Joel Bailey’s voice is like velvet, soothing the soul; his lyrics are beautifully crafted, with gorgeous oxymorons playing on his lips throughout this heartfelt love song. The singer- songwriter from London has a lot of achievements to his name, not least being selected by Paloma Faith as winner of the 2010 Shure Creative Award for song writing. His music is blues and soul inspired and this acoustic version really showcases his sheer talent for music. The song feels like it was written in a moment of realisation after being in a confused place for a long time, meaning that the lyrical honesty is really enhanced by the simplicity of the guitar riff. Admittedly, his lyrics are, in places, a bit pretentious, yet I think this just adds to the song, with its gorgeously simple guitar track. Overall, this song is a testimony to his writing skills and shows real future promise for the artist. If he keeps writing like this, he could be the next Ed Sheeran.
