Mining Day at the Alaska State Fair Launches New Brand For Longtime Sponsor

Anchorage, AK - Council of Alaska Producers, the statewide, non-profit trade association representing Alaska’s large metal mines is launching a new name Alaska Metal Mines will celebrate and introduce its new brand with a public awareness campaign at the Alaska State Fair Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023.

“Mining Day is our largest annual event and a great opportunity to showcase how Alaska’s metals advance the human experience,” said Alaska Metal Mines Executive Director, Karen Matthias

“Alaska’s approach to mining is world-class, smart and responsible We want to connect with Alaskans and share how our natural resources not only benefit our daily lives but make the impossible possible.”

As the world addresses issues of climate change and the advancement of renewable energy, Alaska’s metal resources could play a major role helping to develop the technologies that impact these critical endeavors Coupled with the growing global demand for metals that fuel these and other advancements in transportation, medicine, automation, machinery, and computer-based technology, Alaska is well positioned to lead future innovations

The brand unveiling includes a host of giveaway prizes, all with direct connections to metals and minerals

● An adult and kids bike

● A battery-powered snowblower

● A solar-powered generator

Fairgoers will also receive a free drawstring bag at the fairground entrances.

The organization was created in 1992 to advocate for the safe and responsible development of Alaska’s metal and mineral resources and inspire Alaskans to realize a shared goal of sustainable mineral production. Mining provides essential economic and social benefits to Alaska communities and Alaskans It has sponsored Mining Day at the Alaska State Fair since creating the event in 2008.
