EPHEMERA STREETSCAPE-PLAZA HYBRID Located in front of the Flatiron Building in New York City, the plaza acknowledges and articulates the ephemeral qualities of urban life. The design of the plaza emphasizes flexibility of traffic schemes, balancing both pedestrian and vehicular needs. In addition, the plaza actively displays the dynamism of the place including pedestrian flow, weather conditions, and coming and goings of the subway. INTEGRATE URBANISM AT ASSEMBLY The design extends existing urban north-south connections and weaves it with east-west pathways to reintegrate the urban fabric with the Mystic River. Additionally, this feathering creates a framework for architecture. NOURISH COMMUNITY NUTRITION CENTER The project actively seeks to engage the community through education on various aspects of urban food networks. The building exclusively uses wood structure including a timber diagrid which allows for uninterrupted and flexible floor plans. KELP ECOLOGICAL SYSTEM The project studies the impact of fertilizer runoff from agricultural lands in Southern California. The fertilizer runoff eventually leads to massive eutrophication eventually leading cascading impacts on the surrounding ecology. The project proposes the use of multi-trophic aquacultural systems to manage and remediate the fertilizer. Harvard University STU 1212: Landscape Architecture IV Completed: Spring 2016 Professor: Robert Pietrusko Duration: 13 weeks Collaborators: Xin Zhao, Maria Gloria Robalino
