MSc FINANCE NEWSLETTER Dear MSc Finance alumni, I hope you are all well and managed to take a restful summer break. I have just welcomed our new MSc Finance students and take this opportunity to give you some program news. As you all know, we have been listed in the Top 10 MSc Finance pre-experience programs in the worldwide Financial Times ranking for two consecutive years. This has generated an increase in the number of applications, and in the quality of these applications. We will therefore have 4 intakes of students this academic year: -
2 intakes in Grenoble, 51 students in total, 30 nationalities. We took them out to the Paladru lake for some teambuilding activities. It was great to see their enthusiasm to meet with students coming from everywhere in the world. I attach a picture of this event. 1 intake in London, 39 students, 18 nationalities. We welcomed them in LSBF’s brand new campus in Carey street (next door to LSE, Holborn). Attached a picture of this great group of students. 1 intake in Singapore. They will join mid-October. It will be our first intake in Singapore (in collaboration with our longtime partner in Singapore MDIS). More news in our next newsletter.
To manage the program and this increase of students, I am now seconded by two experienced Associate Program Directors: - Alison Harrison, for the two Grenoble intakes. Alison has been working as a finance professional for more than 10 years before joining GEM as a professor. She will teach Corporate Finance and Bloomberg trading to the Grenoble cohorts. Alison is supported by Emilie Personnaz as Program coordinator. - Michel Albouy, for the Singapore intake. Michel was a senior University professor of finance for many years before joining us. He will teach Corporate Finance, Company Valuation and Mergers & Acquisition to the Singapore cohort. Michel is supported by Celine Benhamou Foss as Program coordinator (Celine takes care of the London intake as well). We have introduced some changes into the MSc Finance program for this new academic year. We have decided to group into the same module Corporate Finance and Investment Decisions to avoid overlaps between the two. Accordingly, we have grouped Company Valuation Methods with Mergers & Acquisitions. Then we have added Financial Restructuring to LBOs and Venture Capital as many companies face financing issues in these days of economic uncertainty. More details on the program can be found at http://www.grenoble-em.com/356-msc-in-finance-2.aspx#Programme One MSc Finance alumni (from Grenoble 3) will teach on the program this year. So if you want to share your professional experience and test your pedagogical skills, don’t hesitate to contact me. We now have a significant MSc Finance alumni group and it is becoming an asset to our program. I would like to share some alumni success stories with our current students and

MSc FINANCE NEWSLETTER alumni, to help them understand the steps necessary to become a successful finance professional. To that end, I have asked one Grenoble student Anthony Abou Khater to interview some alumni. These interviews will then be communicated to all MSc Finance students and GGSB alumni. I hope that some of you will volunteer to participate in these interviews. It can be done by e-mail, by Skype or face-to-face if you happen to be in Grenoble... It won’t take a lot of your time, but it will be of interest to fellow alumni and a great help to current students. I hope I can count on you. Please let me know if you are willing to participate in these interviews. I am always very happy to receive news from you, so don’t hesitate to send an email. Kind regards, Stephanie BOYER Professor MSc Finance Program Director Grenoble Graduate School of Business
