PROJECT 01 D ES I G N 2 M O R O

“Design 2MORO was an invigorating experience, inviting our team to reach further and knocking the crust off some old patterns that have been slipping by unchallenged.” —Conference attendee

O B J E C T I V E / A P P R OAC H

The project was to design the conference materials for a hypothetical or actual design conference. The goal is not only to challenge a designer’s ability to demonstrate conceptual and visual design skills that fits the need of the conference. / I redesigned the materials for a design conference called “Design Tomorrow ( 2MORO ).” This conference is a creative technology conference where interaction designers and aspiring professionals with the best minds in the industry. My design direction was around the basic point, line and plane which are the building blocks of every aspect of design. To emphasize the concept, I designed an animated poster and website.

“Just started biking and am using this app to track my time and distance as well as show me good routes. Cycoo App makes my phone the ultimate cycling assistant. ” —User review

O B J E C T I V E / A P P R OAC H

Define the role of research in the design process specific to the creation of successful interactive solutions. Apply the principles of user–centered design in our creation of user interfaces. / Instead of focusing on fitness, I created the Cycoo app for local cyclists who commute from place to place. The purpose of the service is to provide cyclist a more intuitive interface and clear navigation. This app includes local–search service, bike parking spots, different route choices and social sharing.

O B J E C T I V E / A P P R OAC H

Research and choose a company you are interested in and redesign one of their most recent annual or CSR report. Explore and develop new innovative ways to communicate the content with text and image. / I chose Costco as my brand and designed a new branding system that reflects simplicity and clarity rather than chaos and over–layering. The new visual language was inspired by Costco’s industrial and bold feelings.

“I believe Palm to Palm could promote a more rapid move towards sustainable palm oil consumption, and higher levels of accountability throughout the supply chain.” —Customer review

O B J E C T I V E / A P P R OAC H

Identify a problem that can be solved through the graphic design process. Conduct research, investigate various audiences and stakeholders and integrate a variety of design solutions using a comprehensive branding system. / Since the demand for palm oil has risen, beginning in the late 20th century, huge areas of forest in South–East Asia and Africa have been destroyed. Palm to Palm is a non–profit organization creates guidelines to raise the awareness among consumers and promote the use of sustainable palm oil products. The goal is to lessen the environmental impact caused in palm oil supply chains and enable sustainable living.

“You can almost believe it. Chagall’s love pictures are among the most vivid imaginings of human flight.” —Visitor of the exhibition

O B J E C T I V E / A P P R OAC H

For this project we had to brand an upcoming exhibition at an art gallery or museum of our choice. We started by selecting an artist, and deciding which museum would likely hold an exhibition about that person. By creating harmony between image and typography to generate a mood that connects with the theme of the exhibition we then created a companion book and poster. / The artist’s work I selected to turn into an exhibition is Marc Chagall. Influenced by Chagall’s great love, I used the elegant typeface and illustrations to communicate the romantic and dreamy tone. As the flying people in his works, I reshaped some letters to show the poetic metaphors of feeling lighter than air.
