TEMPORARY IS MINIMAL Official Made in Italy: Temporary Store a New York Competition Mention

01 Milan, Italy | 2016

Team members: Giuseppe Falcone, Victor Morales Barroso, Axel Arias Oval

The meaning of Temporary Store, made us reflect on what actually was needed to design or to be more precise, how it was to be designed the Store. Starting from this premise, we gave the project a character that recalled the meaning of temporary. We have been working on a minimalist design, easy to implement with contained costs. From the study of the plant we determined where was the heart of all the Store, represented by the cash desk. It constitutes the focal point of the whole store, “visually connected to all areas where items will be sold. Areas are defined in the plant through a false ceiling composed of MDF. The importance that we give to the areas is enhanced more by the play of lights, some of them placed between the false ceiling joists to illuminate the paths, while there are minimal lamps hanging from the ceiling that illuminate the exhibition space. The furniture were thought as a metal structure that drops down from the ceiling, finishing some to the ground and other suspended. All the furniture, with minimalist character, are made with a simple dark metal frame, glass for adjustable shelves and sales desk, MDF and black leather for the pouf.

As a design team member, I drafted some schemes and two plans, designed all the furniture, helping my collegues to define the areas and developed the final panel for the competition.

HAMBURGER | MUG | TV Riva 1920: 3° Design Award “Accendi la tua idea” Competition

02 Cantù (CO), Italy | 2016

Team members: Giuseppe Falcone, Marco Imbalzano

The competition involved the design of a stool in cedar wood. We participated in creating three different types of stool, inspired by everyday stuff and food: Hamburger, MUG (coffee cup) and Tv. The Hamburger, is designed for children. It can be used in many environments, children rooms, kindergarten, primary schools, waiting rooms of doctors like pediatricians. Completely made of cedar wood, Brown Alcantara fabric for the burger and gold colour for the cheddar. The Tv is a vintage stool that propose again its entrance into our daily life. The stool fits perfectly in your household, and the structure entirely made of cedar wood brings warmth and sense of familiarity to all the furniture. MUG, a stool made entirely of cedar wood, which recreates one of the first objects that gives us a good morning anywhere in the world you are: breakfast cup! The shape in question, soft and sinuous, is tipped over its usual point of view, in order to propose a comfortable seat. As a design team member, I designed the 3D model and produced different 3D visualizations in different environment.

THE ARCHITECTURE CHANGES SKIN Master’s Thesis Thesis

03

Reggio Calabria, Italy | 2012

The area of the thesis, is located in one of the most beautiful and important places in the city of Reggio Calabria: the waterfront. The goal of recovery of those spaces is giving value and wealth to a piece of town, now abandoned and underused. Green spaces have been redesigned, built new car parks and connections to the existing urban pattern, new spaces for shops, areas for pedestrians and a complete redevelopment of the Nervi Tower. The entire project is characterized by the game of broken lines that are easily identifiable in the plan and in the “skin” that covers the tower. The latter was equipped with bar, restaurant, conference room and relaxation areas. The round tower is fully glazed, allowing views to the entire city. The only part protected by a skin is the one facing South-West where there is the higher solar radiation. The red skin consists of a structure with steel frame and PVC sheets. This skin is proposed again in stairway blocks connecting the different levels of the paths and changing rooms for bathers. The aim of the design is the environmental sustainability and energy saving: solar panels, rainwater recovery, reduction of thermal bridges and radiant floor panel system for indoor heating.

COMMERCIAL KITCHEN Commercial Kitchen for an Hot Food Delivery Company Work experience Built

04

London, United Kingdom | 2015

Team members: Giuseppe Falcone, Riccardo Destro, Domenico Montaruli

The Godo - Sostanza Italiana company, asked us to design a space intended for the production of food. In an area of about 130sqm have entered all the necessary elements to make a commercial kitchen always efficient, autonomous and high-quality. Client requirements were to could handle the company from the same place. So it was divided basically into two parts: the managerial and operational sector. The first sector includes the office to manage the kitchen, online customers, the website and the whole team; the second concerns the real kitchen. The kitchen contains a walk-in fridge, a dry storage, a changing room with toilet and an area of approx 55sqm with all the kitchen equipments for cooking. There are tables, fridges, an oven, a freezer, a pasta boiler and the induction hob. The careful design allowed us to respond and comply with all health and safety requirements and leaving free the entire central area that connects the main entrance with the back entrance. We had a contact with the Building Control Inspector and prepared all the documents for the application with the Council. As a team member, I contributed to design all the space, designed the plans for the electrician and the plumber and I supervised all the works in the building site with the builder.
