Game Summary Georgia rang in the New Year with a competitive, yet relatively easy win over its in-state neighbors, calling upon reserves Troy Brewer and Jeremy Price to carry the day. Brewer’s 15 points were a career high, and Price chipped in 13 points in just 16 minutes. Starting center Albert Jackson also added the first double-double of his career in leading the Bulldogs. Georgia, which had torched the nets in its previous game, struggled with its shooting throughout. Brewer entered at the 13-minute mark, his team already leading by nine, and his marksmanship elevated the Bulldogs’ lead to double digits. The sophomore guard’s first 3-pointer of the day boosted Georgia’s lead to 16-4 with 12:50 left in the first half. A Trey Thompkins layup with 2:07 left got the Bulldogs their largest lead of the half at 34-20. Though Georgia kept the Owls at arm’s length for the game’s remainder, it never could break the game wide open. After building an early second-half lead to 16 points, the Dogs watched as Kennesaw scrapped back within 55-46 on a John Allison bucket at the 9:05 mark. Thompkins, Price and Dustin Ware all scored late buckets, however, to secure victory.

Game Summary Missouri capitalized on key Georgia turnovers during a brief second-half stretch, breaking open a tight game and holding the Bulldogs at bay for a hardfought victory. The Tigers took the lead for good at 47-46 on a J.T. Tiller layup with 10:43 left. Terrance Woodbury committed miscues on both of Georgia’s next two possesssions, and Demarre Carroll stretched the Mizzou lead by making a pair of foul shots after each turnover. The visitors got their lead to eight by cashing in on a Trey Thompkins turnover, Zaire Taylor canning a jump shot at the 8:40 mark that made the score 56-48. The difference reached double digits on another Tiller layup that pushed the score to 67-56 with 4:48 left. It reached as high as 15 before Georgia closed with a mild rally. The Bulldogs got as close as 77-72 on a Travis Leslie layup with 27 seconds left. Behind Woodbury’s hot shooting, Georgia took early control of this game, leading by as many as six points in the first half. The Tigers, however, closed the half on a 12-3 run to take a 32-28 lead into intermission.

Game Summary After trailing for three-fourths of the night, Georgia Tech used considerable muscle and a scrappy, pressing defense to overtake Georgia in the two rivals’ annual tussle. The Yellow Jackets made just 36 percent of their shots and thrice trailed Georgia by 13 points in the second half. The last of those times came at the 16:40 mark, when Terrance Woodbury’s jumper pushed the margin to 45-32. By the time Georgia scored its next field goal -- a short jumper by Trey Thompkins with 6:55 left -- the Bulldog lead had been erased. Perhaps the most telling possession of the game occurred just over three minutes later. With Georgia leading 56-54, Tech’s Gani Lawal missed a point-blank layup. The Jackets then rebounded three more misses in a 10-second span, and after the fourth offensive rebound, Zachery Peacock’s two free throws knotted the score at 56-all. Offensive boards again proved fatal for Georgia in the final minute. Lawal rebounded Peacock’s miss -- more accurately, he outfought Woodbury for a loose ball -- and dunked for a 64-60 lead with just 19 seconds left.
