Welcome to the 2026 Get Your Teach On National Conference!
Whether this is your first year or you ’ ve been with us since the beginning, we are so grateful you chose to spend these days investing in your craft, your confidence, and your heart for kids. This year ’ s theme, Together Is Better, is more than a slogan. It is the foundation of everything we believe about teaching, learning, and leading.
Over the last decade, we’ve had the privilege of stepping into thousands of classrooms across the country. And every time, the same truth rises to the top: extraordinary teaching doesn’t happen alone. It happens in communities. The teams of educators who encourage one another, challenge one another, problem-solve together, and share a relentless commitment to strong Tier I instruction that changes outcomes for kids.
Here at GYTO, you are surrounded by that kind of community. You’re sitting among teachers and leaders who are dreaming big right beside you, who believe that engagement is a pathway to rigor, and who know that when we align our practices, our purpose, and our passion, students win every single time.
Over the next few days, you’ll experience powerful model lessons, high-impact strategies, honest conversations, and moments of joy that refill your cup. But more importantly, you’ll build connections with your track, your presenters, your colleagues, and this incredible network of educators who are ready to walk this journey with you long after the balloons come down.
Our hope is that you leave this conference not only with new tools and ideas, but with a renewed belief in the collective strength of this profession. You don’t have to do this work alone. And you were never meant to.
Thank you for showing up.
Thank you for giving your whole heart to your students. Thank you for believing that better is possible and that better happens together. We’re cheering you on every step of the way.
WHY CHOOSE GYTO WHY CHOOSE GYTO
Because It Works. For Instruction. For Culture. For Retention.
When administrators choose to invest in Get Your Teach On, they’re not choosing a conference—they’re choosing measurable instructional growth, renewed teacher morale, and stronger school culture. Districts across the nation consistently report that GYTO moves the needle in the areas that matter most: Tier I instruction, student engagement, and teacher retention.
And while GYTO is rooted in research-based, high-impact practices, we also know this important truth: You cannot reach a teacher’s practice until you ’ ve reached their heart.
Our experience and our data show that when teachers feel seen, valued, energized, and supported, they are far more likely to stay, grow, and implement new learning with fidelity.
What the Data Shows

FIVE TO THRIVE THROUGH THE LENS OF HIGH-QUALITY MATH INSTRUCTION
live model lesson with: wade king
a real-time look at what strong Tier I math instruction should look and feel like in a K–5 classroom You’ll ni-lesson with live students—highlighting conceptual understanding, discourse, modeling, reasoning, and y move connects directly to the Five to Thrive and what high-impact math instruction looks like at its best.
This experience includes three intentional phases:
PART I — Prepare Your Look-Fors - Sharpen Your Math Instruction Lens
Before the lesson begins, you’ll receive clear guidance so you can observe with focus not overwhelm. Math instruction requires precision: clear models, purposeful questioning, accurate representations, and visible thinking. This look-for list helps you see all of that with intentionality.
You’ll enter the lesson knowing exactly which math-specific behaviors and instructional moves to observe
PART II — Live Model Lesson - Watch Rigorous, Student-Centered Math Instruction in Real Time
You will observe a complete math mini-lesson taught live with students featuring modeling, multiple representations, guided reasoning, and structured discourse.
You’ll See:
A clear math learning target connected to prior concepts and real-world meaning
Modeling through multiple representations (concrete → pictorial → abstract, number lines, arrays, place value models, etc.)
Strategic teacher questioning that pushes reasoning, not guessing
Math talk routines such as “explain your thinking,” “ prove it,” or “turn and talk”
Use of error analysis and common misconceptions to deepen understanding
Students showing their work, sharing strategies, and using academic language
The teacher adjusting the path of the lesson based on student responses
Engagement and behavior expectations woven into the instructional flow
This is real math instruction happening with real students—clear, structured, rigorous, and fully aligned with Five to Thrive.
PART III — Debrief + Q&A - Breaking Down the Math Moves That Matter Most
After the lesson, you’ll walk through each phase of the instruction to understand why the teacher made certain choices and how those choices impact student learning
Debrief Includes:
Breakdown of the modeling sequence and why those representations were chosen
How misconceptions were caught and corrected
How math talk supported deeper reasoning
Where and how data was collected during the lesson
How pacing, movement, and proximity strengthened the learning experience
Simple ways to adapt these strategies for your grade level or curriculum
Q&A:
Ask anything about math instruction—modeling, questioning, small groups, guided practice, manipulatives, misconceptions, discourse routines, or data-driven adjustments.
You’llWalkAwayWith:
A clear picture of what strong Tier I math instruction looks like
Language, models, and strategies that deepen reasoning—not just answer-getting Math talk routines and questioning stems to elevate student thinking
A lens for identifying and addressing misconceptions in real time
Confidence to bring these math moves into your own classroom tomorrow
BACK ON TRACK: CALL IN THE C.R.E.W. WHEN MATH BREAKS DOWN
Session Presented by: aPRIL GRAVES AND NAOMI O’BRIEN
n runs on progressions. When we understand how each grade’s learning our teaching becomes more intentional and our students’ understanding sticks. sion breaks down, so does their confidence, fluency, and growth.
Join April and Naomi for a fast-paced, hands-on session where we’ll dig into the multiplication progression from 3rd–5th grade. Together, we’ll uncover where students most often veer off track and what it takes to get them back in the race.
Using our C.R.E.W. framework, you’ll step into the role of a math pit crew, learning how to diagnose conceptual and fluency breakdowns, make the right instructional “repairs,” and keep learning moving forward. Expect movement, manipulatives, and meaningful “aha” moments as April and Naomi help you connect the dots across the standards and strengthen the foundation for every student’s success. Leave this session ready to tune up your teaching, close the right gaps, and help every learner finish strong.

ENGAGING AND INDEPENDENT SMALL GROUP MATH LEARNING SPACES
Session Presented by: Dr. Nandi Inman
This session empowers teachers to design and implement small group math instruction that fosters student independence, promotes a structured learning environment, and builds a positive classroom culture. Participants will explore practical strategies for organizing rotations that maximize engagement and support differentiated instruction. Many teachers struggle to effectively manage small group math rotations that balance student independence with meaningful teacher support. Without a clear structure and classroom culture, rotations can become chaotic or overly teacher-dependent, limiting student engagement and learning growth. This session addresses these challenges by providing educators with proven strategies to establish a smooth, empowering rotation system that increases student ownership and improves math outcomes.
Session Research
Research and classroom experiences consistently show that well-structured small group rotations boost student engagement and reduce disruptive behavior, creating more focused learning time. Teachers implementing these strategies report noticeable improvements in student independence and math achievement, fostering a more dynamic and effective math classroom.
Session Description
TEACH IT SO THEY TRY IT: HOW STRONG MATH INSTRUCTION REDUCES BEHAVIOR
Session Presented by: Eugene Banks
Most behavior challenges in math aren’t behavior problems, they’re access problems. When students don’t feel successful, they disengage; when instruction removes barriers, students rise. This session unlocks the math-specific instructional practices that decrease off-task behaviors by increasing clarity, support, and cognitive challenge. Educators will explore techniques for modeling thinking, structuring small-group instruction, using math tools purposefully, and creating tasks that promote productive struggle. The result? A math classroom where students feel capable, confident, and ready to learn.
Session Research Session Standards
NCTM Standards for Mathematical Practice: MP1, MP3, MP4, MP5
Tomlinson, C.: Differentiated instruction reduces frustration and increases academic behaviors.
NCTM (Principles to Actions): Clear math routines improve engagement and mathematical reasoning.
Hattie, J.: Feedback and scaffolded instruction have some of the highest effect sizes on achievement and on-task behavior.
