Visionary Women, a nonprofit organization dedicated to harnessing women’s leadership, kicked off the 2016 salon series with “The Stories You Haven’t Heard: Modern Day Slavery in America and Abroad,” sponsored by VHERNIER. “Visionary Women salons are designed to shed light on important issues in our world by inviting today’s most accomplished and inspired speakers to engage in dynamic, insightful discussions,” said Angella Nazarian, best-selling author and founder of Visionary Women. “Sex trafficking and slavery in the U.S. and abroad is an unfortunate reality of the modern world, and one that this panel will illuminate in an effort to end it.” TV host Thea Andrews moderated the panel discussion featuring Ambassador Swanee Hunt, Ruchira Gupta, and Withelma “T” Ortiz Walker Pettigrew, one of TIME magazine’s 2014 most influential people in the world. “When we learned about Visionary Women and the forum they were creating for women in leadership to connect and inspire change, we were eager to get involved,” said Cristiana Viganò, Head of Communication and PR at VHERNIER. “We support causes we believe in, and are honored to partner with Visionary Women to help host this meaningful salon on the topic of modern-day human slavery.” Visionary Women salons are held two to four times a year.
