THE YARD (London)

Multi unit residential scheme on Borough High Street near London Bridge. The scheme adopts a simple and elegant contemporary feel yet picks up on the more subtle aspects of the historic adjacent neighbouring buildings. The town house and apartments are accessible from a central courtyard. The external facades are built from white bricks punctured by picture windows. Translucent panelling is used within the central courtyard pulling a filtered light into each apartment featured by a spiral stairs.

THE VETS (Surbiton

Located in the heart of the Surbiton conservation area. The proposals seeks to use a quality combination of material and detailing to sit alongside the historic host building. Slender mullions within the glazing system create a formal facade that is both mature and contemporary. A gentle, multi pitched roof creates a contemporary interpretation of the neighbouring historic context. The facade will as a result provide a pleasant open feel for visitors and occupants. Careful site wide strategy includes car parking and consideration of neighbouring properties.

LODGE CLOSE (Surrey)

New built detached house. Two distinctive pitched volumes straddle the sloping site creating a split level plan. One form clad in long grey bricks is contrasted by the horizontality of the other volume. Large and framed windows face into the front garden whilst to the rear, large expanses of glazing create an ideal inside/outside relationship. The proposal aims to relate directly to the neighbouring context in terms of height and density. It also aims to become an exemplary interpretation of contemporary architectural language which will fit well into the streetscape.

WATER GARDENS (London)

Situated below a seventeen storey high rise apartment block, this simple insertion will become a new three bedroom home. Set on an existing platform, the form seeks to mimic that of the existing apartment block, almost as though the addition has been excavated from within. Taking the profile of the negative space beneath the tower, the mono pitched form positively contrasts the existing form. Extension of the first floor office towards the ground floor flat roof by a glass box that links it to the prefabricated new night space. CLT structure and dry construction metodes. The home is clad in a mosaic of small black tiles which reference yet contrast the small white tiles of the main apartment block. The remaining platform and the roof of the new unit is transformed into a meadow garden. In summary the development becomes an exciting installation to a space otherwise defunct.
