MONTHLY NEWSLETTER OF THE HIRAM I. BEARSS MARINE CORPS LEAGUE –DET #089 EDITOR: GARY D. NASBY

From the Helm….

YOU DO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A “FAIRY STORY” AND A SEA STORY, DON’T YOU? A FAIRY STORY STARTS OUT ..”ONCE UPON A TIME…..”, AND A SEA STORY” STARTS OUT …”THIS AIN’T NO SH—”

Gary Nasby- Commandant Hiram I. Bearss Det. #089 Reprinted from the “Officers Guidebook”

Marines, listen up! The Commandant of the Marine Corps has spoken! "A Marine is a Marine. I set that policy two weeks ago - there's no such thing as a former Marine. You're a Marine, just in a different uniform and you're in a different phase of your life. But you'll always be a Marine because you went to Parris Island, San Diego or the hills of Quantico. There's no such thing as a former Marine."

My goal as the Commandant this year is to explore new ideas and make each and every member of the Detachment a more satisfied and active member. Recruitment and retention of members will play a key role in my actions this year also. I am available at for your comments and discussion: Phone- (317) 855-8798 E-Mail– hibcommandant@indymarines.org Semper Fidelis- Gary D. Nasby

The Commandant of the Marine Corps, General James F. Amos
