Top Restaurant Pick of the Month With  endless  seafood  and  a   succulent  Cajun  aroma  to  fill  the   air.  Pappadeaux  Seafood  Kitchen  is     considered  an  all  time  favorite  to   many.  With  Dishes  such  as  their   oven  roasted  Chilean  Sea  bass,   who  would  want  to  pass  it  up!

By:   Who  I  Am  Foundation

Pappadeaux  is  absolutely  one  of  my  very   most  favorite  places  to  frequent  for  fresh   seafood.  The  casual  and  warm  New  Orleans   ambiance,  genuinely  friendly  service  and   awesome  quality  of  the  seafood  here  is   dependably  wonderful.  I  love  fresh  seafood   prepared  with  a  Cajun  flair  and  they  truly   deliver  it  in  full  here.  This  is  my  go-‐to  place   for  a  special  occasion.  When  the  weather  is   nice  they  even  have  live  music  playing   outside  on  the  patio  on  weekends  and  it’s   rather  enjoyable  while  awaiting  seating  for   dining  even  if  the  wait  takes  some  time.  I’ve   tried  a  lot  of  other  upscale  seafood   houses/chains  and  they  are  so  often  hit-‐and-‐ miss  or  just  plain  awful.  Pappadeaux  always   keeps  me  coming  back  for  more.   Dan,  E

“I Love You Pappadeaux” 4

Pappadeaux  Seafood  Kitchen  is  the  largest   concept  in  one  of  the  largest  family-‐owned   and  operated  restaurant  companies  in  the   United  States.  The  Pappas  family  of   restaurants  offers  many  different  cuisines   and  traditions,  but  common  to  all  is  an   obsession  with  quality  food  and  superior   service  that's  reflected  in  every  aspect  of   the  Guest  experience.  Pappas  is  a   respected  leader  in  the  competitive   restaurant  industry.  The  Pappas   philosophy  hasn't  changed  much  over  the   years.  The  drive  still  comes  from  a  passion   for  excellence,  a  focus  on  innovation  and   attention  to  detail  and  quality  in   everything  we  do.

Mayor  Richard  Berry  Wins   Berry  to  serve  second  term   By:   Who  I  Am  Foundation

"It's better to work together than work apart. We're one city. We all have the same goals in mind. I think our future is very very bright," Berry said.

department and lackluster economic recovery. The Albuquerque Police Department is under federal investigation for a series of high-profile cases of abuse and more than two dozen officer-involved shootings since 2010.

Berry won soundly, garnering 68 percent of the vote. Berry said his door is open to all the people who did not vote for him. He wants to hear ideas from all sides.

KOAT political analyst Brian Sanderoff projected Berry would win shortly after the polls closed at 7 p.m.

Berry became the city's first Republican mayor when he was elected to a first term in 2009. New Mexico's largest city voted strongly Democratic in last year's presidential and U.S. Senate.

Berry was facing two challengers in former public safety director Pete Dinelli and former police officer Paul Heh.

A September poll showed Berry with a comfortable lead in the city of 555,000.

Berry first took office after beating out incumbent Martin Chavez and state Sen. Richard Romero in 2009. Then, Berry received nearly 44 percent of the vote.

In an effort to unseat Berry, Dinelli tapped strong Democratic ties as he stepped up attacks on the mayor's handling of Albuquerque's scandal-plagued police

City Clerk Amy Bailey told the Albuquerque Journal that she was hoping for a record turnout. "We more than doubled the number of early voters from the 2009 election this year,"

Delicious   Meatballs  Recipe   Everyone  Will  Love   Swedish meatballs can be served as a main course, traditionally with boiled potatoes, lingonberry jam, and cucumber salad. Although called "Swedish," meatballs having this same type of flavoring can be found throughout Scandinavia and other Northern European countries. They also make terrific finger food or cocktail hors d'oeuvre served on toothpicks. They reheat very well and, in fact, the flavor is even better after an overnight rest in the fridge.

Appetizer  Meatball  Recipe   Meatballs  are  the  perfect  nibble  to  serve   during  the  game  —  whether  on  toothpicks,   sandwich  rolls,  or  a  pizza  (yep,  we  said  it).  This   recipe  uses  an  easy  meat  blend  and  pairs  it   with  a  barbecue  sauce  made  of  ingredients   you  probably  have  stored  in  your  pantry.     INGREDIENTS   For  the  meatballs  :   • • • • • • •

1  egg,  lightly  beaten     1/2  cup  soft  breadcrumbs     1/4  cup  2  percent  milk     1/3  cup  finely  chopped  onion     1  teaspoon  salt     1/2  teaspoon  Worcestershire  sauce     1  pound  ground  beef

For  the  sauce  :   • • • • • •

1/2  cup  ketchup     1/2  cup  chopped  onion     1/3  cup  sugar     1/3  cup  vinegar     1  tablespoon  Worcestershire  sauce     1/8  teaspoon  pepper

For  the  meatballs:   Combine the first 6 ingredients together in a bowl. Crumble the beef over the mixture and incorporate, careful not to overmix. Shape into 1-inch balls. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown meatballs in a little vegetable oil and drain. Place in a 2 ½-quart baking dish.

For  the  sauce:   Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine all of the ingredients together in a bowl and pour over the meatballs in the baking dish. Bake, uncovered, for 50-60 minutes or until the meatballs are no longer pink. Serving Size: 18

Giant  Oarfish  Dissected!  Worms,   Eggs    Found  Inside.   Researchers have dissected the two deep-sea oarfish that washed ashore in southern California this month. So far, they found that one was teeming with worms and the other was about to have babies. On Oct. 13, an 18-foot-long (5.5 meters) oarfish was dragged to shore by a snorkeler at Catalina Island. Because the species lives in deep, dark waters, up to 3,000 feet (915 meters) below the surface, intact specimens are rarely discovered. Strangely enough, another smaller oarfish washed ashore north of San Diego just a few days later. Parasitologists from the University of California, Santa Barbara jumped on the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study the elusive creature and asked for a small tissue sample of the oarfish that washed up at Catalina Island. When the researchers cut through a tiny portion of the fish's intestine last week, they found it was carrying a heavy parasite load. [Photos of the Largest Fish on Earth] "Our findings say that these are actually majorly parasitized fish," Armand Kuris, a professor of zoology at UC Santa Barbara, said in a statement. "In this little piece of intestine that we had, we found quite a few of these rather large larval tapeworms. One of them was about 15 centimeters (6 inches) long." Kuris and colleagues say they also found other parasites that provide insight about the diet of the serpentlike fish. Embedded in the intestine was the hooked proboscis of an adult spiny-headed worm. Parasites hop from host to host throughout their life cycle, so the fact that this worm was mature suggests the oarfish ate its former host, likely krill or some deep-water crustacean, the researchers said. The second oarfish, which measured 14 feet (4 m) long, is also under scientific scrutiny. Last week, researchers the Scripps Institution of Oceanography reported that they found hundreds of thousands of eggs inside the beast's 6-foot-long (1.8 m) ovaries, according to the Associated Press. While the causes of death for both of the oarfish remain mysteries, researchers have some working hypotheses. Scientists with the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Southwest Fisheries Science Center performed a necropsy (an animal version of an autopsy) on the smaller oarfish that washed up north of San Diego. Russ Vetter, a NOAA biologist, said in a podcast from the agency that the fish was quite fresh and seems to have stranded shortly before it died. Vetter suspects the creatures may have been carried closer to shore by a strong ocean current, which the oarfish, being poor swimmers, could not escape. Though they resemble the fearsome sea serpents of folklore, a recent video of a live oarfish in the Gulf of Mexico revealed that the fish are actually quite motionless in their natural habitat; they use paddlelike fins that help them balance as their snakelike bodies hover vertically in the water. Growing more than 30 feet (9 m) long, oarfish are the world's longest bony fish, a group that includes almost all fish except sharks and rays. (Whale sharks are the largest of all fish.) Further examination of the preserved tissue samples of the beached fish could help scientists uncover more secrets about the species. "With careful chemical analysis of the lipids and the proteins, we should be able to tell what its diet is and where it fits in the food chain," Vetter said in the podcast, adding that DNA will allow scientists to examine how the oarfish evolved and how the fish is related to other species.

“World’s  worst   wedding?”   Dax  Shepard  spent   just  $142  to  marry   Talk  about  low-‐maintenance   celebrities!   When Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell said "I do" at the Beverly Hills Courthouse on October 17, it was a no-frills event for the well-liked twosome, which the "Parenthood" actor discussed for the first time on Monday's "Jimmy Kimmel Live." "I'm a frugal person. Your wedding, when I was there — thanks for having me — there were helicopters overhead," the 38-yearold said, referring to Kimmel's lavish July wedding to Molly McNearney in Ojai, California. "It felt like an episode of 'M*A*S*H. ... Not that I was counting your money, but I was counting your money because it was flying out the windows. They were setting it on fire at the place." "We all appreciated it," Dax, who attended the wedding with 33-yearold Bell, continued, "but I made a mental note when I watched that. I thought: I'm going to go a different route. So we went to the Beverly Hills Courthouse and — all in, with fuel to get there — $142 out the door." Dax mentioned that while his "Veronica Mars" star bride has a wedding ring — which we assume is in addition to the $142 price tag — he opted not to get one. Though that could change. Kimmel, who bought his band (as well as a replacement … already!) for about $300 at Costco, offered to take the actor ring shopping at the wholesale store. While Dax and Kristen, who welcomed a daughter Lincoln in March, didn't invite any guests to their wedding, they had two friends meet them after the ceremony and their pals brought a cake, which seemed fitting for the comedic couple. "It was just Kristen and I at the courthouse, so they brought us this cake afterwards: 'The World's Worst Wedding,'" he said, sharing a photo of the message on the cake. "How many people can say they threw the world's worst wedding?" World's worst wedding? Nah. It sounds pretty perfect to us.

C ommon Sense From a Not So Common Mind

Instead  of  giving  yourself   reasons  why  you  can’t,  give  yourself   reasons  why  you  can.  Every  failure   brings  you  closer  to  the  next  success.   Who  you  are  speaks  so  loudly,  there   really  is  no  reason  for  your  words.   Success  is  not  something  you  pursue,   success  is  something  you  attract  by  the   person  you  become.  Success  is  one   thing,  impact  is  another.  You  owe  it  to   yourself  to  be  the  best  you  can  possibly  be.  The  only  time  you  should  ever  look  back  is  to  see  how  far  you've  come.   When  you  are  scared  to  drop  your  past,  you  will  never  be  ready  to   catch  your  future.  Forget  fame,  forget  money,  forget  everything   anyone  can  take  from  you.  Joy  is  a  result  of  interest  and  awareness   of  active  appreciation  and  creative  expression....     The  secret  to  success  is  being  ready  when  your  opportunity   comes.  Don't  measure  yourself  by  what  you  have  accomplished,  but   rather  by  what  you  should  accomplish  with  your  ability.  It's  not   about  getting  through  life,  it's  about  growing  through  life  and  having   fun  along  the  way.  Loving  your  life  is  being  willing  to  make  changes,   to  let  go  of  old  ways  and  unhealthy  habits  so  you  can  be  your  best.   What  you  learned  yesterday  will  help  you  today,  and  what  you  learn   today  will  help  you  tomorrow.  The  most  certain  way  to  succeed  is   always  to  try  just  one  more  time.  It's  always  important  to  take  time   for  yourself  each  day,  to  just  think  about  everything  going  on.  So  you   don't  get  lost  in  it....     Know  and  uphold  your  worth.  Refuse  to  be  involved  with   anyone  who  devalues  or  is  a  burden  to  you.  Knowing  your  worth  is   pointless  if  you  still  settle  for  someone  who  can't  or  refuses  to  give   you  what  you  truly  deserve.  Don't  be  afraid  to  be  you  and  be  judged.   Because  those  who  do  judge,  are  the  real  ones  who  need  help.   When  there  is  no  enemy  within  yourself  then  the  enemies  outside   can  not  hurt  you.  When  you  realize  your  worth,  you  realize  a  lot  of   stuff  isn't  worth  dealing  with.  Life's  full  of  compromises  but  refuse  to   compromise  on  your  happiness....

Doesn't  matter  how  bad  you  have  it  or  how  successful   you  are.  There's  always  someone  worse  off  or  more   successful  than  you.  Count  your  blessings.  A  simple  act  of   kindness  can  change  someone's  entire  life.  Be  kind  to   people  because  you  never  know  when  you'll  need  it  in   return.  The  price  that  you  pay  for  hating  people  is  loving   yourself  less.  Nothing  is  more  expensive  than  a  missed   opportunity....   Remember  Success  usually  comes  to  those  who   are  too  busy  to  be  looking  for  it.  Idle  hands  are  the  devil's   playground.  Better  yourself,  stop  just  sitting  around.  You

can  always  become  more  knowledgeable  in  something.   Only  those  who  dare  to  fail  greatly  can  ever  achieve   greatly.  But  you  will  not  lose,  for  even  in  defeat  there's  a   valuable  lesson  learned,  so  it  evens  it  up.  Dreams  are   pointless  if  you  aren't  trying  to  reach  them.  Measure   success  by  how  many  people  you  bless.  Change   someone's  life  for  the  better  today  if  you  can.  Sometimes   you  will  never  know  the  true  value  of  a  moment  until  it   becomes  a  memory.  What  you  need  to  do  is  be  thankful   for  the  life  you  got.  Stop  looking  at  what  you  don't  have   and  be  thankful  for  what  you  do  have.  Positive  thoughts   +  Positive  Energy  =Positive  Results.  Speak  things  into   existence.  Like  this  will  be  a  great  week.  Then  go  make  it   happen...

When  things  aren't  adding  up,  subtract.   Removing  dead  weight  always  makes  you  feel  light  on   your  feet.  Only  make  room  for  supportive  people  in  your   life.  Anybody  else  is  taking  away  from  what  you're  trying   to  build.  If  they're  not  helping,  they're  hindering.  I've   learned  that  it's  not  what  you  have  in  life,  but  who  you   have  that  counts.  Decisions  determine  destiny.  When   someone  is  trying  to  change  their  ways,  the  worst  thing   you  can  do  is  keep  bringing  up  the  past.  Be  concerned   with  your  character  before  your  reputation.  Character  is   what  you  really  are  and  your  reputation  is  what  others   think  of  you.  The  difference  between  who  you  are  and   who  you  want  to  be  is  what  you  do.  All  men/women  are   created  equal  but  some  work  harder  than  others.  Don’t   let  small  minds  convince  you  that  your  dreams  are  too   big.  If  your  dreams  do  not  scare  you,  then  they  simply  are   not  big  enough....     Everything  happens  for  a  reason,  it's  figuring  out   that  reason  that's  the  hard  part.  Always  trust  your   instincts,  they've  gotten  you  this  far.  If  you  haven't  done   it  yet,  today  is  not  a  bad  day  to  start.  Get  your  life   together.  When  you  learn  to  deal  with  it  and  move  on,   that's  when  life  gets  easier.  Sometimes  you  never  know   the  true  value  of  a  moment  until  it  becomes  a  memory.   Never  let  the  fear  of  pain  overpower  the  miracles  love   can  do.  Rid  yourself  of  the  negative  energy  by  eliminating   the  people  who  are  bringing  it  around.  When  you  stop   expecting  people  to  be  perfect,  you  can  like  them  for   who  they  are…..   Sometimes  all  it  takes  is  for  someone  to  believe  in  you.   Keep  yourself  clean  and  bright.  You  are  the  window   through  which  you  must  see  the  world.  Imagination  is   what  you  do  with  your  inspiration.  Some  pursue   happiness.  Others  create  it.  Anybody  can  join  an  empire   but  it  takes  a  special  person  to  try  and  build  their  own.   Be  courteous  to  all,  but  intimate  with  few;  and  let  those   be  well-‐tried  before  you  give  them  your  confidence.   Motivated  by  those  who  sacrificed.  Inspired  by  those   who  believed.  Fueled  by  those  who  doubted.  Stop  letting   people  that  do  so  little  for  you  control  your  mind,   feelings,  and  emotions….
