Dear Members and Community, It is that time of year when much is being celebrated; a time that we refer to as the “holiday season.” Beyond all of the wonderful individual traditions, this time of year is a particularly appropriate time to express gratitude. Despite a world that can be increasingly complex and troubling at times, there is still so much to be grateful for! At the Y, we are especially appreciative that we have the honor and privilege of unveiling a brand new facility as a gift to this community, coinciding with this season of giving thanks. Just as the “holiday season” now marks a celebration of a more universal recognition of tradition and gratitude, the Y celebrates our commitment to opening the doors to the entire community. We value an environment that fosters dignity, respect, fairness, and appreciation for all aspects and dimensions of diversity. If you want to connect to community; be healthy in mind, body, and spirit; and be part of the ‘village’ that raises all of our children; then the Y has a place for you. Our grand opening is serendipitously scheduled for the same day that we will ring in the New Year. We swing open our doors to the community at 7am on January 1st for our first day of operations, and at 11am on January 2nd, we will have an official “ribbon cutting,” which in our own Y way will find a unique twist on this rite of passage. Notably, our new Y offers: • Sauna, lap pool, program pool, and splash pad • Full ADA accessibility • Roomy and comfortable lobby, offering space to relax and socialize • Community conference space • Gymnasium for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, badminton, etc. • Vast array of all-new cardio and weight equipment in a light-drenched and airy space • Indoor mini-turf with functional weight racks • Indoor, 13 lap to the mile, track • Men’s, Women’s, and Universal locker rooms • Three dedicated fitness/wellness studios • Drop-in child care space available while parent/guardian works out But beyond all of these wonderful perks, the new building is a platform through which we hope to learn of additional community needs and to vastly expand the programs and services that we offer. For those who have followed the Y over the past 20 plus years, and our efforts to build a new Y, this is truly a time for celebration. Together, WE did it! The path that brought us to this new home has truly been a community effort, without which this simply would not be possible.

The Y Early Childhood Programs provide quality program for children ages 0 to 5 years, fostering social, emotional, physical, cognitive, creative, and healthy development through enriching experiences and positive relationships. Our established programs are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and have received 5 STARs from the State of Vermont. Registration for Y preschool is ongoing. • Co-ed day camp for kids that have completed Kindergarden through grade 6 State licensed summer program located in Burlington, Essex, Georgia, Underhill and Waterbury. Each week follows a theme and includes hands-on learning including crafts, physical activities and games, swimming, field trips, science, and enrichments.
Camp IGNITE — for girls ages 8 to 14
Based at Rock Point in Burlington, Camp IGNITE will Inspire Girls in Nature, Technology, and the Environment! In addition to the weekly themed activities, campers will practice stewardship and gain skills in STEM. Each week, girls will gain a better understanding of environmental education and the important role we have in Vermont and the world.
Specialty Camps (Ages 11 - 14)
Half and full day camps with programs in Chittenden, Franklin and Washington counties that offer interesting themes and loads of fun.

Builds on the skills developed through several sessions of Beginner Gymnastics, enhancing and advancing basic gymnastic progressions on the floor and bars, while improving flexibility and strength. SAFE SWIMMERS START HERE
Our experienced swim instructors teach the nationally recognized Y Progressive Swim Program, with a focus on personal safety, stroke development, and rescue techniques. This program promotes personal growth for your swimmer in a fun, caring and safe atmosphere.
Lessons begin on Tuesday, January 6 and run for 7 weeks. Registration is open NOW and pre-registration by level is required. To schedule a swim evaluation to ensure your child starts at the appropriate level, contact Jess Lukas, Aquatics Director, at 652-8143 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
FIRST PLUNGE (Ages 6 mos. to 5 yrs.) These 30 minute introductory classes use the bond between caregiver and child to create a safe and welcoming environment. Classes focus on comfort, balance and movement and are designed to allow the children to have fun in the water while caregivers guide them through skills such as bubble blowing, kicking, paddling and jumping. One adult must accompany each child in the water. Children that are not potty trained must wear a proper swim diaper. There is no swim lesson evaluation required; please register by age.
Shrimp / Kipper / Inia (Ages 6 - 18 mos.)
For children from 6 to 18 months, this class introduces parents and their infants to the pool and allows beginning swimmers to progress from water adjustment to basic skills. Instruction helps parents work with their children and focuses upon on creating a fun time for parents and children through water games, songs and basic movements. Perch (Ages 19 - 36 months)
This class continues to provide the highest quality of early water experiences for children from 19 months to 36 months. Children will work towards swimming independently with support from both the instructor and their caregiver while continuing to develop safety skills and early swimming skills through games, song and playful instruction. Perch Plus (Ages 29 - 36 months)
For children from 29-36 months, Perch Plus is for children that have completed at least one session of Perch. Caregivers remain in the water with children as instructors work towards preparing children for Parent Pike or even Pike 1. This class is for our more advanced, younger swimmers who are demonstrating bubble blowing skills and swimming independently with flotation and limited caregiver support. Parent Pike (Ages 3 - 5)
This transitional class is for children who are not ready to be without an adult caregiver in the water and introduces skills to the child and adult together. GAINING CONFIDENCE (Ages 3 - 5) Our pre-school age swim lessons encourage comfort and independence through skills, games and fun. Children learn safe pool behavior and adjust to the aquatic environment with flotation aids. Parents are encouraged to be a support, but are not present in the water. Each class is 30 minutes long.
Pike 1 (Ages 3 - 5)
Children are introduced to their first experience swimming without a parent. Instructors work with children to teach independence and confidence in the water through basic swim skills and safety. Flying Fish / Shark (Ages 9 - 16)
Flying fish and shark instructors continue working on stroke development and stamina building to work towards completing 100 yards of front crawl, backstroke, butterfly and breast stroke. A focus on water safety is maintained as flying fish and sharks are becoming young adults who might be thinking about jobs as swim instructors and lifeguards. Private and Semi-Private Swim Lessons (Groups of 2 – 5) Enjoy a one-on-one, personalized swim lesson with a qualified instructor no matter what your age! Your instructor will create lessons to specifically meet your needs and goals. Lessons are 30 minutes. Through providing intensive stroke development and various leadership opportunities, participants have the unique chance to improve their swimming while developing important Safety and Leadership skills along the way! Participants in Porpoise Club will learn more about aquatic safety, as well as become more confident and knowledgeable in their swimming. This 8-week, non-competitive swim club is a skillsintensive group for ages 12 and older. Home School Swim
Are you a home school family? Time to take some swim lessons at the Y! We’ll join together for 45 minutes of a structured swim lesson program geared towards the home school children in our community. (Ages 15 & up) Looking for a rewarding job? Train to be a lifeguard! Our comprehensive Lifeguard Training course includes accident prevention, lifeguarding techniques, emergency systems, and rescue skills. INTRODUCTORY PROGRAMS The Stroke School for 5-8 year olds
The Stroke School is a intended for young swimmers new to swim team who need significant development before moving to the competitive team. The program runs in 7 or 8 week sessions throughout the year. Stroke School utilizes storytelling to teach swimmers the physical skills and components of the strokes while immersing them in a fun adventure based learning experience. COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS The Dynamo Swim Team is structured to promote the development and success of our swimmers.
