Students will create a one-of-a-kind artwork based from observation by attaching pieces of paper, photographs, fabric and other ephemera to a supporting substrate. Possibilities are endless in this class!

Instruction includes the historical and social context in which the dance is traditionally performed, and general concepts of dance technique and practice. This is the non-credit option of DAN 116/117/216/217.

Beginning Drawing: One Day Intensive

Learn the essentials of realistic drawing, learning to look in a new way and focusing on elements such as line, shape, value, shadow, composition and perspective.

Be inspired to create with fabric as we repurpose old textiles into new treasures. Geared for beginners but appropriate for all levels and ages over 13. Limited seats available.

Relief Printmaking: Linocuts–NEW! CSW 1162-90: T, 11/6–11/20, 6:00–8:30 pm, 3 wks, $89

An introduction to the study of classical ballet. Students learn the ballet terminology that denotes the traditional position of the feet, arms and body, and the basic ballet steps. This is the non-credit option of DAN 107/108.

Performance Project: Dance in Community BLN 611-90: T/Th, 9/4–12/20 (no class 11/6 &11/22), 11:00 am–12:15 pm, $20

In this course, dancers from the community are invited to join GCC students in the dance performance group, Mixed Company. This is the non-credit option of DAN 201.

Provides students with an introduction to the fundamentals of dance, and exposure to a wide range of different styles of dance, both western and non-Euro-American. This is the non-credit option of DAN 101.

Contemporary/Modern Dance BLN 603-90: M/W, 9/5–12/19 (no class 10/8 & 11/12), 1:00–2:15 pm, $425

An introduction to modern dance. Students learn the terminology and practice the fundamental movements. This is the noncredit option of DAN 111.

East Coast Swing CSW 016-90: M, 9/10–10/22, 6:00–7:00 pm, 7 wks, $75

The upbeat tempos of big band music, blues and contemporary pop tunes all lend themselves to the easy and spirited dance steps of swing.

An elegant ballroom dance that suits fans of artists like Michael Bublé, Frank Sinatra and Natalie Cole. It combines gallantry with playfulness and creates a flowing and intriguing experience for the dancers.
