Monzel Report The

Hamilton County Commissioner Chris Monzel

January 2013

2013 Brings New Challenges and Opportunities Hamilton County Commissioners will be considering a number of important fiscal and operational issues as the commission resumes its regular 2013 meeting schedule in January. “The county must live within its means, so it is always a battle to control spending and to look for ways to make our operations more cost effective and efficient,” said Commissioner Chris Monzel. “County government seems to be in the headlines a lot at the end of the year because it is when we begin to set our budgets; however this is a process that starts at the beginning of each year.” Commissioner Monzel noted that the anticipated opening of the Horseshoe Casino in March, and the beginning of the Phase II of the Banks Development project in the spring along with an aggressive construction schedule for a number of Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) projects throughout the year, are among his list of priorities to track as 2013 unfolds. “This year will provide us with a number of opportunities to improve our county’s infrastructure so that we are better positioned to attract new businesses and jobs to our area, while also retaining those jobs that are already here,” Monzel said. “It is certainly a competitive environment, but I know we have an excellent team in place to meet those challenges.”
