Ask Auntie Em Having a problem with SL love, sex, and relationships?

Ask Auntie Em, our resident relationship guru, worrywort, and general busybody. Send your questions/concerns to the Editor-in-Chief at matthewxxx.gustav (in world) or email matxxx.g@gmail.com. He will send them off to Kansas for you, and Em will sort out your problem in a future issue of Gay House. Oh Auntie Em, I’ve been with the same guy for a few weeks now and I really love being with him and care about him a lot. Problem is, he won’t share much about his Real Life, except his age, where he’s from and a face pic. We have a good time talking and being together doing things in SL, but I get frustrated because I want to get closer to him and can’t. What should I do? Keeping It Real

She remembers the good old days with Uncle Henry… buggy rides, cream sodas at the drugstore, cuddling under the moonlight… sigh. A new relationship is thrilling, and if there’s a connection, of course you want to get closer to your partner. Problem is that in SL (as in RL) folks have different ideas about what they want and need from relationships. Some are content to divulge hardly any RL, just living the SL fantasy. Some blend SL with RL to varying degrees, and others basically treat SL like Match.com. What Auntie hears is that you are a blender and your partner is a fantasy player. Now, old Em is these days a teetotaler, but in her younger days she enjoyed a well-made cocktail. And relationships are like cocktails: you got to have to right mix. Mix a SL/RL blender and a fantasy player, and that’s like putting Bailey’s in a gin and tonic; you’ll get a nasty, sour, curdled mess. Now, it’s possible that your partner is a potential SL/ RL blender, but then again, maybe he wants to stay more fantasy. You could try sharing he wants is to straight up ask him. And depending on how he answers, you will need to then ask yourself: do I adjust my expectations of the relationship, or do I end it and look for a better mix?

GAY HOUSE Magazine, Autumn 2011

Oh Auntie Em, I think my boyfriend is cheating on me on an alt. We said we would be monogamous, but I think after he signs off his main he gets on an alt and has sex with other guys. I always see the same alts around when he’s gone, and I think one of them may be him. It looks like his fantasy, and plus, someone sent me a chatlog of this alt and it sounded just like him. I asked him if he was cheating; he denied it, but I don’t believe him. I feel so jealous and insecure and I hate feeling this way but don’t know how to stop. Help! Crazy in Love Dear Crazy… for thinkin’ that my love could hold yooooo… sorry there, CIL, Auntie was having a Patsy Cline moment. But you know, what’s good in a country song ain’t so good to live through. If your relationship is making you feel crazy, then it’s time to ask some tough questions about it. Let me tell you a story. A few years ago, this new gal moved into the farm next door. Auntie Jen was her name. Now, Jen was no looker, but she could make a cherry pie to make your mouth water; would bring ‘em over every so often. Whenever she did, Uncle Henry would sure enough start to sweat like a whore in church. Auntie Em got to thinking that maybe Uncle Henry had more on his mind than pie. Began to drive Auntie a little crazy (she was out asked Uncle Henry if he was running around. The look on his sweet old face said to Em, “girl, you crazy as a road lizard.” Now mind you, if Henry had been coming in late smelling of perfume, his overalls all stained with cherry juice, that would have been a horse of a different color. Guess the point is: if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, you probably got a duck. But if you ain’t right in your mind, you might see ducks in an empty pond. Oh Auntie Em, seems like whenever I’m out anywhere, I get asked for sex by noobs. What is your policy on sex with noobs? Uncertain Dear Uncertain, keep in mind that the last time Auntie Em had sex with a noob, it was when So Auntie asked her promiscuous friend Auntie Ruth about noob sex. She replied, “noobs? Sure thing! Pass ‘em a few LMs for shapes, skin, hair, and parts, show ‘em how to edit, and have at it. Get ‘em young, train ‘em right, is what I always say.”
