GGS Primary School Planning today for tomorrow's adventures March 2022
GGS Primary School
Welcome We're excited to share with you the key design elements, drawings and inspirations for our new learning and teaching environment.
GGS acknowledges the traditional owners of the lands that are used by the School, including the Wadawurrung, Wurundjeri and Taungurung people. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging. We are deeply committed to providing a supportive environment that empowers the Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander young people in our care to be successful, recognising that education is the vehicle to inspire positive change.
Landscape elements
Integrated landscape experiences weave together exceptional views, a coastal ridge, undulating fields, ponds, meadows and adjacent sporting grounds into a holistic and responsive natural environment tailored for exceptional education.

The shed is a quintessential element of Australian architecture, resonating with rural and agricultural structures. A number of projects explore the standard shed, transforming it to provide innovative spaces with the benefits of space, volume and flexibility.

The Greenhouse A Future-Focused Centrepiece The simple horizontal form is backed by the Coastal Cypress row, with long frontage to the north across the fields.
The Greenhouse is shared by Primary, Middle and Senior, serving as a new centerpiece for the Corio Campus and a catalyst for transformation to adventure education.
GGS Primary School
Between Building and Landscape A hybrid between building and landscape to create a unique setting for contemporary learning, engaged with nature.
The 'mountain' ascends to the library. Tables, nooks and booths create settings for collaboration.
Significant unallocated spaces support creativity, accommodating multiple and long term activities.
‘Kids love elevation - climbing, outlook, finding your own space’ - GGS teacher feedback.

Top of the Mountain The mountain is a terrain of learning, with spaces for large and small group gathering, teamwork and individual study. A place where students from 5 to 18 years old feel comfortable together. The kiosk is the social focus, the ‘heart of the home’, where teachers, students and parents can connect.
Le g oH o u s e
Because of the variety of built volumes, the space feels active with 30 or 300 people.

Pocket doors can be slid away to create a larger shared learning space.
Built for Inquiry
Areas for presentation, discussion, focused work and play define the learning space.
Supporting Focus
A curtain surrounds the space to allow for immersive AV sessions with low-light conditions.
Environmental monitoring devices (power consumption, temperature, water levels) will be accessible, developing student awareness of the building performance.
GGS Primary School
Nature Based Inquiry Spaces and landscapes for learning Seasonal Calendar
A seasonal calendar is created by the students, informed by Waddawarrung knowledge and stories.
Student Exhibitions
Students can stage exhibitions, a place for parents to enjoy the students' efforts.
Framing Nature
