FROM THE PRESIDENT THE PRESIDENT’S VISION STATEMENT (JUNIOR COLLEGE)

Leadership is our legacy at Georgia Military College, and it is the future of every student who walks through our doors. Since our founding in 1879, GMC continues to transform our students and cadets across the institution into authentic servant leaders and engaged citizens. With civility and respect for others, they are true to themselves in a complex world while striving to serve the needs of others, those in their care and in their communities. Unprecedented opportunities now abound at GMC to Start Here and Go Anywhere! From our K-12 Prep School to our Junior College to our Global Online Leadership College, we provide students with a world-class education where academics are exceptional while also developing the leadership skills of every student. More than ever before, we are Contributing to Student Success:

In its Vision 2029, GMC will be a nationally recognized leader providing a character-based higher education, improving students’ personal well-being, and giving hope for a brighter future. The vision is achieved by being accessible to any student desiring a character-based college-level education, being the best two-year college in the state of Georgia and among the top five in the nation, being nationally recognized as a “best value” college, being recognized as a military friendly school, being nationally recognized as a leader in the innovation and delivery of individual learning support services, being nationally recognized as a leader in the innovation of programs, and by increasing scholarship endowments to make education affordable.

V

• Every member of our dedicated faculty and staff understands that it takes a family working together toward the same goals to push our students to success. That’s why we are striving to empower our faculty and staff with the information and resources they need to demonstrate authentic servant leadership and the culture of care in the education of each student.

WILLIAM B. CALDWELL IV LIEUTENANT GENERAL, U.S. ARMY (RET.)

• Every member of our faculty and staff plays an integral role in what distinguishes GMC from other institutions—leadership. We are a leadership institute! • In order to develop the leadership, character, civility, and respect within each of our students, the education we provide must transcend textbooks. It’s up to us to embrace leadership, own it, and demonstrate it to our students every single day. • We continue to offer a unique character-based education grounded in the timeless core values of Duty, Honor, and Country to ensure our preparatory school and college graduates are fully equipped ambassadors with the necessary L.E.A.D.E.R. qualities (Loyal, Effective, Authentic, Disciplined, Empowered, & Respectful) to meet future ethical challenges in a competitive global society. • We are implementing a transformational leader growth and development model applied through a culture of care and the infusion of leadership, ethics, and character development into all courses and degree programs so our students can enter their chosen profession prepared to be leaders of themselves and of others. More than ever before, we are Providing Pathways of Opportunity: • We’ve reached a point now where a student can enter GMC in Kindergarten, earn a Prep/ high school diploma, and continue on to earn a four-year degree and then seamlessly transfer into follow-on graduate programs. • 850 students are enrolled in our K-12 Prep School. With Wilder Hall and the Wilder Annex currently under renovation, restoration, and construction, this initiative will provide six more classrooms so that we can grow our K-5 to three sections each in SY24-25. This will increase our Prep School to 930 students. • Our new “bridge program” is already turning rejection letters into GMC acceptance letters. Modeled after our wildly successful Academy Prep Program, our agreement with Wesleyan College allows students to be accepted conditional upon their first year of study at our Junior College. Each day, we are seeking to provide additional bridge programs to open the door to higher education to more students.

• Our Junior College Corps of Cadets continues to maintain its reputation as a prominent institution for military training and producing exceptional leaders. The word is spreading, as this January we welcomed the largest number of new cadets in the history of the Corps at this time in the school year. • Our Junior College Corps of Cadets continues to innovate new and exciting ways to further develop leaders, such as the inaugural Leadership and Character Development Course (LCDC) – a one-week seminar of intensive leader development provided to our entire Corps, where they learn from the best while receiving college credit and a leadership certificate. • Our Junior College Corps of Cadets Service Academy Preparatory Program continues to grow each year, with almost 60 academy prep cadets, or “scholars” as they are called, as a part of this program. These “scholars” are preparing to enter one of the five U.S. Service Academies this summer to join more than 200 cadets who already graduated from our Scholars Program. • Our Global Online Leadership College now provides our GMC students with the opportunity to receive a work-ready four-year BAS degree. These students have the opportunity to continue their education while they bypass the admissions process and seamlessly transition into an MBA program at Georgia College & State University or Wesleyan College. The BAS degrees are some of the fastest-growing programs in our college, reaching almost 1,000 students enrolled this year. • Our Global Online Leadership College is continuing work to provide guaranteed admission to more MBA programs within Georgia. More than ever before, we are Thinking and Acting as One Institution: • Whether a student attends in-seat classes at our Main Campus, remotely, at one of our 11 satellite locations, or virtually through our Global Online Leadership College, they receive the same highquality education with a strong emphasis on developing their leadership skills and character through our Leadership and Character Across the Curriculum initiative. This initiative ensures that every degree program and every course is taught through the framework of leadership, civility and respect for self and others. • Every service we provide to facilitate student success on any campus is available to every GMC student at every campus. More than ever before, we are Investing in the Future of GMC: • None of this would be possible without the support of our alumni and friends! • We just concluded the largest comprehensive fundraising campaign in the history of GMC…Be The One: The Campaign for Georgia Military College. Together we raised $20.48M, surpassing our campaign goal of $15 million, and we did so two years ahead of plan! • Through your support and investment in our future, you have ensured that the “Legacy of Leadership” that is the hallmark of GMC will continue to make a difference in the future for our students. On behalf of the GMC Board of Trustees and the entire GMC Family, we want to thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to making a difference in the lives of our students. It is an incredible honor to be serving every day with an amazing GMC team committed to our #1 Big Idea: Contribute to Student Success. Thanks for everything that all of you have done to make GMC so special and unique as it has been for more than 143 years!

“Leadership is Our Legacy ….and Your Future”

THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO SUPPORT GMC

ENDOWED GIFT OPPORTUNITIES

UNRESTRICTED

A gift for endowment demonstrates farsighted commitment to Georgia Military College. Endowments are permanent funds, maintained in perpetuity by the GMC Foundation, from which only a portion of the annual investment return is used for the purpose intended by the donor. The rest of the investment yield is returned to the principal. Thus, over the years, the fund can grow with the goal of keeping pace with inflation. Such endowments, which typically bear the name of the donor or donors, reflect your interests and serve as an enduring testament to your generosity.

When you do not restrict the use of your gift, you allow flexibility in meeting needs. These funds are managed prudently and applied where they will be most beneficial to meet a variety of current needs.

Additional gifts may be made to the fund to increase the principal and thereby increase the annual investment income. Endowments represent rewarding gift opportunities because they offer the donor the satisfaction of knowing that his or her gift will continue working for future generations. The Basics of Establishing an Endowment

Gifts may be unrestricted in use, or you may designate your gift to a particular program or purpose. However you choose to support GMC, you will be embarking on a partnership with an institution that, through development of both the intellect and the character of its students, impacts lives in positive and lasting ways. There are almost as many ways of giving as there are programs, projects and priorities of the College that need your support.

// An endowed fund may be established with a contribution in the form of cash, appreciated securities or other charitable gifts, such as a bequest. // It may be established with either a single gift of $25,000 or a gift of at least $5,000 and a pledge of the remaining $20,000 over a period of up to five years. // The fund is invested by the GMC Foundation, which serves as a steward of the endowed funds. The Foundation is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Purposes of Endowed Funds // An endowed gift offers the opportunity for donors to have their names, or the name of a loved one, linked to an area in which they have a special interest, creating a legacy for years to come. // A named endowment can provide an opportunity for an academic department or an athletic program to grow and excel. // A named endowment can provide a scholarship to aid deserving students year after year. Endowment Reporting As a donor who has established an endowment, you will receive an annual report from the GMC Foundation on the financial status of the fund, including earnings and distributions.

PROGRAMS & SERVICES Gifts may be designated to any of the wide variety of programs and services offered by Georgia Military College. Perhaps there is a particular area, such as library enrichment, technology, athletics, or an academic department in which you have an interest. Such gifts will be applied in their entirety to the area of your designation.

UNRESTRICTED If you choose to, you may designate your financial assistance to any of several initiatives undertaken by the Foundation through partnering with the school’s leadership to identify special priorities for giving.

OAK LEAF SOCIETY The Oak Leaf Society recognizes alumni and friends who have included the GMC Foundation in their estate plans. Their gifts for the College’s future are made through wills, trusts and charitable gift annuities, or by naming the GMC Foundation as the beneficiary of life insurance policies, retirement fund accounts, or other financial instruments. The generosity of these legacy donors ensures that the mission of Georgia Military College will continue to be fulfilled for years to come. Members of the Oak Leaf Society, who have solidified their gift, are invited to be special guests at the President’s Gala, hosted annually by the President of Georgia Military College.

FOUNDATION CHAIR MESSAGE

DAVID GRANT Chairman THE GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE FOUNDATION

The Georgia Military College Foundation, Inc. was established in 1955 to support the character-based educational mission of Georgia Military College. It is through the tremendous generosity of our alumni and friends, that the Foundation is able to support the hopes and dreams of GMC students (kindergarten through college) and to ensure they have every opportunity to succeed in life. Since 1879, Georgia Military College has never wavered in its mission to produce educated citizens and contributing members of society with foundational lessons of leadership. The Foundation is proud to stand in support of this mission, and we believe our communities, state and nation are all the better because of the graduates who have passed through our gates.

On behalf of our Foundation Board of Trustees, I am pleased to report that the state of the Foundation is strong. Our most recent fiscal year ending June 30, 2022, saw continued strength in operating revenue and disbursements to the College. Within this year, following the pandemic, 3,828 gifts were received totaling $1,976,434.66. Unfortunately, although the Foundation’s endowment investment policy is a prudent one with funds carefully monitored and managed, the market performance internationally over the past year resulted in losses in investment return. Our total net assets decreased by 7% to $39,795,129. However, because of your generosity, we were able to disperse $609,504.00 to help our students with scholarships. As a GMC alumnus, father of three GMC alumni and the Chairman of the GMC Foundation, I would like to personally thank you for the difference you have made in the lives of the students GMC serves. Your support is truly a gift to the future of our great state and nation…and for that we are grateful.

E N D O W E D S C H O L A R S H I P S and F U N D S The Georgia Military College Foundation gratefully acknowledges the generosity of donors to the following funds that are either building toward endowment or fully endowed, with individual market value of $25,000 to more than $1.5 million each. An endowed fund represents a “perpetual gift.” Income from the invested fund is used to fulfill the intended purpose, and any income in excess of the award is returned to the principal to grow the fund. An investment of $25,000 will establish an endowed fund and may be completed over a five-year period. Abe & Celia Goldstein Memorial Scholarship Fund Academic Endowed Scholarship Alan B.
