Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you: – 1 Peter 4:12 (KJV) Some people like to say, “Praise the Lord! You have confessed Jesus as Lord. Now everything is going to get better and better for you.” How far from the truth! There is a battle being waged each and every day for the souls of people. When the enemy has a person locked in sin and not living for God, there is no fight. The enemy can go and tend to other areas of the battlefield while people self-inflict themselves with death through sin. It is when a person gives their life to God in Christ Jesus that the battle truly begins. Have you given your heart and life to Jesus Christ? Get ready! The battle is now on for your soul. Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial that is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you. Suddenly, people will take offense at everything you say. Out of nowhere, long time friends will become your enemies. Family will not be able to carry on a peaceable conversation with you. Seemingly, all hell will break loose in your life. But you will have peace in your heart. That's the peace that Jesus brings. He doesn't always make everything sweet and soft and comfy on the outside. Our hope is not in this world. Jesus gives us the peace that passes all understanding – the kind of peace that gives us stability and joy even when our entire world is in chaos around us. This is the kind of peace that allowed Jesus to proclaim from the cross, about those who beat Him unrecognizable and drove iron nails through His hands and feet, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” Are you being tried? Are you being true to Jesus? Is trouble coming your way? Praise the Lord! Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial that is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you. You have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior. You are letting Him rule over your thoughts and decisions. You are not chasing sin any longer, but now striving against it. The battle is on! You are alive! Praise the Lord! Jesus is calling disciples who will fight the good fight and run the good race. He is not calling pewwarmers. He is calling over-comers, not victims. Jesus is calling the courageous, not cowards. Jesus is calling you. Jesus is calling your name right this very moment. There is a battle being waged for your soul and the Lord wants you to be the champion of that battle. Will you answer His call? Jesus is calling your name. What are you going to do?
Troubles, trials, strange sufferings coming your way? Don't be perplexed. There is hope . . .
