7 Tips for More Charisma & Personal Power A correct and positive attitude in whatever you do will make things easier, and even enjoyable. This is certainly true in developing more charisma and personal po31wer. Use one of these tips each day for a bit of positive thinking that can help you move toward your charisma and personal power goals. Take passionate action towards living your life by design. Talk is cheap. Action = deposits in the bank of a passionately authentic future. Without it, passion is void and charisma is not likely to take place. Tinker with your mind by strengthening your reasons for your goals and the action you need to take. Commit to yourself as well as those you love to powerfully create a life you can love. Instead of reacting, commit to creating from your heart and soul, out of love rather than fear. A dream will still be a dream without motion. Be amazed as the transformation begins. As you apply the information to become more charismatic, recognize and embrace the thought that each moment is perfect regardless of its outcome. Every time you hit on something that may appear too extreme, why not give it a shot and see if it will work. If you are not pleased with the outcome, decide to use that moment to learn from and make the appropriate shift. Dwell completely in a place of gratitude. Learn to utilize what you have in your hands and make use of it in the most constructive way. Slipping into neediness will become less of a habit when you repeatedly shift towards gratitude, away from poverty consciousness. You are blessed in many ways every day.
Use a Passion Formula of Recognize/Reevaluate/Restore to replace the Shoulda/ Woulda/Coulda whirlwind. The former is based in increased knowledge and abundance while the latter focuses on scarcity and lack. As you face people or tasks that may seem harder than scaling the summit of the mountain, recognize that it is doable step by step. Look at the steps, not the whole when you start to feel overwhelmed. Keep humor in your thoughts, laughing at and with yourself when possible. You may find yourself quite entertaining when you loosen up. Life has so much to offer to allow you to mope around in self pity. Humor is very attractive, very passionate: life-giving. Believe that you are the architect of your destiny. No one can take your passionate future from you except for you! Create your life authentically. Live with charisma and power. As long as there’s still breath in your body, there is no end to how much you can accomplish in a lifetime. Watch everything flow into place of passion and personal power.
Building Self-Confidence As happy as you may be, chances are that you, like many outwardly content men, suffer from a lack of self-confidence. This is not to say that you are overly shy, nervous, inadequate in your daily routine or that you have any serious psychological hang-ups, but it could be a lack of self-confidence if you feel as though you are not living up to your potential. Even if you’re reasonably assured most of the time, it is beneficial to do a little mental strengthening every once in a while. It feels good to be self-confident, which perpetuates more confidence, impresses people and brings you success. DEFINING SELF-CONFIDENCE Simply put, self-confidence is a sense of certainty that your own personality is honest, capable and fulfilling. Self-confident people generally have a high self-esteem. If you have a diminished self-esteem, bolstering your self-confidence will help immeasurably. Note that there is a distinguished difference between self-confidence and confidence in general. You may be confident that you can impress a woman or a boss, while at the same time you question whether or not you are interesting to smart women or have chosen the right job. Or, you might walk into a party and command the floor, but as soon as you have a moment to yourself, you wonder if you really fit in. Confidence can exist without self-confidence, meaning that there can be a certain degree of falsehood -- of lying to one’s self -- at play. Get a handle on it. cont. on page 46 ...

.African American men are lacking
Mentoring the “Missing Link” By Influence
Webster’s Dictionary describes mentoring as a trusted coach or guide, a person who gets you from point A to Z, by building a relationship with you. I call it the missing link. The relationship is up close, personal and has nothing to do with your education or social status, but with more of the fact that the men tee sees something in the mentor that he needs in order to be better at what they do. Statistics show that professionals who have a mentor earn between $ 5,610 and $ 22,450 more annually, than those who perhaps don’t have a mentor.
when it comes to having a relationship with a mentor and part of that has to do with the fact that we struggle when it comes to building relationships with one another. As men we are often taught that in order to make it we can’t depend on anyone but ourselves, which is a miss conception that has to change. When we go through our struggles then finally reach a point of success, we often feel as the next man has to struggle the same way we did in order for them to become successful, which is where the link is missing. When building a relationship with a mentor, one has to be vulnerable and allow themselves to let their guard down and that’s something that African American men have a hard time doing. One reason we have a hard time doing that is a lot of us have never had close relationships with our fathers, which makes us more resistant to opening up to another man. Giving back to our communities and becoming mentors is becoming more and more popular today with young black men, but it’s also needed among our adult males as well. For instance a brother who has just came out of prison for doing time needs a mentor to help keep him from going back. A brother who was raised in a single parent home with no father, but now has a family needs a male mentor to help him become a better father and so on and so forth. So as we continue to grow as African American men and the leaders of our communities and leaders of the world, we must understand the importance of mentoring. When a man becomes successful he should always find another young man who is interested in what the mentor has learned and not what he’s earned.
Building the Perfect Resume By Kay Peterson, Ph. D
A good resume is vital. It’s your calling card to a prospective employer – one that lays out your qualifications and hopefully gets you a job interview. Remember, most employers will spend less than five minutes reviewing your resume. Follow these guidelines to make sure your resume gets you noticed. Be sure to include these basics: - Contact information: Full name, phone number, school and permanent addresses, email address. - Education: School, degree, date of completion, honors, special course work. If you’re still in school, provide your expected date of completion. - Experience: In addition to work history, include relevant non-professional experience, such as internships, extracurricular activities and significant volunteer work. - Skills: List any computer systems, office equipment and software programs you are experienced with. Other categories: If they are relevant, include publications, awards, leadership positions or other notable achievements. The two most popular formats are: 1. Chronological: To emphasize your work history; list your jobs and activities, beginning with your most recent experiences. 2. Functional: To emphasize your skill sets; group your experiences under categorical headings, such as Leadership or Technology Support. The key is to pick a format that presents your achievements effectively, and is easy to read and comprehend. See below for samples of a number of resume formats. Tips for a Winning Resume: • Keep it brief. Try to keep your resume to one page. There are cases where a resume might be longer but one page should suffice for students and recent graduates. Write lean sentences and use bullet points to be succinct. • Provide meaningful descriptions of your experiences. When detailing your job history, use short sentences or fragments to demonstrate your relevant experience. • Use strong action words. For example: “developed and implemented a new filing system”; “created two new membership programs.” • Use formatting to help you out. Capitalize and use boldface, italics or underlining to help organize the information. • Proofread. Use spell-check, double-check your contact information and make sure your formatting is consistent. Ask a friend or family member to proofread it as well. Check for errors that spell-check programs miss (i.e. there vs. their; to, too or two). • Custom fit your resume. Revise your resume for each job application to make sure it fits the opportunity at hand. The final test: Take a look at your resume from arm’s distance. Is it confusing and textheavy? Or is it easy to find the information you need? Do whatever is needed to make your resume reader friendly.

The Differences between Stocks & Bonds Many people don’t understand the differences between stocks and bonds. It occurred to me recently that even those who invest in these types of securities through either personal investment accounts or retirement plans can’t really articulate what the differences are. I’ve noticed that people have a general idea- such as associating stocks more with risk and bonds more with safety, but that’s about the extent of it. While both are types of investments which can earn you money, they are different as night and day in terms of the potential risks and rewards. When you buy a share of stock, you are actually taking ownership in the company in which
you are investing. For example, consider the hypothetical example of Russell’s Fast Food Palace If it was a publicly traded company divided into 1 million shares and you bought 1,000 of them, you’d be a .001% shareholder of the Fast Food Palace. As a result, you’d share in both the profits and losses of the company throughout the years. You’d probably want to pay attention to news that affects both the Fast Food market and the economy in general. One of the potential risks in buying 1,000 shares of the Fast Food Palace is that it will experience some sort of problem, such as people realizing fast food is very unhealthy.
If this news was publicized enough, less people might come into the stores. This could potentially decrease the company’s revenues and, ultimately, the stock price would decline. The opposite would be if my food became so popular that every airport in the United States decided to put a Fast Food Palace inside. This would be incredible news for shareholders because it would generate much more foot traffic, higher revenues, and higher profits. A bond does not
Analyzing Stocks, Bonds, Franchise, & Mutual Funds
represent ownership in a corporation. Let’s say Russell’s Food Palace wanted to raise money to open 10 more stores, but they didn’t want to divide up the company any further. They might sell bonds instead of issuing stock. Rather than owning a piece of the company, the bondholder becomes a creditor of Russell’s Food Palace who will be paid back over the life of the bond. The difference is that the return you will earn on your money as a bondholder is generally a fixed percentage such as 5% or 7%
annually. If the bond lasts for 10 years, you will get interest each year for the 10 years, and then your principal investment returned to you at expiration date. If you buy a bond from a small, risky company, there is the possibility that the company will go under and you’ll never see some of your interest payments or principal investment ever again. This is rare however, and it’s more likely, in the short term, to lose money in the stock market than the bond market. Which is better investment?
Well, it totally depends on where you are in life and what your tolerance for risk is. I’d rather own something for a period of years in hope for growth, then lend somebody $20 and know I’m getting $25 back in 5 years. Thus, I would probably consider myself more of a stock investor. However, the bondholder may very well feel safer and more secure with his/ her investment choice. The ideal long-term portfolio would probably have a little bit of each.
Judicial & Social Politics
Chicago’s Black Population Drops to Third in Nation; Atlanta Now Second In one of the greatest domestic population shifts in American history, African Americans poured out of the South in the early 20th century. The so-called “Great Migration” brought millions of southern blacks to areas across the country, including hundreds of thousands who came to Chicago. The city’s South Side quickly became the black capital of the United States. 18
Now, according to a new report, that same trend is operating in reverse. “The State of Metropolitan America,” compiled by the Brookings Institute, shows that Chicago has been surpassed by Atlanta, Georgia as the city with the second-largest black population in America. The New York metro area has by far the largest number of African-Americans --
Judicial & Social Politics over 3 million, almost as many as Chicago and Atlanta combined. But Atlanta’s gains are all the more striking when put into context. The tri-state Chicago metropolitan area has nearly 10,000,000 residents; the area around Atlanta is roughly 6,000,000. And as recently as 1990, it ranked only seventh nationally in the size of its African American population. While Atlanta’s influx of 446,000 new black residents in the last decade is by far the greatest in the country, many other southern cities also saw their African-American populations rise. Dallas and Houston gained more than 100,000 black citizens each; Miami, Charlotte, Phoenix and Tampa also saw significant upticks. The report highlights a distinction between the economically depressed states of the Deep South and the burgeoning areas of economic development: In the early 1970s, African Americans began to follow white population into the South. Since then, and especially during the 1990s, black movement to the South has become substantial. It has occurred less in historic “Old South” states such as Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, and more in “New South” growth centers such as Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Nine of the top 10 metro areas for black population gains from 2000 to 2008 are located in the South,
including the three “New South” areas of Charlotte, Orlando, and Tampa. These regions are attracting highly-educated African Americans, including those from northern destinations. Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and Dallas rank sixth, ninth, and 25th, respectively, on the number of black adults with a bachelor’s degree, whereas Philadelphia and Detroit rank, respectively, 59th and 79th. Also of interest in the report: Chicago is not one of the 17 large metropolitan areas with a majority-minority population. But more than half of Chicago’s children, under the age of 18, are minorities, indicating that the city will become more diverse as this generation’s children grow up. That diversity comes in large part from Chicago’s sizable Hispanic population. The report lists Chicago as having the 5th-most Hispanics in the country, behind Los Angeles, New York, Miami and Houston. Chicago is also No. 5 on the list of Asian populations, with over 500,000 citizens of Asian descent living in the city.

Cornell “The Ghost” Jones Drug kingpin Jones’ family moved to the Georgetown area of Washington, D.C., during the 1940s. Living in the low-income Hanover Place housing projects, Jones’ father tried to support the family as a brick-layer. Money was short in the Jones household, however, and Cornell frequently got by through hustling on the streets. His illegal behavior often got him into trouble at school, and at the local boys club. At the age of 16, Jones staged his first largescale crime—robbing the Army - Navy Bank only blocks away from the Pentagon. During the police chase afterward, Jones and his associates parked their stolen car in front of the Justice Center in D.C. Police did not catch the criminals, which bolstered the boys’ confidence. Jones and his friends began planning more heists while still attending high school,
bringing in enough cash to get themselves cars, clothes, and jewelry. At age 17, Jones’ suspicious wealth made him a target for a police investigation, and he was arrested and sent to juvenile detention for his crimes. Upon his release from prison in 1975, Jones returned to Hanover with close connections to the drug trade and a plan. Using suppliers from Thailand and Amsterdam, Jones was able to get a cheap supply of drugs funneled into his Hanover neighborhood. The money he made trafficking cocaine, heroin, PCP, and crack was used to not only give Jones a lavish lifestyle, but to help the members of his community. Cornell frequently made sure children in the community had shoes, or that neighbors could pay their rent. He also used his funds to help children in the boy’s club, specifically aspiring athletes. With Jones’ financial support, many basketball players were sent to private Catholic schools, given new basketballs and uniforms, and even provided with college assistance. Jones’ business wasn’t entirely compassionate; his money was made. cont. next page
Cornell “The Ghost” Jones munity he was also helping. Not only was he cultivating his clients’ tastes for certain drugs, but he also began mixing new ones. In the mid1970s, Jones and his crew discovered a method for mixing PCP and marijuana that earned the nickname “butt naked” for its tendency to “inspire” its users to strip out of their clothes. Also called “love boat,” the drug frequently caused hallucinations and had violent results—users engaged in self-harm or harm to others while under its influence. The wildly popular drug had to be created by the oil drum to satisfy the new influx of clients. In 1979 Jones was arrested for heroin possession, for which he spent two years in prison. By the time he was released from prison, Jones had made enough connections to become a supplier for other dealers. He set up outlets all over the world, and then used them to regularly ship large quantities of product to Hanover Place. Jones’ wide variety of drug offerings—known for their high quality and generous amounts—helped to create the first “open air” drug market in the country. Lines of users and dealers looking for fair prices often wrapped around the block, and Jones frequently spent $200,000 a week employing soldiers and lieutenants to keep his 24hour a day franchise going. By the mid-1980s, Jones started using his illgotten gains to purchase legitimate businesses, including real estate and nightclubs. He had also assembled a management company that handled his purchases. The excess of wealth gained the attention of authorities, who set up a sting operation. On October 29, 1985, Jones met with a dealer, who was actually a wired informant. He was charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess. Search warrants revealed the rest of his crimes, including millions of dollars in illegal assets. Jones negotiated a deal of nine to 27 years in prison in 1986, and was sent to Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas. He was released in 1995, and began work at a family business in his Hanover neighborhood. He currently volunteers work at the nonprofit Miracle Hands, which helps rehabilitate ex-cons.

In the Tech World, Porn Quietly Leads the Way
It was just days after the release of the iPad -- Apple’s slate computer heralded as a tool for gaming, book and magazine reading and Web consumption -- when the announcement arrived. One of the world’s biggest porn companies claimed it had created a way to stream its videos onto the device, skipping the Apple store and its restrictions on salacious content. The announcement illustrates a widely acknowledged but seldom-spoken truth of the technology world: Whenever there’s a new content platform, the adult-entertainment industry is one of the first to adopt it -- if they didn’t help create it in the first place. “It’s not necessarily that the porn industry comes up with the ideas, but there’s a huge difference in any technology between the idea and the successful application,” said Jonathan Coopersmith, a professor at Texas A&M
University who teaches the history of technology. “They’re kind of the shock troops, and one of the nice things for them is that they can claim, ‘Hey, I’m advancing technology.’ “ While the shadowy nature of the adult-entertainment industry makes exact figures hard to nail down, it’s generally acknowledged that porn was the first product to make money on the Internet and still rakes in upward of $1 billion annually online. [Although porn, like many industries, has felt the pinch of the last couple year’s recession, leading Hustler’s Larry Flynt and others to jokingly ask for a federal bailout]. From the printing press to instant cameras, from pay-per-view to VCRs, pornographers -- both professional and private -- have been among the quickest to jump on board with newly developed gadgets. The first public screening of a movie was in 1895. Less than two years later, Coopersmith notes, the first “adult” film was released. “The classic example is the VCR,” said Oliver Marc Hartwich, an economist and senior fellow with Centre for Independent Studies, a conservative Australian think tank. “When it was introduced, Hollywood was nervous because the big studios feared piracy. They were even considering suing the VCR producers. “Not so the adult industry. They saw it as a big new market and seized the opportunity.” On the internet, streaming video, credit-card verification sites, Web referral rings and video technology like Flash all can be traced back to innovations designed to share, and sell, adult content. Experts attribute much of the success of AOL, the social networking forbearer of sites like Facebook and Twitter, to its private chat rooms -- and anyone who remembers scanning the user-created chats remembers the adults-only nature of many of them. Websites that require memberships, encryption coding, speedier file-sharing technology -- all can trace their roots back to the adult industry. These days, in addition to the race for the iPad screen, at least a couple of porn flicks cont. on page 47 ...
Mind & Body (Health & Fitness) Food For Thought - HeartBurn Heartburn is actually a simple term describing a set of symptoms provoked by the fact that the acid found in the stomach for digesting food is coming up on the esophagus and it causes a burning sensation behind the breastbone. While there are people who barely experience heartburn once or twice in their life, there are others who are frequently tormented by it. Doctors and specialists are constantly giving advice on the precaution measures that need to be taken in order to stay away from heartburn. Nevertheless, a lot of people are still affected and home remedies for heartburn seem like the only solution for them. Antacids are widely used on the territory of United States, but what if you have run out of antacids and need some fast relief from heartburn? Ginger and papaya are well-known home remedies for heart burn. An enzyme contained by papaya is doing wonders. It can be found in chewable capsules that need to be taken before eating. Ginger capsules also have to be administered before meals. If you already ate and now you are faced with the symptoms of heartburn, there still are some efficient home remedies. If the symptoms are not very strong, try to drink a glass of water. It might clean the esophagus from the excess acid. However, drinking up to eight glasses of water a day is highly recommended in preventing heartburn. If symptoms are not mild at all, drink aloe juice or chamomile tea. Pay attention to the aloe juice, because if you make it directly from the plant, it will contain some laxative substances which are not actually recommended.
Try drinking aloe juice especially made for internal used and available on the market. For best results, drink it half an hour before eating. Among other home remedies for heartburn is apple cider vinegar. Mix a tablespoon of vinegar with half a glass of water and then drink it. When feeling the burning sensation caused by the acid in your stomach, you probably think that ingesting vinegar, which is also acid, is not the best solution. However, there are various types of acids and it seems that vinegar is a “good” type. Home remedies for heartburn are indeed effective, but it’s better to prevent than to treat. Don’t forget about eating the right foods, about avoiding the foods and drinks that trigger heartburn and about the fact that smoking, be it active or passive, also causes heartburn. Also avoid eating before going to bed and avoid overeating.
Mind & Body (Health & Fitness)
Mind & Body (Health & Fitness) How To Treat Hypertension With pressure and living a stressful life, people become prone to hypertension. It is a condition where the blood pressure shoots up. Water and salt intake, levels of different body hormones or conditions of the kidney, nervous system and blood vessels affect blood pressure. This condition is commonly referred to as hypertension. It is often caused by a medical condition like diabetes, asthma or kidney disorders. Habits like alcohol abuse can also cause hypertension. Some medications we take like appetite suppressants, corticosteroids, and drugs for migraine may also cause hypertension. Most often there are no symptoms. If you are having chest pain, confusion, ear buzzing, irregular heartbeat, nosebleeds, tiredness and vision changes very likely you are suffering from hypertension. Severe headache should also cause alarm, as this may be a sign that you are suffering from malignant hypertension. You may have it without your knowledge, but it may cause severe damage to your body unless it is detected soon. When blood pressure elevates, it starts to damage your blood vessels, heart, brain, eyes and kidneys. Hypertension is often treated with expensive prescription medications that bring about severe side effects. Since it is brought about by stress and unhealthy diet, it is possible that it can be cured naturally. Here are some ways how to treat hypertension the natural way: 1. Adopt a more relaxed lifestyle. Hypertension is caused by too much stress. You have to learn to deal with your stress and pressures so that you can be more relaxed. 2. Have a healthy diet that includes a lot of raw vegetables, fresh fruits, garlic, soy, onions, whole grains, olive oil, nuts, seeds, and fish. Raw vegetables and fresh fruits are the best sources of vitamin C, and they contain potassium and loads of soluble fiber, which helps reduce high blood pressure. Garlic contains adenosine, which works as a muscle relaxant and aids in vasodilatation. It
helps open the blood vessels,
preventing blood clots and lowering blood pressure. Fish such as halibut, salmon, sardines and tuna are rich in omega 3 fatty acid, which also helps reduce hypertension. 3. Avoid too much intake of salt, sugar, fried foods, processed foods and caffeine. Eat foods rich in potassium like bananas, potatoes, tomatoes, skimmed milk, oranges, watermelon, soya beans, almonds and spinach. 4. Calcium intake helps regulate the heart’s muscle contractions. This helps you manage your blood pressure. 5. Eat hawthorn berries, as they strengthen the pumping ability of the heart, help dilate the blood vessels and protect the arterial walls. 6. As much as possible your daily water intake should be equal to at least 8 glasses. Water flushes out waste products and toxins from your body. 7. Do workouts regularly to trim down or maintain your ideal weight. Stress relieving exercises like yoga can help prevent hypertension. 8. Take green tea every day. It can help prevent and reduce hypertension, because it increases the levels of good cholesterol in the blood, which helps eliminate plaque formation on the arterial walls. 9. Cut down on your alcohol intake. A healthy and stress free lifestyle brings us more benefits than harm. It enables us to move around relaxed and keeps our blood pressure under control. Hypertension is the end effect of unhealthy and reckless living. http://www.howtodothings.com/health-fitness/how-to-treat-hypertension-naturally

How To: Live Large On a Budget By Stephanie Eldred
Every guy wants to live the high life, but not everyone has the paycheck to make it possible. It can be hard to keep up with the lifestyles of the rich and famous, but there are definitely ways to cut corners on expenses and still reap the rewards of being the envy of all your friends. That’s right: The finer things in life aren’t just for jet-setters anymore. The key to living a classier lifestyle -- or at least looking like you do -- isn’t having more money, it’s using the money you do have to its full potential. The saying goes that nothing comes for free, and for the most part, that is a motto to live by, but money isn’t the only currency you have. Your relationships and your time are great bargaining chips to help you score things that other people are paying for. Work your connections or barter with your friends for entrance into exclusive events and concerts, and to snatch up free merchandise. Keep your eyes open for free tickets and product giveaways at your place of work or through contests -- even if you aren’t interested, you might know someone who is, and that someone might be able to offer up something in return.
Many will dole out free invites to fundraising events that cost big bucks to attend and often feature door prizes, raffles, big-ticket entertainment or gift bags from sponsor companies. But of course, not everything can be had for free; there are some things you have to pay for no matter what. The goal is to spend as little as possible without sacrificing the style and quality of life you desire. Keep reading for a guide to luxury living for less that will help you fake it until you get finally get that raise. Leisure You can sink a lot of money into entertainment if you aren’t careful. Lucky for you, nightlife, entertaining and vacations are the easiest aspects of the jet-set life to upgrade for very little money -- if you use a little creativity. Nightlife Just because you don’t make a six-figure salary and aren’t intimately acquainted with the finer points of a $500 bottle of champagne doesn’t mean you can’t hit the town in style. Planning a night on the town? Invite your friends over for a few drinks to get your night started. Instead of dropping your hard-earned cash on $15 martinis at the bar, why not drink the good stuff at home before heading out? By pooling your cash and investing in a few finer bottles for consumption in the privacy of your own home, you and your friends can indulge your palates without an expensive bar tab. Having a few fancy drinks at home makes it easier to pace your drinking later in the night and allows you to opt for cheaper drinks when you’re out to stretch your cash even further -say, to buy a drink for that cute girl at the end

Suave & Tailored How To: Live Large On A Budget - cont. from page 37 By investing in a good cookbook and some tableware to display your creations, you can recreate gourmet meals at home for impressionable dates and friends. The added bonus is that women can’t resist a man in the kitchen. If cooking isn’t your thing, why not just be the host? Invite your guests over for a gourmet potluck dinner. Most people rise to the occasion and go all-out to impress the other guests -- this means top-notch nosh for everyone and little-to-no cost for you. Not interested in dinners? Cocktail parties can set you back just as much as a fancy restaurant meal if you try to cater to everyone’s tastes and impress with a great alcohol selection. Keep your costs down by nixing the fully-stocked bar and sticking to one or two specialty drinks. The bonus of hosting an evening party is that not many revelers arrive empty-handed, so you might end up with leftovers for your own private stash at the end of the night. Vacations It seems that people with cash are always jetting off to the hottest destinations in the world. Who doesn’t like to regale friends and acquaintances with tales of exotic trips and getaways? Travel is one of the most popular topics of idle chitchat, and confessing that your latest vacation was spent on a budget package tour isn’t going to impress anyone. Your first plan of attack for a low-cost vacation should be to make a list of your out-oftown friends and relatives to sass out possible destinations. If any appeal to you, you can score a free place to crash if you play your cards right. If your options on that front are limited to less-than-desirable locales, your next best bet for hitting dream destinations is to forsake the overpriced big-name hotels in favor of a rental. If you’re traveling with a group, renting a condo or a house in the city of your choice can be a steal; there are generally
plenty of options in popular tourist cities and major metropolitan areas. Giving up the room service and spa facilities will leave you extra cash for other parts of your trip. If you aren’t quite ready to fend for yourself on vacation, being flexible with your travel dates and destinations can score you great last-minute flights and hotel deals. Browse budget travel websites and the travel section of your local newspaper -- most advertise trips that are slated to leave in the following two weeks and offer huge discounts on the few spots still available. If you keep your eyes open, you might end up vacationing alongside travelers who paid top dollar, while you scoop up an identical itinerary and room for half the price. Because booking last-minute will leave you with little choice regarding your destination and how you get there, sign up for every possible loyalty program to get the most out of this type of traveling. Members of airline and hotel loyalty programs are usually privy to discounts and specials that aren’t available to the masses; this means that you could score an even better deal. On the day of your flight, arrive at the airport early, be well-dressed and act confident -this can be enough to score you an upgrade on an under-booked flight. Flying first class is an experience that everyone can enjoy -- who doesn’t love champagne and caviar? Necessities There are some expenses in life that are a given, such as your home, your gadgets and your clothes. The good news is that there are ways to live like a king without breaking the bank. Home Not everyone can live in a palatial mansion, but with a little effort, nearly every home can look like a million bucks. cont. on page 48

Try the Hong Kong Experience Why it’s a Bargain: This city has always been Western-friendly in terms of culture, and with its dollar and the Chinese Yuan both loosely tied to the U.S. dollar, it’s economically friendly too. Where to Stay: Overlooking the South China Sea, Hong Kong Island’s Le Meridian Cyberport has that oh-so-Hong Kong mix of elegance and techno-hipness, with rates starting at about $200 a night. If you crave those stunning harbor-and-skyline views, the Peninsula—known for its cool airport transfers—offers a “Value Experience” package that starts at $410 a night, which includes a daily fruit basket as well as breakfast for two every morning in its aristocrat-worthy lobby. What to Buy: You’ll roll your eyes at tea bags once you’ve sampled good Chinese tea here, made from loose leaves or hockey-puck-like cakes. Tea salons here offer tastings the way wineries do in Napa, but the prices are better. You can bring home a flavorful green, oolong, or pu-erh tea for less than $10. 40

A Great Shooter to Impress the Ladies Reviewer: Don Edwardo
There’s nothing more impressive to the ladies than ordering a rather expensive shot of the Don Julio 1942 Tequila. The elegant presentation of the bottle and it’s slender, yet masculine features quickly let members of the opposite sex know that you are not a man to be trifled with. My buddy and I did a double-shooter with three women. I’ve never experienced a shot go down so smooth. I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t savor the initial taste as I thought it would be similar to many of the less-premium Agave brands out there. Boy was I wrong! The burn going down was minimal and there was no need to chase the shot with a lime or a chaser. I think I caught a hint of green apple and vanilla. The hidden beauty here though is the fact that the three ladies we bought the shots for found us a bit more “attractive” than earlier. I think it was more from the size of the bar tab though than the effect from the alcohol - at least, that’s what we hope. I’d recommend trying a shot of 1942 to any guy out there that is looking to impress the ladies! Definitely seals the deal! THANK YOU DON JULIO!!!

Learn from a Woman the Tricks to Have Casual Sex
When a man wants to have sex he looks for a one night stand. He doesn’t want a love relationship, or a friendship, he wants sex without strains, a night of passion that ends in the morning without promises of repetition. The word commitment is one of the scariest in men’s vocabulary, and it is all they want to avoid when they are looking for a sex encounter. Some women like one night stands as well. Many women want to have sexual release without initiating a relationship, and they go for it, visiting bar and clubs and hooking up with men they find attractive. But not all men know how to approach women when they pursue a one night stand; they have some misconceptions that make difficult the right communication between men and women, and impossible the sexual enjoyment. Here is some advice to make easier for men to approach women and have a one night stand:
-Know yourself and think about what it is about you that women would consider attractive. A thoughtful self examination will reveal to you your strengths and weaknesses, and you will be prepared for any contingence. -Be prepared; groom yourself, pamper your body before you go out, and choose clothes that you consider make you attractive. When you feel attractive you are more confident, and women detect and like confidence in men. -Do not be a whiner; women like confident guys, and the role of the poor lonely man is not attractive. Women, like men, don’t want to deal with other’s problems when they are out to have fun. Be fun and find light conversations that make easier to get more intimate.

Learn from a Woman the Tricks to Have Casual Sex - cont. from prev page -Be cocky, but only if you have a reason to be, and with moderation. Again, you have to know yourself; a naturally attractive guy can be, and must be, cocky and a little arrogant to peak a women’s interest. But if you are not that kind of guy, find your strength somewhere else, like in your good smile, your sexy eyes or nice conversation, and be confident about that. Your approach to women must be natural, using your own and real qualities to impress the girls. Pretending to be someone else normally doesn’t work, because women are smart and they will detect the façade before is time to go to bed. -Avoid stereotypes and things that you learn in the movies, because women probably watched the same movies and hate the stereotypes you are using. The old approaches don’t work anymore. -Be realistic; check out the girl you sexually want. Make an initial move locking eyes and smiling. If she doesn’t respond, maybe it is not because she is blind and still didn’t notice you, don’t keep trying it. Some women would like you and others don’t, it is how it works, but being insisting when you are receiving negative signals is pathetic, and it will scare other possibilities that may be checking you out. -Always be a gentleman; you can be attractive and sexy as hell, and you can be cocky and arrogant, but do not burp in front of a prospective one night stand. The mix between sexiness and good manners is irresistible, because it shows that the man is smart and skilled enough to perform good sexually as well. Men have to forget the idea that they have to work harder to have one night stands. A woman can have casual sex whenever they want, but not with whomever they want. So the hard work is for both sides, and the best ways to accomplish the result, a good casual sex encounter, is being honest, well mannered and have fun.
Is Flirting Another Form of Cheating? When Flirting Becomes Too Much
Trying to define what most people would consider flirting can be extremely difficult. The definition of the very word, flirt, seems to contradict itself in that it can mean both with serious (romantic) intent or one of only a casual or superficial nature. Faced with this rather perplexing problem the best way to determine whether or not you or perhaps a partner might be flirting would be to discuss the topic when you have the chance and set boundaries if you may need them in your relationship. When looking at this from an outside point of view, as perhaps a friend of a couple might, it can be almost impossible to know precisely what the couple has agreed upon. While one couple may have very clear cut acts that they agree would be considered a form of cheating, another couple may feel more comfortable with a fluid, general understanding of what cheating might be. Though there are many gray areas when it comes to flirting, there is little doubt that it can cause some serious problems in a relationship. In many cases one or both members of a couple will not know exactly how they feel about their partner flirting with another person until they witness the act and find themselves in a jealous rage. Because the outcome of such deep and unpredictable emotions can be so dangerous for a relationship it is often important to discuss these matters before they come up when possible. One of the most important things that you can do, when discussing the issue of flirtation with your partner, is to be honest about how you feel. Noble though it may be to fight back jealousy it is often a mistake to overlook it completely. Working on any overly jealous habits you may have is a very constructive move; however the complete denial of it will probably lead to more problems in the future. When discussing jealousy with your partner it may help to keep a few tips in mind: • Be sure to discuss anything important in comfortable, safe place where you can both
speak freely. • Do not have any important conversations if either you or your partner is intoxicated or tired unless you absolutely must. • If your partner experiences difficulty with sharing try to share some of your own confidence with them by ensuring that you are there for them. • Try to be as honest about your feelings as you can be, let go of your pride. • Encourage your partner to share with you and to trust that you will try to be understanding about what they have to say. • Set boundaries that you both feel comfortable with when it comes to flirting. • If you are able to and believe that it may help get your point across, try to remember specific examples of a time that either you or your partner felt jealous. Pride is often what prevents many people from disclosing their true feelings. To admit that you are jealous of your partner flirting with another person does send some very important signals out about how you feel. Opening up with your partner enough to set aside your pride may not be easy, but it may help to create a much stronger tie between you both in the long run. Some people have difficulty understanding why others get upset about flirtatious behavior. If you are of this opinion, or are dealing with a person who feels this way, it may help to keep in mind some of the most common secondary reactions to the jealousy that can be caused by flirting: • Unloved: Wondering if your partner doesn’t care for you as much as you do them. • Inadequate: Because your partner is looking for affection elsewhere are you not enough? • Unattractive: Wondering whether or not your partner is no longer attracted to you. • Deceived: Concerned that your partner maybe doing more than flirting behind your back. • Betrayed: Watching your partner pay very close, attention to a person with who in theory they could be romantically involved may stir up some deep feelings of being crossed.

Building SelfConfidence THREATS TO SELF-CONFIDENCE Threats to your self-confidence can be felt in almost any challenging circumstance, from reading the bus schedule to getting fired. Different men are susceptible to diminished self-confidence on account of different causes. While losing the pick-up football game made your neighbor question his physical condition, it didn’t bother you nearly as much as failing to impress your boss at today’s meeting. The truth is that self-confidence can be attacked by almost anything. Of course, there are common culprits. We each want to be the ideal man for our woman, so we struggle to be financially independent, physically healthy, intelligent, dependable, and have a strong character. If any of these issues have been wearing away at your manhood lately, take a deep breath and realize that we all have the same thoughts; there’s nothing wrong with you. 1. Surround yourself with good people Make it a point to socialize with people that you share a mutual respect, and who are able to put you in the limelight during conversations. Friendship is a fundamental boost to the self-confidence of both parties. When your pal is quick to recognize that you’re a cool cat, you’ll notice it too. 2. Be well-rounded Maintain interest and skill in all aspects of your life. In other words, don’t neglect your model-building hobby, your public-speaking voice or your lawn-maintenance schedule. Meanwhile, don’t let your job absorb all of your free time, and make sure your new partner doesn’t keep you away from your other passions. To maintain a maximized level of self-confidence, you want all of your personal qualities to be exercised as often as possible.
3. Keep up with the world Follow the news and do your best to know a little bit about everything. Learn something new every day, and make a point of having an opinion on things, from current events to long-term political issues. This way, you won’t feel completely out of touch when you encounter old friends or new acquaintances. 4. Socialize with everyone The bank teller, the bus driver, your doctor’s secretary; it is beneficial to strike up a conversation with anyone who crosses your path. Sharpen your social skills and this will make you more sociable and confident with people, especially strangers. As a result, you won’t feel threatened or insecure in unfamiliar situations. 5. Partake in things you excel at Are you currently a bit overweight, but used to be a star point guard? Then stop avoiding the neighborhood pickup game and show them what you’re made of. You will, more importantly, show yourself what you’re made of and build your self-confidence. Even if you have to go out of your way, doing something that you know how to do well will boost your conviction and self-confidence when you do something else. MAKE IT ALL HAPPEN We all need to boost our self-confidence in different ways and for different reasons. The trick is to find out where you need to improve and then go out and do just that. When you have self-confidence and faith in yourself, life makes more sense and it becomes something you can tackle. So take the bull by the horns -- the bull is you.

In the Tech World, Porn Quietly Leads the Way
are in production using burgeoning 3-D technology. While Hollywood has scored with a few blockbusters, 3-D tech for the television is still in its infancy -- and porn, as always, is right there to capitalize. “Just imagine that you’ll be watching it as if you were sitting beside the bed,” Hong Kong-based producer Stephen Shiu Jr. said of his movie, “3D Zen and Sex,” which is set to begin filming this month with a budget of nearly $4 million. “There will be many close-ups. It will look as if the actresses are only a few centimeters from the audience.” For adult-entertainment companies, staying on the cutting edge of technology can be necessary to survive. Ilan Bunimovitz is the CEO of Private Media Group, the company that announced the iPad porn offering, which uses cloud computing to store a customer’s videos. In effect, he’s saying it’s like an iTunes for porn -- an online service that lets users buy and access a personal collection of adult videos via their iPads. Of course, the slate computer’s browser can already be used to surf the internet for adult content. He said his company, with its 25-member technology department, began working on ways to take advantage of the iPad the day it was announced in January. By the time Apple released the device in early April, the system was ready, he said. “Every step of the way, when there’s a new technology, we explore it,” said Bunimovitz.
“In the adult business, many times the traditional venues are not available to us, so we have to be innovative to get our content to the consumer. “With adult content, you need to create your own solutions.” Porn companies can capitalize on the latest technological advances because of their deep pockets and the relative certainty that their investments will be returned by customers willing to pony up for their product, experts say. “People are willing to pay a premium for pornography,” said Coopersmith, the Texas A&M professor. “You see this with movies, with VCRs -- which is when it first really became noticeable. DVDs, computer games, cable TV -- if you look at the price of those [adult] products, they’re higher profit margins for the vendors.” That fact creates a conundrum for product developers. Often, any new product’s pornographic potential remains a dirty little secret -- privately discussed by the manufacturer but left unspoken in public.
Suave & Tailored How To: Live Large On A Budget - cont. from page 38 The biggest expense in any home-renovation project is the labor. Instead of hiring a contractor or decorator, get great materials and do the work yourself. Do-it-yourself projects don’t have to be limited to slapping paint on the walls, either; you can upgrade your kitchen with luxurious granite countertops or refine your living room with striking hardwood flooring. If you rent or aren’t at liberty to do major work on your place, you can still up the luxury ante with furnishings. Coffee tables built with empty beer cases won’t score you style points -- but you won’t have to break the bank to get some great stuff in your house. Go to showrooms that feature the style of furniture you like, even the stuff that is out of your price range, and look into buying pieces off the showroom floor. Most stores will give you great discounts on slightly used display models. Also, keep an eye out for estate sales and auctions in your area; they are perfect places to pick up used furnishings that are much nicer than yard sale merchandise and still won’t break the bank. Now that you have furniture, you’ll need to add the finishing touches. To truly look like you’re living large, you must break away from the poster decor of your college days and join the realm of wealthy art collectors by decorating your place with original art. Poking around local galleries, art fairs and student shows will allow you to pick up relatively inexpensive works by unknown artists, and give you the perfect opportunity to impress visitors with your support of the arts. Paintings and sculptures are also great investments; you never know which fledgling artist will hit it big, so your modest collection might give you even more bang for your buck in the long run. Gadgets It seems almost impossible to keep up with the latest incarnations of all the must-have gadgets in a world that is increasingly dependent on technology. Companies keep releasing new and improved versions of cell phones, computers, digital audio devices, and cameras to entice people into dropping major cash. The great news is that as soon as new models come out, the earlier versions -- which are generally only slightly less capable -- automatically drop in price. However, if you are the type that needs the latest gadgets, look for multi-purpose devices. Save yourself a bundle by picking up a cell phone that has a built-in MP3 player and digital camera rather than buying all three
separately. Clothes Dropping a bundle on clothes can be pretty easy given that the styles change every season and the hot designer brands keep getting more expensive. But you don’t have to resort to thriftstore clothes just because you can’t afford all the latest stuff. Designer clothing has an enormous in-store markup, so avoid paying regular retail prices at all costs. Shopping off-season -- buying your great winter coat in March, for instance -- and going to sample sales are great ways to score designer items at low prices. The clothing and the quality are the same, but by timing it right, you can snatch up the leftover items for a steal. Most designer brands also have outlet stores or agreements with discount chains that sell their leftovers at the end of each season, giving you the opportunity to get in on designer clothes for a lot less than retail price. You may miss out on the luxuries of well-displayed items and size variety, but the savings that can be had will make the effort well worth it. On a budget, there is no way to fill your entire closet with designer goods, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still look sharp. Your designer duds should all be high-quality classic pieces that are worth the price and will last for years: A wool pea coat or classic trench, a tuxedo, a classic suit, great shoes, fine-knit sweaters, and classic ties will never go out of style and are the pieces that people will notice. Fortunately, you can fill out the rest of your wardrobe with trendy pieces and accent items from mid-range brands without sacrificing your overall look. Even the most inexpensive clothing will look exponentially better if you take the time to have it tailored. Experienced tailors can make any item fit you perfectly, which is the key to making your clothes look expensive even when they aren’t. One thing to keep in mind is that, expensive or not, keeping your clothing in good condition is more important than the label on the inside -scuffed Hugo Boss loafers aren’t going to do you any favors. Live Large Living on a budget shouldn’t mean sacrificing style and good times; with a few tweaks, even the smallest salary can get a little extra mileage. Smart shopping wins out over big spending every time -- you don’t have to max out your credit card to look like a star.
