Sending a SMS message using GMail/iGoogle REQUIRES a user who is logged in to Google to do the following 2 steps. I use Google because I am always searching and they are making some frequent tasks very easy to do. Step 1 - Tell Google you want to use the SMS (message to cell phones) feature In your Gmail Account you must: a) click on Settings, b) go to the Labs tab c) Scroll down until you see “Text Messaging (SMS) in Chat” and select Enable d) Save Changes. Step 2 - What to do when you want to use the SMS (message to cell phones) feature To send an SMS, You can simply do either one of the following: ➢ Do this ===> type a US-phone number into the search box in the window below "Contacts" on the left, then select “Send SMS.” You will be asked to enter a "label" for the number when using this approach. ➢ OR Do this ===> Type/select your contact's name into the search box in the window below "Contacts" on the left, then select “Send SMS. See the figures, below, for where you will type the cell user's name or number after you have enabled SMS.
