the annual SANDVIK Desert Classic GOLF CLUB - DOWN THE FAIRWAY the Pasty Putter

Last weekend saw a field of 76 eager golfers turn out for the annual SANDVIK Desert Classic held at the Woomera and Roxby Downs golf clubs; both days were greeted with beautiful weather conditions. Woomera and Roxby clubs should be proud of the way their courses where presented. Firstly, congratulations to the Woomera people that made the weekend so successful, especially those that helped on the course, cleaning up around the clubhouse, refreshment carts and bar staff; without their efforts, the weekend wouldn’t have eventuated. Plenty of recognition must be given to the sponsors in SANDVIK for their on-going support of this great event. From our local support the club thanks The ELDO Hotel for coordinating the salads and meat which were of a high standard. The response from the players was the weekend was a resounding success and can’t wait for next year’s event.

This year the local produce performed creditably with Wally Broome & Joe Blatchford taking out the division 2 winners and Wally also claimed nearest to pin on hole 11 in Woomera and hole 4 in Roxby. Well done to all the other competitors for taking on the Desert Classic format and congratulations to the overall SANDVIK Classic winners in Brad Cox and Shane Hunter. Golf this Sunday is a 3-club stableford event playing for the Wally Broome shield with everyone to be assembled for a 7.30am tee off, all welcome. Well, that’s all the Jibber for this week, so until next week I’ll see you in the bunker or the 19th and remember winners are grinners! See more photos on page 4 ...

CO- OPERA PRESETS

THE BARBER OF SEVILLE BY G. ROSSINI Rosina, the beautiful young ward of the grasping Doctor Bartolo is kept locked up in the house with only a window to see the world outside. Her only pleasure is her weekly music lessons with the slippery Don Basilio and the questionable company of her grumpy maid Berta. One day through her window she hears and then sees a dashing young man who immediately sets

her heart racing. She must meet him, but how? With the help of her trusty and conniving friend Figaro, the barber of Seville, she will do anything to find the stranger whom she loves. A comic drama of mistaken identities, and misdirection ensues as two very different men vie for her affections.

DATE: Saturday 26 May, 2018 TIME: 6pm (doors open at 5:30pm) LOCATION: Roxby Leisure Centre TICKETS: Adults - $25.00, Family – $50.00 (2xa & 2xc or 1xa & 3xc), Additional Children - $10.00 Tickets available at the Roxby Downs Visitor Information Centre – 8671 5941
