There were around two thousand other transplant recipients, living donors, donor families and supporters there to show the world that organ donation works. Although he did not come back with a medal, he placed 6th in the road race and 8th in the time trial and had a good time while being halfway around the world competing and taking in the South African culture. He was able to go mountain biking twice in rural areas with the sugar cane fields where workers are paid 10R a day (equivalent to $1USD) and also went on a 1 day safari in the Hluhluwe Imofolozi Game Reserve, where they saved the white rhino from extinction. It is the oldest gaming reserve in South Africa where he saw giraffes, elephants, baboons, white rhinos and many other wild animals. Next year the Transplant Games of America will be held in Houston, and the following year the World Transplant Games will be in Mar Del Plata, Argentina. If you or someone you know had a life saving transplant and would like more information about the transplant games contact Austin at the Inner Loop office... Steve Bland returned from his annual skating vacation, this time to the beautiful Danube River. The trip included stops in Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest, with a group of 23 fellow skaters and bikers. One of the highlights was a canoe tour down the Danube with a wine tasting on the shore midway, followed by a stay in a castle with a formal dinner. His ‘a-sister-ant’, Melissa Thering, came on the trip as well, and they celebrated her 50th birthday at La Coupole in Paris! Alexis Valentine and her husband Cory traveled to Europe this summer. They started their journey in London, then took the train to Paris, and finished the trip in Ireland. What a wonderful adventure. In London they saw all the major tourist attractions, Buckingham Palace, the London eye, the London tower, Kensington Palace, strolled through Hyde Park and saw the musical “Once” in the Piccadilly Circus area of London. Then they headed to Paris for two nights. They enjoyed the Fat Tire bike tour in Paris. It’s a guided bike tour that takes you to all the historical sights. They dined at French cuisines and ate delicious macaroons before heading to Dublin, Ireland for a dear friend’s wedding in a castle. Alexis said it was an experience of a lifetime and they were sad to leave Europe but plan to return again soon... Ofelia McDonald accompanied her youngest daughter Mia to New York City. They sailed out of Copenhagen, Denmark and had several stops. The first was Tallinn, Estonia, a picturesque small city. Then on to St. Petersburg, Russia where they took a boat ride through the canals and toured part of the Hermitage. They went to the Peter Paul Cathederal of the last Tsars family burial and lastly, they had a formal dinner at a beautiful Russian Palace where they had a delicious 6 course meal while listening to live classical music played by a instrumental trio. They enjoyed visiting Helsinki, Finland for a day and another day in the beautiful city of Stockholm, Sweden... Jim and Doris Murdock vacationed in France. They said Paris is beautiful with 4 to 5 story historic buildings everywhere and no power lines. They stayed at the Westin Hotel Vendome, adjacent to several well-known sites, including the Louvre, Musee D’Orsay, Musee L’Orangerie, Jardin Du Tuilieries, and Place de la Concorde

where Marie Antoinette was guillotined. The art museums were stunning. They visited Napoleon’s Tomb and toured the WWI and WWII sections of the French Military History museum, and the the St. Louis Chapel, also a part of the complex. The contemporary art museum, Musee de Pompidou was especially interesting and that area included Brancusi’s studio and the wonderful eclectic Stravinsky fountain with sculptures by Niki de St. Phalle and Ives Tinquely. The final day was spent in Montmarte where they visited two churches, St. Pierre, built in the 11th century and the beautiful Basilique due Sacre Coeur, finishing at the Dali Museum. They particularly enjoyed an evening dinner cruise on the Seine, celebrating their 30th anniversary. After just visiting the museums in Paris, Doris still went to the Houston Fine Art Fair at the George R. Brown Convention Center. LAKE CONROE: We celebrated Kirby Leonard’s milestone birthday- “Happy 50th Birthday Kirby!” We made matching shirts and hunting was our theme. His office was decorated with camoflauge everywhere and we sprayed him with silly string and shot nerf guns upon his entering the office. Following that we had lunch, cake and ice cream. He wore his Kirbinator shirt! Thanks for being such a good sport, Kirbinator! LAKE HOUSTON: Congratulations to our Samantha Bowers- Baby Alyse is officially here! She came in at a whopping 9.9 lbs and was 21inches long. She is super healthy and Samantha is on the road to recovery... Every new school year brings with it many triumphs and celebrations, and this year was no exception. We would like to congratulate Toni Moss for sponsoring the Peddling for Perfection attendance program at Timbers Elementary School for the second year in a row. Toni will be donating 2 bicycles to the winners at the end of this school year. What a great way to encourage the children at that school! Sheri Petersen is thankful to have both her children on the same campus at Atascosita High School. Her daughter Bethany made the varsity swim team as a freshman and her son Adam has chosen to concentrate on baseball this year and is working hard during the off season. Katie Orth is beginning the school journey with her twins starting kindergarten and her youngest now in preschool. Katie had more celebrations this month with one of her 36 cousins getting married in Chicago. While there, she and a band of her misfit family members rode hard in their new moped through the upscale neighborhoods of Chicago. Katie couldn’t help but wonder what the real estate opportunities were like there... While her kiddos are beginning their school years, Kendra Lee is officially an empty nester, with all of her daughters now living on their own. Like many parents, she wondered if this day would ever come and is also a bit sad that it has. Luckily the girls are still close by... Tara Baker is another agent whose family is close by, and every year they host a themed family reunion; this year was no different as her daughter Lauren and niece Trista had a grand time in Hitchcock with a pirate theme this year- Arrr! Matey, this seems like quite the fun way to spend time with all the family... Eleana Topp was so happy when her good friend Moraima from high school in Peru visited her from Sweden. It’s so nice when we can spend time with old friends too... Lisa Dempsey took a much needed ten day getaway for her tenth anniversary. She and husband Robert took a wonderful trip to New Mexico and had many exciting adventures, including climbing up a cliff through ancient native American ruins, riding in a hot air balloon through the Rio Grande Gorge, visiting the home of Georgia O’Keefe on horseback seeing the beautiful landscape and vistas that she painted and more. She also threw a surprise party for her parent’s 50th wedding anniversary on their way back home in Fredericksburg... As you remember, our receptionist Martha Sanchez wed her husband back in April. She looked so special on her day that Walden Country Club on Lake Houston invited her to be one of the models at their August Bridal Fashion Show and Open House. She modeled her own wedding dress and looked just as stunning as she had the first time... Debbie Stockwell was the Grand Prize winner of our Destination Anywhere Referral Contest. She won a 7 day- 6 night resort certificate to travel anywhere she would like. Other winners were Amber Guillotte, Debra Adams and Josh Arkless, who all won gifts from White House Black Market. Way to go everyone who participated! We would like to welcome several new faces to the team- Cara Braud, who is our part-time receptionist and office coordinator at the Grand Parkway North office. She will be our go to person as Samantha Bowers takes some time off with her new bundle of joy. We have many new additions to our agent roster as well, please say a big howdy when you meet Raul Briceno, Carla Carlson, Melessa Clark, Maria Procaccini and Hannah Riemer in the office and out in the field. Our New Website Features Sold Data! As one of the first companies in Houston to offer this feature, be the first to tell your friends, family and clients they do NOT have to go to Zillow anymore and chase down incorrect prices on sold homes. Send them to YOUR Gary Greene website – where they can register and view SOLD data, price reductions and more! Now you can be the trusted source of information for your client! All BHGRE Gary Greene agents have this functionality through their personal company website, both basic and enhanced. Learn how this search function works and how to have your clients register for this data by watching a short informative video “Viewing Solds on GG Agent Websites” on our BHGRE Gary Greene YouTube channel or in the PowerHouse by clicking on the grey Media Center menu tab, then the green Websites tab, then the Gary Greene Websites tab.

New Features That Focus on Lifestyle and Community We encourage you to take some time to look at all the enhanced features added to make GaryGreene.com your client’s source for information on homes, lifestyle and community. Searches can be defined by choices such as whether a home is a golf course community, gated, or on a waterfront; whether there are green features such as LEED or Energy Star certification; or by school district, or whether a home is a foreclosure. There is a new map search by community, information such as market conditions, community photos and videos, and searches for master planned as well as senior living communities. You’ll be hard pressed to find one source with so much information about homes for sale where your client wants to live.

New Resources For You We’ve simplified access to all the great dashboards and resources available to you on the Gary Greene Power Systems page. When you click the “Agent Only” link at the bottom of our main page, you’ll have access to The Greenhouse, BackAgent, PowerDesk, and the PowerHouse, our new resource that combines the old separate Broker/Admin and Learning Center pages into one concise dashboard. After you log in with your Gary Greene email address and password, you’ll see a refreshed place to access company info and instruction, CMA and flyer programs, your website, email and our new Media Center where you can download and view webinars, videos, forms, and much more. We are loading new information into the PowerHouse daily and we encourage your feedback to let us know what you want to see there. If you’re having trouble accessing any of the Power sites, talk to your Office Coordinator or John Clark at jgclark@garygreene.com.

CHOOSING A REPUTABLE MOVER Relocation can be a stressful life event and consumers often don’t take the necessary precautions to minimize the stress when hiring a company to move their cherished possessions. Here’s an important checklist to help you select the right mover: 1. Get a written estimate from several movers based on an actual in-home inspection of your household goods. 2. Make sure the mover has insurance and is licensed by the proper authority. For interstate moves (from one State to another), a U.S. DOT number is issued by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. You can check a mover’s license on www.ProtectYourMove.gov For moves within a State check with your State attorney general, county or local consumer affairs agency. 3. Remember your priorities when choosing a mover. If you hire a mover based solely on price, you may sacrifice other things, such as getting your possessions moved and delivered on time.

BAY AREA: Welcome to our new agents Justin Williams, Kym Clacher, Ginevra Sunseri and Julie Kimbrough... Norman and Felicity Frenk spent 14 fabulous days in Silverton, Colorado in their new motor home, hiking and enjoying the beautiful outdoors with their adorable puppy Gage. Norman came back sporting a new beard and he’s looking pretty fine! Judy Doggett and husband Gary enjoyed a long weekend in Napa discovering new wines up and down the valley. Including an olive oil tasting that was not only unique, but educational. Their first shipment of wine arrives soon... Gena VanTries and her main squeeze Joe spent September getting some much needed R & R. First, a trip to Hilton Head for boating, shopping and sampling the cuisine in many restaurants on the island. Next, off to San Diego where they traveled to Temecula for wine tasting; The Coronado Dell for brunch; LaJolla for some sightseeing and of course… shopping... Barbara Kelly’s thrilled that daughter Meredith and daughter in-law Alex have moved back from California. Meredith teaches Special Ed at Chavez High and Alex will be Bay Oaks Country Club’s new executive chef as of October 9th. Must be nice to have a chef in the family! Congrats to Jeanette Valdez and her husband Fred who celebrated their 30th anniversary…ahhhh! Mica Nagle and husband Dan welcomed their first grandchild, Brooklyn, on September 6th. Brooklyn, Mommy and Daddy are doing great! Mike Smith and wife Paula took a long awaited trip to Gatlinburg. They left for a four day trip but decided it was just too beautiful to leave; so added another 3 days to their stay. They rented a quaint log cabin with unbelievable views; enjoyed some beautiful drives; hiking and a lot of touristy things. Mike offered to stay there while Paula came back to Houston to earn a living. Don’t think that’s going to fly in the Smith family... Lisa Salinas’ daughter Salma will be performing in the upcoming production of A Christmas Carol at the Alley Theatre downtown. She is playing three roles: a cherub, a Cider Child and Ignorance. The performances for the public will be November 15th through December 26th. Salma previously performed in The Little Mermaid in New York... Nancy Suarez’s daughter Stephanie and husband Jesus flew to Spain in September to visit family in Madrid as well as get Stephanie settled in before she begins her studies at University of Granada for language immersion. Stephanie scored in the highest placement in Spanish for this semester of courses. She loves to travel and experience cultures, plus this is also part of her heritage. After Jesus arrived back in the states, he and Nancy took a long weekend trip to West Texas. They visited the McDonald Observatory, UT-owned research telescopes that are the largest in the world; spent time reviewing the history at Ft. Davis; hiking in the mountains; the Big Bend Museum; Carlsbad Caverns and had great times with friends. Glad our Career Development Coach had time for some R & R! Jennifer Klein’s son, Daven, is playing Defensive Tackle for the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs. As a freshman, he played in the first game against the Southwestern Pirates. The Bulldogs won 44-14. Way to go Daven! Brother Dillon even tagged along to cheer on his big brother... Debra Blenderman and husband Don took their annual trip for Don to drive in The Colorado Grand, an annual charity tour for 1960 and earlier sports and race cars of distinction. Driving in their 1955 Kurtis Kraft 500X through the beautiful winding roads of Colorado, it was rumored that Debra was the navigator for the entire trip, as Don might not trust her driving his prized possession... The Bay Area office is again working on our Sunshine Kids Bazaar scheduled for Wednesday, November 6th. Vendors bring in their goods to display and sell while donating a percentage of their proceeds to The Sunshine Kids. Chairs Dan McCarver, Jaime Wills, Judy Doggett and Susan Maki have already booked many vendors for what promises to be a fun-filled day and more money for the kids! CHAMPIONS: Say it isn’t so! Long time Top Producer Ann Eschenfelder announced her retirement at the end of August. Beginning in the seventies, Ann’s real estate career began with MLS books instead of computers, picking up keys at offices to show homes and keeping tons of quarters in your car to use at the pay phone! The two things that haven’t changed over the years are the excellent service she always gave her clients and how much she is respected and loved by her fellow Realtors. She and hubby Paul who is also retired plan to travel even more. Ann won’t know what to do without making long distance calls from across the world to try to do her real estate business! Their next trip is sailing down the Midi Canal on a 6 person boat in France... Agent Linda Beck, her hubby Brian, and manager Sharon Teusink and her husband Ken will join them. Brian speaks fluent French and it might be needed! The men are going to drive the boat while the ladies take care of stocking the wine and making sure there are plenty of croissants for breakfast. Ann and her husband are then off for another cruise and Dubai... Talk about 15 minutes of fame, It was actually 2 days of fame for Esse Benedict. Corporate called in and asked if we had a Spanish- speaking agent who might want to participate in Better Homes and Gardens new “Be Better” marketing campaign and our Career Development Manager Brian Schwartz mentioned her. Esse threw her name into the hat and before she knew it, she was one of 3 people chosen from the entire franchise! She was flown to Miami and put up in a first class hotel. They took her to the photo shoot in a limo and the entire 2 days was first class and

unforgettable. When you see a beautiful girl in the campaign and think she looks familiar, she is. Its Esse! Its all for the kids! Our office prepared and threw our annual Sunshine Kids event at the Red River Saloon on October 16th. The place, food and everything else is donated so every penny goes to the kids. Be sure to look on our Facebook page for photos! September was a big month for both Manager Sharon Teusink and Career Development Manager Brian Schwartz. Sharon shares a birthday with Brian’s son Ryland, September 22. Ryland was one-year-old and Sharon will be..... Well let’s just keep guessing... Office Support Manager Letha Ellis’ daughter Kyla was one of 15 out of 70 that tried out and made the Texas State Womens volleyball team. They’ll play against A&M, UT, Baylor and more. Mom will be making lots of road trips... What we will do for outgoing referrals. Brian said he would wash any agent’s car who gave an outgoing referral in the month of July. He put on his bathing suit and washed cars as the agents cheered him on. Pics will follow... Steve Caton said “You aren’t touching my car...” “Walk a mile in my shoes” is a familiar saying- That’s what Susan Matson, Linda Beck and Charles Thornburg did this summer. They walked in their buyers shoes by moving into new “digs” in the middle of the hot summer. Now they know first hand the stress of moving!! CORPORATE: Gary Greene was proud to be a part of the Houston Relocation Professionals’ Annual Golf Tournament benefiting The Candlelighters, a group very much like The Sunshine Kids- they provide hotel rooms and parking for parents and relatives of children fighting cancer. On the course was our Toni Nelson, Rich Guderyon, Kristen Brown, Michelle Entine and Stacy Johnston... They work hard and party hard in Relocation, but this month they had a reason to party, celebrating Ashley Hicks’ birthday on October 2nd! Ashley is third from right in the pic to the left... Finally, Congratulations from Relocation to the following agents who sent outgoing referrals that closed in September: Tracy Bogiel, Katy; Charlotte Broesche, Tiki; Patricia Talbot, Fort Bend; and Sheila Garner from Pearland. CY-FAIR & WALLER: Our Patricia Muller became a U.S. Citizen this month. Patricia wrote about becoming a citizen: I’m proud to announce that on July 31st, 2013, together with 2190 applicants from 117 Countries, in a very large and emotional oath ceremony, I have received my Certificate of Naturalization from the United States and I am now an American Citizen! I’m thankful with God, my husband, my family, friends and the Gary Greene Team, for all the support, because I’m here in this great country. I also will always preserve the culture from my country where I come from. Nowadays, the world is united, without walls or borders and this new era gives us the opportunity of learning from diversity, which at the same time demands from all of us respect and tolerance. At the same time it enriches our cultures and our way of thinking and open our minds. Once more, I’m so proud and thankful! Thank you God! America’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths, and the commitment to freedom is what makes America... Congratulations, Patricia... September brought the Hempstead Watermelon Festival. BHGRE Waller‘s float was in the parade and we had great fun at the Festival. Many thanks to the Gary Greene agents who came out to represent our office- Cathy Hamlin and her husband, Kelli Lowery and husband Kenneth, Angela Chavez, Rich Guderyon, Donnie Heinzen, Ava Sempe and daughter, Alyssa King and Emma. Special thanks to Dena Blue and Lex Valk for volunteering to bring music to our float. The crowd enjoyed the music and danced as we went by. More pictures are available on Cy-Fair’s and Waller’s Facebook Page... Please check out our sites and like our pages! FORT BEND: There must be an exit strategy to escape the heat as stories are bouncing around about who has been where and how cool it was!! Marlena Berger and friends went cruising on the Carnival Magic with stops at Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel. Her roommate was Memorial’s Cindy Trahan. They had a fabulous time traipsing around the ruins in Belize and Tequila tasting and shopping in Cozumel. Seas were a bit choppy, but true sailors they were and are looking forward to their next cruise adventure! Cindy McCoy and husband Terry went on the 3rd annual “Guess where we are going?” trip planned by Terry! This year’s trip was to Napa Valley and was exquisite! She did not know the itinerary until they reached the check in station for bags. She had a Happy Face :) With one day’s rest, Cindy then tagged along with Renee Malone for their annual golfing trip to Santa Fe. They had a gorgeous week of golfing, exploring the Georgia O’Keefe museums and homes, and shopping. The beauty of Santa Fe was magical! Sara Nguyen and family headed to the east coast and enjoyed fabulous weather and scenery. Lane Pearson took a “short” getaway in Destin, Florida. As the saying goes, she is sitting on the side of the beach....watching the tide go away. (we are going to create our game where in the world is Lane now?) Life is good! Nikki Owen and partner Carolyn also spent a week in Napa enjoying the great weather and good wine!

Esse threw her name into the hat and before she knew it, she was one of 3 people chosen from the entire franchise! She was flown to Miami and put up in a first class hotel. unforgettable.
