Which students test?

Any student expected to graduate at the end of preceding school years or current school year who have not passed both sections of the exam. Any student who may be designated an English Learner or may need to enter the English as a Second Language program. All grade 9-11 students take the test to measure college readiness and qualify for National Merit Scholarships. Any student expected to graduate at the end of the current or next school year, but who has not passed both sections of the exit exam. All 10th grade students, and any 11th or 12th grade students who have not previously passed both sections of the exam. All grade 11 students participate in the EAP, which measures early college readiness and provides an opportunity for advanced placement upon college entry. All 10th grade students who were absent for the February census CAHSEE, and all graduating 12th grade students who have not passed both sections of the test. Seniors earning a score of 350 or higher with use of an IEP or 504 Plan modification may apply for a CAHSEE Waiver to receive their high school diploma. All students seeking to be exempt from 2 out of the staterequired 4 years of Physical Education must take and pass the PFT with a score of 5 or higher. The school automatically tests all incoming 9th graders.

All students in grades 9-11. Tests are administered according to the individual student’s current academic course work and grade level, defined by the number of high school credits the student has earned at the time of testing. The CMA is available to students with an IEP consistently scoring low on the CSTs. CAPA is an alternative assessment of students with significant cognitive disabilities. Testing is administered in the MR class. Students have the choice to take the test upon completing their Advanced Placement course. Higher test scores count toward college course credits. All 12th grade students who have not previously passed both sections of the exam. Seniors earning a score of 350 or higher with use of an IEP or 504 Plan modification may apply for a CAHSEE Waiver to receive their high school diploma.
