July 21, 2013 SUNDAY WORSHIP 10:30 AM

ST. GEORGE’S VBS EVERYWHERE FUN FAIR VBS is finally here! VBS starts Monday, July 22nd and runs through Friday, July 26th, from 12:30-3:30 PM. Want to volunteer? See Julie Moore, VBS Director, for more information [703.764.8830 or vbs@stgumc.org].

NEEDED: NEW GREETER COORDINATOR The church continues to seek a new Greeter Coordinator. If you are willing to help make this vital ministry happen, please let the church office know [703.385.4550 or office@stgumc.org]. Sally Adkins will continue through the month of July and is happy to share the information she has been using to assure that we have Greeters each Sunday.

SUMMER FELLOWSHIP The Sunday fellowship gathering is in need of individuals, groups, or classes to provide snacks and prepare coffee and lemonade during the summer months. The schedule will remain the same [9:00 AM Sunday school, 10:00 AM Fellowship, and 10:30 AM Worship]. If you are able to assist, please let the office know [703.385.4550 or office@stgumc.org]. There is also a sign-up sheet in the Narthex. Currently, the following days are open and needing assistance: August 4, August 11, August 18, August 25, and September 1.

PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION Please contact the preschool office for more information or questions about registering your child [703.385.4422 or jricard@stgpreschool.com]. Brochures are on the welcome table in the narthex. Enroll now! There are still a few spots available.

LOST AND FOUND Are you missing shoes, jewelry, a single glove? The lost and found box has many unclaimed items, all awaiting their rightful owners! Please check with the office if you’re missing something. Perhaps we have it here!

COUNTERS ARE NEEDED If you were seeking a way to volunteer at St. George’s but your schedule limits availability, consider the counting team! A commitment of about an hour after church, once a month, is all it takes. A talent with arithmetic or those who enjoy working with numbers (for instance, playing Sudoku) are most welcome. Training is provided and, with enough volunteers, there could be even less a time commitment involved. Those interested should contact Debi Salman [703-424-3881 or LDSTOF8@cox.net].

If you would like to contribute to the Sunday White Pages, please be sure to submit your entries no later than Wednesday at noon to be included in the upcoming weekend’s edition.

WANTED: SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS This is an easy and rewarding one-time or as many times as you feel the spirit move you to teach a Sunday School Class this summer. We will continue with the normal “Come Grow with Us” curriculum through the months of June and July. This means we will sthave regular classes for ages Pre-KK/1 -2nd -3rd-4th/5th-6th/combined Youth (Jr/Sr High) (four age groupings). Please note that the week’s materials will be provided so that minimal preparation is needed. If you pick-up the package of information at least a week before the session you should be good to go. With any questions about the materials, please contact Wendy Williams [wslw_01@hotmail.com or 703.425.9506]. There will also be two adult classes – “Journey Thru the Bible” continues and the couples class will be holding an eight week program centered around “Understanding Your Spouse” (not couples’ therapy but rather the art of spiritual communication and understanding). The month of August will see all the children’s classes combined into a one-room schoolroom and the youth will stay combined as well. The theme for AUGUST is MISSIONS. The adult classes will continue on their scheduled path.

HAVE YOU VISITED ST. GEORGE’S UMC WEBSITE LATELY? New ideas are in development, and updates added weekly. Your input and suggestions are always welcome. Use the site to check the calendar of events, which changes daily, send directions to the church to a friend, read the weekly worship documents, and more! “Friend us” on our FACEBOOK page to see more photos and keep current on the fun and exciting things our mission members are doing. www.stgumc.org

CAN YOU HELP? The church continues to seek assistance in straightening the Sanctuary once a week (on either Thursday or Friday). It only takes about 45 minutes and training involves five minutes. It is a great job for a high school student looking to get service hours. For more information, contact the office [office@stgumc.org or 703.385.4550].
