eternal, and we must love ourselves as it loves us: here in this very moment, unconditionally, just as we are. I came to see the Light as the compassionate teacher that lives within each of us as our highest self.”

to that belief, “R elative my higher purpose has been to engage in practices

that help me and others re-align our human personality with the light of our higher spirit. It is to continue to try to understand and integrate the lessons of the Light; to learn greater self-acceptance, non-judgment, forgiveness and compassion; and to seek and find the joy that comes from being connected to the Light. Over time I experienced a marked increase in my commitment to the inner life and spiritual practices such as prayer, meditation, mindfulness, visualization, healing arts therapy, gratitude, and journaling. I came to see the greater meaning behind the message of the “gift of love”: that the most important thing in life is to grow in love … love of self, love of others, love of life. I came to give less significance to such things as material wealth, fame,

prestige, or power, seeing them increasingly as transient and ephemeral, unable to bring true and lasting fulfillment and happiness. Self-understanding became an important part of my spiritual journey as I came to see that peace and love can only come through careful self-examination and transformation of the things that block it — hatred, resentment, anger, fear, etc. — so each individual must begin with him or herself, go through the darkness, and make the changes within, in order to affect change without.

“When you go back, you must remember that there are no mistakes in life. There are no mistakes. Money, material possessions and job titles don’t matter. The only things that matter in life are love and knowledge. There is nothing else. You must remember that.

The primary vibration of Heaven is love; therefore the more loving we can become, the more heavenly states of consciousness we experience.

nother thing that it [his NDE] did for me was to give me the information that

all you have to do to have a life of great interest … is simply to stay in the present moment … If you stay there, you will live in eternity, I believe. I know this; this is not just a conjecture on my part … I have never ever heard a boring person during all this time [since his recovery] … That’s one of the reasons why every day of my life now seems far better than every yesterday.” ~Heading Toward Omega

The best way to jump-start ourselves to higher vibrations and better lives is to consciously focus on all the good in our lives, stop focusing on what we don’t like, and begin spreading love around everywhere — first to ourselves and then to others — treating ourselves and others with the respect and support we want for ourselves, and sprinkling acts of kindness around the same way.

s an expressive arts facilitator, I discovered I could tap into the Light to find perspective and compassion in my own life, and help others find their own inner source of wisdom and healing. As an artist, I drew from the Light to overcome creative blocks and become more fulfilled in my creative life. One of the most important things I gained from the NDE was the feeling that there is a greater spirit of unconditional love to which we can turn continually for wisdom, comfort, and guidance through life’s challenges. The experience led to a belief that the Light of divinity exists within all of us, that all discord arises from a sense of separation from the Light, and that as we align our minds and hearts with it, we can experience its qualities in the forms of peace, love, joy, compassion and well being.

It’s by learning to be a loving person IN THIS WORLD that we gain the ability to live in a heavenly state of consciousness PERMANENTLY.

The primary vibration I understood that you take yourself of Heaven is love; with you wherever you go. Your therefore the more own consciousness has to change loving we can become, in order to experience the higher the more heavenly frequencies of love, peace, joy, bliss, states of consciousness and tranquility, which I felt a part of.

“In an instant, I knew that the life we live is an illusion. It’s not real because it’s a creation of our minds. We continually create thoughts and then project these thoughts outside of the mind, just as cinematic frames are projected onto a screen. In that moment, I knew that real life is something other than what we think it is. We all are expressions of a Love energy. It is from which we come and where we are destined to return so as to merge once again in this original Oneness which our minds make us believe we have lost. This place is Paradise and our Union with the All.”

he reassured me that it wasn’t just my mind that was stuck in repetitive thoughts. Other people’s brains did that too. That kind of obsessive thinking is an ingrained habit but she said, “These thought patterns can be changed with practice. Each time you [notice] your thoughts are making you feel bad, replace them with a new mantra, like: ‘Everything is unfolding perfectly for me.’”That jogged my memory about a mantra I’d learned from Belleruth Naparstek: “Something wonderful is just about to happen.” Roman suggested I find “the silver lining.” She said, “If you’re worried, it’s likely because you care about something or someone, and that is a good thing. Switch the focus of your worry to the positive emotion behind it—like the desire to have close and loving relationships and to be healthy and comfortable.” The last thing we talked about really surprised me. Roman explained that the same area of our brain is activated when we experience something IRL or use our imagination. We can harness the power of our imaginations to soothe ourselves when worry has got us down. “While we can’t always change our current situations immediately,” said Roman, “the process of imagination can actually help create real changes in our lives.”

told me of daily “ROMAN practices that helped rewire her brain for joy. The first

was to practice gratitude. “One of the fastest ways to feel better in the moment is to take stock of all of the things you have to be grateful for,” she said. “Gratitude activates a cascade of benefits in your brain. Worry and stress cause your amygdala to activate, sounding an alarm and blocking your pre-frontal cortex from making clear decisions. Luckily, the amygdala is soothed with oxygen, and deep breaths often do the trick.” She advised I take several slow, deep breaths. It was so simple yet made me feel better.

GRATITUDE. KEEPS. ME. CALM.

The amount of gratitude I experienced came on many levels. I really appreciated the opportunity to be able to travel as well as what I already had back home. I met a woman on my travels that really placed emphasis on the importance of taking the time to be thankful for things in your life daily and how you will receive more by doing so. Taking it on board straight away, I started voicing my thank you to life and looking for things to be thankful for. A deep appreciation for what I have each day, the people I meet and the challenges that come my way has opened my heart to the blessings that are existent every single day.

When beggars die there are no comets seen but the heavens blaze forth the death of princes. At spare moments in the day, make it a point to contemplate the loss of whatever you value in life. It can make you realize, if only for a time, how lucky you are — how much you have to be thankful for, almost regardless of your circumstances. ~ A Guide to the Good LIfe: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy.
