About me My name is Geir Svendsrud, i am a Norwegian graphic designer with a penchant for clean design in my works. I am effectivly in my third year due to a deal beteen NKF where i did 2 years of graphic design, and Griffith Univeristy. My major is graphic design and i am taking a bachlor in Digital Media and i am thinking of doing a master as well, in order to further my chances at getting a job after uni. I try to be optimistic about most cases and can work independently or in groups without missing a beat. My personal preference on how i work depends heavily on the group however. My goals here in Australia is to absorb a new method designwice and to get a new cultural perspective on how to create design for potential clients, and to better myself as a designer in order to get a job in the future

Assignment 1

Overview

Objectives

In this assignment we had to go out on out own and talk to a buisness in order to rebrand their image. We had to get written permission in order to work with their image and make it in our own way.

Make your own brief for the project and stick to it.

The business had to be one of three categories, and i choose to rebrand a coffe shop called Circle Espresso, a small coffe shop located in surfers paradice.

Take an existing brand and rebrand it into something new with at least 6 pieces.

My main idea for the rebrand came form the shape of the shop itself wich was formed like a rectangle. In the logo i replaced the O at the end with a rectangle. The design over all is to give a clean feeling that is meant to show the important info, the font used is Arial, a nice slab serif that gives off a friendly feeling. To Strengthen the design i used 3 illustrations regarding coffe to strenghten the design. The colors area collection of brown choosen in order to give that coffe like feeling that one gets of a coffe shop.

Make a time schedule for the following weeks.

One of the items had to be a multi page layout, i choose to make menu. 1 interactiv web page for the given brand 3-6 images not taken from the internet 3-6 self made illustratiions. Packaging, where i choose a coffe cup.

Assignment 2

Overview

Objectives

The second assignment was to make a campain against one of the three big pollution problems of Australia. I choose to meake my campain against plastic bags and made a campain with a hero figure called called Coggie, wich was aimed at parents with kids the age of 7-13.

the main advertisments must use magazine, newspaper and outdoor media as the principle campaign media, and supplement it through digital channels.

The idea is based around a company called Maveric wich recycles plastic bags into new items among other things, and fictionally they have made a backpack out of plastic bags. The hero character itself is made for children, if they spotted the ad in a magazine wich they would point out to the parents who would read the information and what they could do to help and be inspired to do so, to strenghten this i added the slogan: Help Coggie restore nature, and under the backpack it says Becoma a cog in the solution. The colors are meant to appeal for different children, yellow and pink for girls, blue and green for boys, The maveric logo is always meant to be in the top right corner for stabiity recognition, the articles relays general information about plastic bags at first, then goes over to the solution, wich is the backpack. The font used is gill sans, a very mallable font that gcan be both mature and appeal to kids at the same time.

You must produce at least six media specific examples that allow the key elements of your campaign to be understood The core advertising concept of the campaign must be self made. You must appropriately acknowledge any words or images you use that are NOT produced by me.

You must design either a “drop one product” logo or, design something more specific to the campaign idea. It can work in conjunction with an organisation chosen to sponsor the campain.

Australians use 3.92 billion plastic bags a year, that’s over 10 million new bags being used every day. An estimated 3.76 billion bags or 20,700 tonnes of plastic are disposed of in landfill sites throughout Australia every year. Therefore we suggest that you use our recycled backpack to carry around your goods, its light and durable, it is way more practible then a plastic bag and wont saw your hands, help yourself and help mother nature. Info: www.cleanup.org.au Developer: Maverikt

The magazine spreads is made with the parents in mind when it comes to the layout, and the character will make kids look at it as well and point at the article for parents to read, furtermore the spreads gives general information about plastic bags and about the solution (Backpack). I used a classic 2 collum system and clean design troughout the spreads.

Australians use 3.92 billion plastic bags a year, that’s over 10 million new bags being used every day. An estimated 3.76 billion bags or 20,700 tonnes of plastic are disposed of in landďŹ ll sites throughout Australia every year. A person’s use of a plastic check-out bag can be counted in minutes - however long it takes to get from the shops to their homes. Plastic bags however, can take between 15 and 1000 years to break down in the environment Approximately 30 to 50 million plastic bags end up as litter on our beaches, and parks. Plastic bags also block drains and trap birds. They also kill livestock. One farmer near Mudgee NSW, carried out an autopsy on a dead calf and found 8 plastic bags in its stomach. The costs of the damage are astronomical, but there is a solution! Source: Cleanup.org, Planet ark.org

Facebook page

2568QCA

Facebook is a viable option since almost every grown person has an account there now a days and its an effective site to reach out to people from and for the parents to contact the campain without ever leaving the house itself.

Twitter page

2568QCA

The twitter page is meant to be an effective tool to reach parents by creating a steady follower base that gets fresh information about plastic bags and how well the campain is progressing with sales and how much the coggie campain has donated to events such as clean up A.ustralia day
