First Sino-Italian Earth Sciences Forum SECOND CIRCULAR During the 86th Congress of the Italian Geological Society will be hold the “First Sino-Italian Earth-Sciences Forum�, promoted by the Geological Society of China and Italian Geological Society with the partnership of Italian Embassy in Beijing, Technological and Industrial Innovation Office. The target of the event is building long-term relationships between Senior and Young scientists and professionals of Italy and China.

1. Introduction China successfully hosted the First World Young Earth Scientists (YES) Congress 2009, which got the patronage of UNESCO, IUGS (International Union of Geological Sciences), IYPE (International Year of Planet Earth) and moved together young scientists from 40 countries to talk about Climate Change, Geological Disasters, Mineral and Energy Resources and other issues of interest for the modern society. The Congress was lead by an international group of colleagues and involved China and Italy as two of the most dedicated partners.

Particularly strong professional links were created among Chinese and Italian young scientists, which brought positive effects on all global community. This Sino-Italian Earth Sciences Forum has been proposed to enhance this collaboration and offer special chances of collaboration between these two countries The Forum will look for chances to implement and enlarge dialogue between China and Italy in the forecaming years like a bridge between two different geological contests of the world, and from this platform enlarge dialogue to all international community.

related to earth-sciences and wealth generation. The target of the workshop is creating networking opportunities between Chinese and Italian scientists and professionals, to promote the development of new projects, encourage international research and working opportunities. Chinese and Italian scientists and professionals will present case studies on different issues related to mineral and energy resources (prevision total 8 oral reports + posters). All reports and posters will function as cues based on which participants will have chance to discuss about their own research interests and establishing new contacts. Colleagues registered to SGI Congress, interested in presenting an oral or poster presentation, can send their abstract in English using this template (link) by 21st of July 2012 to one of conveners indicated below. 2.4 Science, Business, professional Matchmaking Session Date 19th September 2012 - afternoon Time: to be fixed Venue: University of Calabria, Arcavacata di Rende (CS), Italy During this meeting attendees registered at the Forum, composed by Italian delegates and members of Chinese delegation will have chance to introduce each other, exchange contacts. We are focused to create concrete and realable contacts, the Geological Society of Italy and Geological Society of China will be the base on which the contacts will be shared. Everyone is very welcome to expand his scientific and professional network. The delegation from China, considering that their cannot represent all earth science panorama of China, will take commitment of receiving all introductions and personal profile of Italian colleagues, and forward them to organizations and other Chinese colleagues working in the same field. This will make possible creating a trustable link, enhancing possibilities of scientific and professional collaboration between Chinese and Italian Geologists. Regarding individuals, are particularly welcome geologists under 35 years, with target of establishing long-term relationships between China and Italy. The Organization of the Forum will take charge for all registered participants that contact conveners in advance at addresses indicated below, both for Chinese and Italian participants, to pre-arrange meetings between different people based on criteria of scientific and/or professional interest. 3. Future activities In 2013 will be held a event as follow up of present Forum in China organized by Geological Society of China. All registered attendees of First Sino-Italian Earth Sciences Forum will be invited.
