A refreshing sensibility is in the air these days. As our need for value increases, our traditional values are revived. As we spend more time at home with family, we appreciate the vital role of our environment – and our impact on it – more than ever.
New era. New attitude. Our desire for luxury and quality has not diminished, however. Then we remember that less can be more. And that fine things do come in small packages. Gavigan Homes instills this refreshing attitude in its new Platinum Collection – beautifully appointed 1,500 to 2,500-square foot homes – designed for modern living and set in the graceful surroundings of Beaufort, South Carolina.
In Beaufort, South Carolina, history co-exists charmingly with current lifestyles. The harbor, source of Beaufort’s prosperity in the 18th and 19th century, once fostered shipbuilding enterprises and the trade of rice, cotton and indigo. Now, the waterfront hosts shops, dining, and festivals. Ancient live oaks still surround the graceful antebellum mansions, featured in such movies as Forest Gump, The Big Chill and The Prince of Tides. And generations of herons, egrets and fishermen have enjoyed food from these glimmering waters.
Lowcountry allure. Easy living. Located in the heart of the Sea Islands, Beaufort is near plenty of recreation: historic landmarks; great golf; outstanding fishing; marshes, parks and nature trails; and a wealth of art, music and Gullah culture. It’s no wonder the city has been named one of the “Top 5 Retirement Towns” by Fortune Magazine and “The Best Small Southern Town” by Southern Living.
Within 1,500 to 2,500 square feet, the Platinum Collection is smartly designed for casual comfort, with open kitchens, dining and living areas, and alternative plans for master bedroom locations based on your social or physical needs. This is modern living at its best. Efficiency, ecological responsibility, affordability and, yes, luxury.

James J. Gavigan established Gavigan Homes in 1969, when he returned home after serving as a combat engineer for the Army during the Vietnam War. He had gained valuable building – and life – experience during the war, and he quickly put his skills and talents to use back home.
Service. Quality. And affordability. For more than 40 years, Gavigan Homes has been recognized as a leading builder of custom homes throughout upstate New York. Gavigan Homes relocated to the coastal southeast in 2005, following the migration of northeasterners and their homebuilding needs. That was also the year that James’ son, Billy, followed the path his father had cut. After 12 years as an enlisted Marine and Officer, he left the Corps to lead the building company and ensure the family legacy. James is still active as Chairman and advisor for the business he founded. The Gavigans continue their tradition of service to country and community, a tradition started in the 1940s by Billy’s grandfathers. Gavigan Homes continues to be renowned for quality custom homes and affordable prices.
